I am again participating in Spiritual Sunday. Please go here to visit the various posts for Spiritual Sunday.

"The art of being happy lies in the power

of extracting happiness from common things."

Henry Ward Beecher

I saw this quote by Henry Ward Beecher recently and liked it. Henry lived from 1813-1887 and was a Congregationalist clergyman. When I looked him up I was not surprised to find this information our because this quote could certainly tie in with one of my favorite verses.

"Not that I speak in respect of want:

for I have learned in whatsoever state I am,

therewith to be content,

I know both how to be abased,

and I know how to abound:

every where and to all things

I am instructed

both to be full

and to be hungry,

both to abound

and to suffer need."

Philippians 4: 11-12

May we truly be content right where we are with our Lord & Savior, right at this moment in time, right where He has placed us for what He is calling us to do today.

  1. Good post Susan. I think we, as Americans are spoiled and have not learned to be content very well!

because where we're heading is so glorious a place that we should be doing the happy dance every day till we get there! :-)

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God! Hard to do sometimes, but it does work every time!
