I had seen this and was aware of these. Based on the attack that our country is going through at this time, especially on our Christian based liberty and freedom, I felt the need to post this.

May we stand firm in defending our Rights that have been bestowed on us, not only in our National Constitution but in the Preamble of each and every one of our 50 states. These stood the firm test of time from 1776 to 1959 - 183 years. Surely, we must not cave in now.

My apologies to my intenational readers. I know that many other areas of the world are also facing many of the same issues we are here in America. I pray God leads you to stand firm to His word also.

Adventures with Honey Bees

Mickey has had some exciting adventures with his Honey Bees. This picture shows Mickey and our dear friend, Ronnie, sorting through the 2 hives hunting for the queen. As they finished this process, they never found the queen!!, they suddenly spot a swarm on our honeysuckle bushes. As soon as they spotted them they flew away. They got in their vehicles and drove, seeing if they could see where they landed, but they never located them.

Mickey was splitting his bee's into 2 hives and moved one hive back against our back privacy fence.

Then Mickey was out checking his bees, and once again noticed they were swarming around the honeysuckle bushes AGAIN. He quickly called Ronnie. Here they are just surveying and trying to figure out what to do next!!!

Setting up the ladder. Ronnie said, "Susan, you need to write a book." I almost do!!

Placing one piece of the hive box, a nuke, on the ladder. The nuke has been sprayed with lemon pledge to attact the bees by the cent. They are hoping the bees will all return to the box. After awhile the bees are mostly gone and Mickey assumes they are in the box. He seals it up for, just before dark, for the night.

The next morning he goes out to remove the seal and check the box. There was not one bee in this nuke!!!

Even Ronnie is perplexed over this development. They called John, another bee keeper from our church, and he says it was probably a "test" smarming. As of this writing Mickey, do to losing these bees, he was unable to develop a 3rd bee colony.

We may not know what is happening, or going on, but we know that Our God knows and we are not overly concerned. The worst that has happened is Mickey was unable to establish the 3rd colony.

By the way, the new hive which he set back by the fence is doing great!!!! So he has two hives this year which are doing well. He began this venture last year with one hive. Never a dull moment around our place :o)

Another busy week for us. Oh Thursday we were invited over to Don & Barbara's for chilli and then we all attended the Dave Ramsey symacast that was held at their church. It lasted 1 1/2 hours. We had gone to a conference by Dave Ramsey about 7 years ago in Oklahoma City. He didn't have a lot of new stuff to say, but he does believe our economy will come back and be okay if the government will just get out of the way. OOOOPPSSS ----- I don't think that is going to happen. As always, his main point is GET OUT OF DEBT!!! We are working hard to do just that.

My Tuesday night Bible Study is really getting interesting and we are learning so much. I'll share some on that later.

A Fun Luncheon - Bee Club - Devotional

Our Monday morning in-home Bible Study group took yesterday off from Bible study and 10 of us went to Muskogee for lunch. Muskogee is a town south of Tulsa. You might recognize the name from the song Merle Haggard made famous in 1969 titles "Okie from Muskogee"!!!!

We ate at Harmony House which is a restaurant is in old 2 story home, full of antiques. Their food is wonderful. It was my first time there.....it won't be my last.

On the right from the back: Pat, Shirley & Wantha Ann. Thelma had already left by the time I remembered to take the picture :o( and of course I am the photographer. What a fun time we all had. Wantha Ann picked me & Shirley up and did the driving. The ride to and from was also a great time of sharing. It is such a blessing to be a part of this group that God has put together.

Last night was our Bee Club meeting so we made the trip into Tulsa for that. As always the camaraderie is fun and we always learn a great deal. We've had so much going on that we've missed the last couple of months so it was great to attend.

The following is today's devotion from "The Word For Today". It was so good I wanted to share it with you:

MOVE FORWARD

"People once thought the world was flat and that you would sail off the edge. They thought man would never walk on the moon. In 1899 the U.S. patent office almost closed because the CEO said, "Everything that can be invented already has been." In retrospect his statement is ridiculous. But some of us have bought into the same philosophy about our lives. We stop learning because we're "too old". We're afraid to change careers in case we "jeopardize our pension." We don't pursue our dreams in case we fail or get ridiculed. We're so accustomed to self-imposed limitations that we tell ourselves, "I can't do that, so I can't do anything." In essence we're building a box, crawling inside, then looking for something to blame for our lack of faith. God didn't box you in you did, and you need to take the initiative for breaking out!

"When you get down to it there's very little difference in people. But the little difference amounts to a big difference, and the little difference is attitude; it determines whether you see life through the eyes of faith or the lens of fear. When others around him saw only giants and wanted to turn back, Kaleb said, "If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us." (Numbers 14:8 NKJV At that point two things happened. First, "All the congregation said to stone them" (verse 10). Second, "The glory of the Lord appeared in the Tabernacle".Caleb's critics said "no" but God said "yes." All you need is God's approval. When you have it, disregard the naysayers and move forward."

Busy - With a capital "B"

WOW - what a busy week I had last week......and this week is panning out to be almost as busy. My father use to say, "Busy people are happy people." I know we are very happy, so it must be true.

Sunday, a week ago, was of course Easter so after church I prepared a delicious ham dinner with all the trimmings. Suzette brought a delicious grape salad and Marc brought ice cream to have with our Strawberry shortcake. Of course our usual 2 church services and Sunday school.

Then Monday morning I had my woman's home bible study and that night attended a special meeting at another church. I didn't get home until 11 p.m.

Tuesday night I went to my other friends home bible study. I was really torn between going to it and the special meeting but I am one who believes in commitment. Our bible study was awesome and I knew I'd made the right decision.

Wednesday, as always we picked Aric up from school. He & Mickey went to Royal Rangers at our church and Wantha Ann & I went to the special meeting. We didn't get home until 11 p.m. again.

Thursday Mickey finally got to attend the special meeting with me and we took David and Kathy, church friends, with us. We didn't get home until midnight!!! and the meeting was still going and we heard we really missed out on some good stuff.

Friday we picked Oksana & Aric up from school and brought them home with us for the week-end. We took them to McD's for dinner and then left them at home and Mickey & I attended a birthday party for a young woman in our church celebrating her 40th!!! We were home by 9.

Saturday Suzette, Oksana & I had a "girls day out." We all three had pedicures and manicures. Then we went to Ro*n's Ha*mburgers, one of our favorite places, for lunch. Then we went to 6, yes 6!!! different shoe stores looking for hot pink heels for Oksana to wear with her prom dress. She found one paid she "sort of liked!" so we returned home without new shoes. Ginger, even after you reminding me I forgot the camera :o( !!!! But I have a treat below :o)

Grandpa and Aric had their "boy's day" which included a trip to Mc'ds!!!!!!

Sunday was Sunday School and Church, so wonderful to have Oksana and Aric attend with us. Another BIG highlight is my friend Kahri and her 4 children visited our church........YEAH!!!! Her husband, Michael, had to work but next week they will all be there. For those of you who have read my blog long know that Kahri & Michael are good friends from when we met about 4 years ago at the church we use to attend. They have our little miracle baby, who was not expected to live, and is now almost 4 1/2 years old. She is a living testimony to God's healing power and the STRONG faith of her parents.

After church we took the kids out to IH*OP for lunch.

Grandpa had to be "cool" and put on Oksana's sunglasses.

I did get a picture of this wonderful trio.

Dad, Marc, got back to town and picked them up about 4.

Last night at church we had a special singer who performed. He was good.

So not one day last week was it just a "stay at home day"!!! We also had damp, coolish, rainy and stormy days all week long. Friday night we even got out Code Red telephone call that woke us up to be aware of tornado conditions....but it was just a hard rain, wind and hail. All was well.

This week is lining up to be almost as busy......I'll report on that later. Have a great day and forgive me for not making the rounds visiting your posts. I'll get back on track soon.

SHOW & TELL #6 - Stamp Plate

Today I am showing a decoupaged plate that I bought when we were traveling in Canada. I bought it at a garage sale we stopped at. This was purchased by me in 1999 but since most of the stamps have 1964-65 dates on them and the price ranged around 5-6 cents I believe it was done in the later 60's.

It contains a total of 46 stamps. The two center stamps are Hemisfair '68 (which was held in San Antonio, Texas) and Indiana Sesquicentennial 1966.

On the outer edge of special interest to me, and the reason I bought the plate. are John Fitzgerald Kennedy and the eternal flame - 6 cent & First Man on the Moon - air mail 10 cents.

On the second row from the outer edge is New York Worlds Fair 1964-1965 - 5 cents.

This plate sets, among many other items, on my kitchen plate rail above the cabinets.

Thanks for letting me share yet another item that has memories for us and makes our house our home.

We are going to be picking up granddaughter Oksana and grandson Aric from school today and they will be with us until late Sunday. We are looking forward to is. Daughter, Suzette, and Oksana & I are going to have a "girls day out" for manicures, pedicures and lunch on Saturday. FUN!!!

I attended meetings with Rodney Howard-Browne on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday nights. I did not get home until around 11 each night. They were wonderful, and glorious!!!! If you EVER get a chance to hear him be sure and go.

I didn't go Tuesday night because I went to our Bible Study at my friends house. Mickey finally got to attend with me last night and we took some other friends, David and Kathy, with us. Tonight we are already committed to a church friends 40th BD celebration so we'll miss tonight. One of those times you'd like to be in 2 places at once!!!!

On March 5, Marzieh Amirizadeh Esmaeilabad and Maryam Rustampoor were arrested by Iranian security forces and labeled "anti-government activists," according to Farsi Christian News Network (FCNN).

Thirty year-old Marzieh and 27-year-old Maryam are being held at Evin Prison, which is notorious for treating women badly. "Both women are allowed just a one-minute telephone call everyday to their immediate families. Both are unwell and in need of urgent medical attention," FCNN reported. During their last call on March 28, Mazieh said that she was suffering from an infection and high fever. She said, "I am dying."Marzieh and Maryam's apartment was searched and their belongings were confiscated.



"Their only crime is that they are committed Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus,"





FCNN added. “They are being unfairly labeled as 'anti government activists' because of the hostility of the government towards practicing Christians."The women have reportedly been interrogated numerous times and were held in three different police detention centers before being sent to Evin Prison. FCNN reported an exorbitant bail amount of US$ 400,000 has been set even though Marzieh and Maryam's families have been told on numerous occasions that a judge is not available to discuss the case.

Marzieh and Maryam's arrest is the latest incident highlighting increased government intimidation of Christians in Iran. Believers are subjected to surveillance, arrests, imprisonment, and sometimes torture.

Please join me in prayer for these two young woman who are paying the price for their faith.

HOW CAN IT BE.........April 14th

Where have the past 3 months and 13 days gone?!!!!! I cannot believe how fast life is passing and how much is happening.......not only in our world at large but in my life.

My two woman's Bible classes are such a huge joy in my life. We are learning so much and sharing so much. I am making some wonderful new friends, true sisters-in-the-Lord. What a blessing and honor.

Last night Wantha Ann and I went to hear Rodney Howard-Brown. I'd seen him on TV a little but never it person. What a blessing and powerful service. Close to 1/4-1/3 of the entire audience went forward at the close of the service for salvation or re commitment. He is in Broken Arrow for 5 nights and I hope to be able to get back to several more services. Not tonight though because it's our Bible Study :o)

Our Monday morning Bible Study finished up the series of video tapes by Perry Stone on The Rapture. Boy what a powerful study it has been. We are taking a one week break, next week, by going out for lunch in Muskogee.

In addition. I have read 3 books, 11:59 by Jack Van Impe ~ Jerusalem Countdown by John Hagee, ~ & Escape the Coming Night by Dr. David Jeremiah. I am starting the 4th on the same topic, New Temple & The Second Coming by Grant Jeffrey.

I have studied a lot on the rapture and end-times over my lifetime, but with all the world events we are seeing come to pass, almost on a daily or weekly basis, we have to know how very close we are to the soon return of our Jesus!!!!!

Friday at noon we attended the noon Good Friday service at our Church. Our Easter service was fabulous with all three services, 2 morning and the evening packed out. On Sunday evening the singers and drama team put on the program and it was so good.

Sunday I fixed a big Ham dinner. Jacque & Benny went to Missouri to spend it with Benny's mom so they weren't here but in attendance were: Suzette & Dave, Jessica (believe it or not she didn't have to go into work until 5...YEAH!!), Marc, Oksana & Aric and Marc's friend DeAnn and her three sons, Mason, Aaron & Cody. This is the first time we had met the boys. They are 6th, 4th & 2nd graders and were all delightful. It was a lovely, fun afternoon AND we failed to take ONE PICTURE. Don't know what's going on with us lately about the pictures :o(

I went to the Dr. on April 2nd for just a general check-up. I had not been since August of 2007!!!! 2008 was just such a busy year and so much going one I just missed it altogether. Got my results and report last Friday and EVERT test was good. The only slight thing is my cholesterol is a little high. Pretty good......HUH?

We have had a lot of WIND - RAIN - and CHILLY temperatures and I'm sure most of you have heard of the terrible fires south and north of Oklahoma City. So many people lost their homes on Good Friday. We are hoping for Spring to finally get here soon.

I think this brings you up to day on what's been going on in our lives. Happy, busy, blessed and excited about what God is doing?

SHIRLEY & MARCY

Mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school.

He didn't want his mother to walk with him.

She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet

know that he was safe.

So she had an idea of how to handle it.

She asked a neighbor if she would

please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance,

so he probably wouldn't notice her.

She said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway,

it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl set out

following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor girl he knew.

She did this for the whole week.

As the two walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs,

Timmy's little friend noticed the same lady was following them

as she seemed to do every day all week.

Finally she said to Timmy,

'Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week ?

'Do you know her?'

Timmy nonchalantly replied, 'Yeah, I know who she is.'

The little girl said, 'Well, who is she?'

'That's just Shirley Goodnest,' Timmy replied, 'and her daughter Marcy.'

'Shirley Goodnest? Who the heck is she and why is she following us? '

'Well,' Timmy explained, 'every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm

with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much.

And in the Psalm, it says, 'Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me

all the days of my life', so I guess I'll just have to get used to it!'

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:


Why did God make mothers?

1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.


How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.


What ingredients are mothers made of?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.


Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.



What kind of little girl was your mom?

1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.


What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?


Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's whoyou got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.


What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.


What would it take to make your mom perfect?

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.


If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

SHOW & TELL #5 - Still Life Oil Painting

Happy first Friday of April!!! Time to participate in Kelli's Show & Tell. Go here to list your Show & Tell item on Mr. Linky and view all the other's who are participating today.

My Show & Tell today is this still life oil painting that is currently hanging in our home office. I don't know why the wall color looks turquoise!!! It is actually a lighter green than the frame.

I purchased this oil painting back in the late 70's. At that time Mickey & I would quite often take our boys, who were both still at home, and go over to Oklahoma City to spend a week-end. We would stay at the Hol*liday I*nn Sup*erd*ome. It was completely enclosed with a swimming pool, miniature golf and other activities in the center. It was a relaxing week-end for us and our sons loved going because of the swimming, golf and games.

One week-end when we were there they were having a painting auction on Saturday night in a ballroom. Mickey wasn't interested so he stayed in the room with the boys and I went down to the auction. I really was just going down to watch....but when this still life came up I just had to have it. I can't remember how much I paid for it, wish I could!!! Whatever it was, it was worth it because this lovely oil has hung in 4 different homes and we have enjoyed it thoroughly.

Thanks for letting me share just another little one of our treasurers that make our house our home.

MICKEY'S GARDEN #2

Wanted to give you an update on Mickey's garden since posting here on March 10th.

This is our lone fruit tree. We "think" it is a peach tree. Let me explain, when we were traveling we planted a peach seed and an apricot seed in 2 little containers. When we got home we placed the two containers outside by the garage side door and more or less forgot about them. A couple of years ago the one (?) had grown enough Mickey decided to plant it here in the back yard. This little trees has been growing now for 3 or 4 years. Last fall Mickey pruned it back and straightened up. Now this spring we have these lovely blossoms :o) Whether we will get any fruit (?) this year we don't know yet. We loved seeing it bloom and we'll let you know.

These are the 6 root seeds that he has planted: onion, radish, carrot, swiss chard, lettuce & spinach. He has also planted onions sets and behind the fence he has planted potato sets.


The onion sets were doing great and the radishes were already coming up. Then Mr. Weatherman informed us we were getting cold weather and SNOW!! We had to cover up the bed he had planted all those seeds in. I helped him with this cover, to bad no one was around to take a picture of the two of us trying to get this tarp down and fighting the wind. He puts the boards and then cement blocks to keep the tarp from blowing off.

Here you can see the snow that did come.

This side way picture is our 18 little pots of our tomato seeds coming up. All of them are 3-4 inches high now and doing well. We are keeping them on the kitchen table near the window.

Here are the seeds that are under our light in the garage.

From right to left these seeds are Lupine, Blue Sweet Pea and Sunflower. The Lupine & Sweet Pea seeds are from my friend Anita from Germany and the Sunflowers are from my friend, Jennifer in New Mexico. These are all really growing well. We already have some Lupine plants in the yard that we planted last year and weathered the winter. Jennifer's Sunflower's are now about 5" tall and will be planted outside along our fence just as soon as we are sure we'll have no more frost. We had frost on the ground this morning. No, not April's Fools....wish it were.

These seeds are not yet coming up they are Inpatient's, Watermelon and Cantaloupe.

Thanks for letting me share this update on Mickey's garden. We are so thankful to have the large backyard we do where we can have a nice garden and we are praising the Lord that Mickey is totally healed and able to enjoy his gardening and his bees.

Speaking of Mickey's bees......they are doing well and have also survived the winter well. I'm sure we'll be having some bee posts in the future.
