My husband is not a collector of things. Being rasied in Tennesse he had expressed an interest in wishing he could find one of the old license plates that was shaped like the state of Tennessee. Several years ago we were visiting his sister in Nashville. His sister and brother-in-law were great antiquers and took us to an antique store. Low and behold Mickey spotted this Tennessee license plate hanging VERY high up on one of the walls. He got the shop keeper and asked for them to get it down for him.
They got it down and took it to the register to hold it for us while we continued to shop. The minute it was placed on the counter a man and woman came up and wanted to purchase it. He was so happy he had seen it before they did!!!!
His ideal would have been to get one dated 1932, his birth year, but that he could not do. He was delighted to have found this one. We were married in 1958 so this was 2 years prior to that. This license plate is now 52 years old and is proudly displayed on the wall in our office over his desk.

ReplyDeleteSusan that is great - but tell your dear hubby I was just four years old when it was made so thank him for reminding me of that here today......gosh that was a long time ago 1956 or 1952 :) for that matter.

I'm happy for your husband that he found an old Tn. license plate. I haven't seen one like that in a long time, but I do remember those.
