Today I am showing you two shelves of my MANY bookshelves. These two shelves hold old books (except for one which I'll explain at the end). These books are true treasures to me because all (but the large ones on the second shelf) belonged to my father. It was he who taught me the value and importance of books and reading

I will list them from left to right by color, date of publication and name.

Second Shelf

1) Light Red - 1928 - The Life Magnet

2) Red - 1904 - Ivanhoe

3) Red - 1927 - The Secret of Gold

I picked the familiar text of John 1:1-5 to quote from this version:

"In the beginning the Word existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was divine. It was he that was with God in the beginning. Everything came into existence through him, and apart from him nothing came to be. It was by him that life came into existence, and that life was the light of mankind. The light is still shining in the darkness, for the darkness has never put it out."

This small book, tucked in at the end, we purchased when we visited Washington, DC in 2001,

Another small book, that I failed to take a picture of, is Presidents of the United States, published in 1975. The book has a picture and brief history of all the Presidents from George Washington through Gerald Ford in 1974.

The 6 larger books, to the right on the second shelf, came with an Encyclopedia set we purchased when our girls were young. The encyclopedias are long since gone but we kept these books. Our son, Marc, has a couple more of this set at his home.
