This Anniversary Coin that was minted in 1965 to commemorate
Toas, New Mexico's 350th Anniversary
The top picture depicts three of the people of the era: Indian, Conquestador & Priest.
Along with the Cross.
The bottom picture depicts the famous Taos Pueblo and the beautiful Rocky Mountains where Taos is nestled.
My beloved sister, Marion, and her husband lived in Taos for a number of years
This coin is extra special to me because it was a gift to me from her in 1965.
In addition to this silver coin to me, she gave each of our daughters a bronze coin.
This coin is now 42 years old
making 392 years since Taos, New Mexico was first established.
Lots of history in New Mexico.
It's a beautiful state to visit and tour if you haven't done so.
That is a neat coin from New Mexico. I'm sure it is a special treasure to you beings it is from your sister.

ReplyDeleteWhat a special gift from your sister! And, I too have enjoyed New Mexico. I remember driving through it for the first time when we moved to Arizona. The dessert sure has it's own beauty, with so many things to discover!

ReplyDeleteI enjoy old coins! It's so neat you held onto it. I think I went through New Mexico a couple of times as a child on the way out to Cali. I never spent time there though. I would love to visit the southwest with my hubby. He is from Mexico and only knows the southern and eastern parts of this vast country of ours!
