It is two bags of shredded money!!!.
(sorry I didn't get the picture turned before blogging it!!)
These little plastic bags are 6 1/2" tall by 4" wide.
Around the $ sign is a circle with the words
Federal Reserve Bank.
of Kansas City.
On the back, printed in another circle is:

replace all "unfit"
currency--worn, torn, or
dirty bills. Tenth District
offices in Kansas City,
Denver, Oklahoma City,
and Omaha shred about
$19 million in unfit
currency a
week.
My husband worked for Bri*nks Ar*mored C*ar and retired from there in 1997. This explains how we happen to have these interesting items sitting on the shelf in our guest bedroom. We have no idea how many millions they may be shredding 10 years later in 2007-8.
I thought this was an interesting and different item to share. Maybe some of you home school mom's can share this with your kids when teaching about money.
It's your show and tell fan here..... How cool! I always think about how something we put lots of worth into is really only paper...and shredded at some point to boot. Love this.

I LOVE your post! I have seen these before and even the Christmas wreaths they make out of it. I think that is so cool...oh, that is so the 60's...what should I say now?? Ok, let's just stick with cool!!

Very interesting bags of money, even if it's shredded to pieces :). I'm sure it becomes a great conversational piece in your home.

I used to work in a bank, and although I knew the old/torn/tattered notes were shredded, never seen any before.

ReplyDeleteI was in a local thrift shop on Wednesdsy and saw a similar bag of shredded currency. The label told the type of bill ($10, @20,etc) included in the bag.
