THERE IS A SEASON - Part II

Does this guy look relaxed and comfy? He should & he is. The reason.......my sweet Mickey is once again RETIRED!!! Yippee!!!
He has retired 3 or 4 times, and his employer keeps calling him to come back to work.
This last time was September 26, 2007. This really was a God thing because our oldest son, David, returned home on September 30th and the extra finances were just what we needed at that time. God knows our needs, even before we do. What an awesome God we serve.

A few days ago I shared the title of this post and this verse with you:

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."

Ecclesiastes 3:1

In that post I was relating it to our Spiritual walk and how God moves us from season and purpose to season and purpose. This time our "season" has changed once again on the "We are in the world but not of the world" arena. Several things in our lives had been moving along this line but while we were at International House of Prayer in Kansas City we knew it was "time". We returned from Kansas City on Sunday, May 25th. Monday was a holiday because it was Memorial Day and on Tuesday, the 27th, Mickey gave his notice. June 5th was his final day and yesterday we were so happy that he is now retired once again.

Mickey and I very much enjoy being together 24/7 .We have enjoyed that state many times, beginning in 1976 when we open our Real Estate business together and then in 1997 when he retired the first time and we travelled. Anyway we are very happy and we know that this is what he was suppose to do. We truly are busy about "redeeming the time" and "being about the Father's business."

  2. congratulations to mickey.

it is so reassuring, for me at least, to hear of a couple that enjoys spending so much time together.

i figure it will be this way for don and i, too, but not 100% sure until we actually get to that point. we probably have at least 10 more years but i have a feeling those will fly by.

one thing seems obvious. have at least one thing you enjoy doing together. you and mickey seem to have many. enjoy this season!

  3. Hi Susan,
I know you two enjoy all your time together be it working on not. (whatever is right at that point in your lives)
I'm sure you'll find lots of fun things to do together as Mickey is once again "retired"

may I be so bold as to ask what evidence you have that there was a supernatural intervention here?

  5. Your sweetie looks most comfy and content! Hooray to Mickey! Enjoy it! Jack and I also love, love, love being together. When we worked together that was sheer joy for us both. I never understood women who dreaded their hubby being retired and home with them.

  6. Happy Retirement, Mickey! It's good to hear that retirement for both of you doesn't mean that you sit around feeling useless! You are still active and allowing God to use you. What a wonderful way to spend retirement!

  14. Hi Susan, I was so glad to see that you checked in me while I was away! I'm so excited for you and your husband! I hope you both enjoy this time together! Hope the bee keeping goes well! There is a lady here, who keeps bees, and makes soap from the by-products! She sells the soap at our local farmers market and they are wonderful!

    Hugs, Rhonda ;)

And how exciting about the bees. My great-uncle had a honey stand near Bethlehem PA. Uncle Mark's Honey :) Take care and have fun!
