THE SABBATH

I love Sunday AND I love my life!!!

I am so thankful that God, in His wisdom, gave us the Sabbath. It truly is such a wonderful day in the life of a Christian as we "forsake not the assembling of ourselves together".

Our Pastor has been preaching the past several Sunday's about our Church being a Healing Place. Yesterday his message was HEALING FOR THOSE TRAVELING TOGETHER. He pointed out that our Christian walk is not a destination, we never "arrive" in this life, but a journey.....and a journey that we take together with others.

He pointed out that we are God's sheep, children, soldiers, body, citizens, ambassadors and bride. Then he pointed out that each of these belong to a larger group: sheep to flocks - children to a family - soldiers to an army - body having many different members - citizens of a country - ambassador to a kingdom - bride to a groom.

Then he pointed out that sometimes People Get Off Course - sheep get lost - children need to mature - soldiers receive wounds - our body becomes weak - citizens travel to a foreign land - ambassador misrepresents his country - bride is unfaithful.

The job of the church (that is EACH of us) is to Rescue - Recover - Restore. Rescue is to get to safety. Recover is accepting as part of the family of God. Restore is to make like new, as if no damage occurred.

Oh may we each endeavor to Rescue - Recover & Restore.
++++++++++++++++

We had been invited over to some new friends for a cook-out at 5 to celebrate her birthday which is actually today. They knew we attended the evening services and so we joined the other 4 couples, ate and ran.......and they invited us to come back after service for ice cream!!!
We had a guest speaker for the 6 o'clock evening service. Reza Safa, who was born and raised in Iran as a Muslim. He is a converted Christian who has a huge ministry preaching and reaching Muslim's for Christ. What a wonderful service that stirred our hearts.

We had invited our good friends of 31+ years, Don & Barbara, to come and hear Rev. Safa but hadn't heard back from them. When we got to church we were so happy to see their smiling faces waiting for us and getting to sit together through this informative service.

At 8:30 we were back at Don & Doris for ice cream and a wonderful visit. Don is a retired Assembly of God minister from California who recently moved to Coweta and are members of our church.
Meet our newest friends, Don & Doris.

Doris enjoying her birthday cone.
You can tell they are nutty and fun....just the kind of people we enjoy so much :o)

We are so grateful for this new relationship the Lord is developing with this wonderful couple. It all began months ago when we were sitting on a bench in Walmart prior to Mickey's heart surgery. They saw us sitting there and came up and said they recognized us from church. The 4 of us ended up doing our walk around Walmart together and then went into the coffee shop and sat and visited for a long time. Some people you just "hit it off with" right away and that is the way the 4 of us were.

I trust your Sabbath was as blessed as ours with a wonderful church body, wonderful services and surrounded with friendships. Most of all I pray you know JESUS as your personal Lord and Savior who makes all this possible. I cannot imagine life without HIM.

What In The World is Going ON?

These are the words on the back cover of Perry Stone's latest book.

If you are interested in The End Times , in my opinion this is another must read book.

Quoting from the back cover again: "There is an unsettling mood hanging like storm clouds over North America. Why is there so much upheaval on so many levels? Where is America moving, and where is the world heading? Who will emerge from among the sea of nations as the survivor and the leader?

In times of uncertainty, you want to know that things are under control and happening as planned. In Unleashing the Beast, Perry Stone demonstrates how biblical prophecies are playing out on the world stage today. In this informative and prophetically stirring book you will discover ...

~ That biblical prophecies and Islamic traditions both point to the rise of a coming kingdom and a global dictator who will seize the world

~ The role that current global concerns have in setting the stage for these End Time events to unfold

~ That God is -- and always has been -- in control in the midst of it all."

Have any of you read this book yet? If so I'd love to hear your opinions and views.

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to past, and to stand before the Son of man." Luke 21:36

SHOW & TELL #11 - Embroidery

Friday is Show & Tell time at Kelli's. I always enjoy sharing something of mine. Some times new, sometimes old!! Today it is something old.

This is a pair of pillow cases that I embroidered MANY years ago.
I began embroidering at the age of 8 when my parents gave me a sewing box, embroidery hoop, needles, thread and a very simple pattern for my birthday.
I took right to it and loved it and spent many, many pleasant hours embroidering various pieces. As I got older I added counted cross-stitching to my joys.
I wish I could tell you the exact age of this pair of pillow cases but I honestly don't remember exactly when I did them but I know it has to be at least 35 to 40 years ago.
As you can tell, they are in almost perfect condition. Although I did use them once in awhile I have mostly preserve them to be handed down to my children.
Thanks for letting me share yet a little bit more of me and mine with you.

PROUD TO BE AN OKIE!!!

An update from Oklahoma:

Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9, had a few liberals in the mix, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey, this is a conservative state, based on Christian values...! HB 1330 Guess what.......Oklahoma did it anyway,

Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. HB 1804. Hope we didn't send any of them to your state. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake. Guess what .......Oklahoma did it anyway.

Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegals to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Pelosi said it was unconstitutional. SB 1102 Guess what .......Oklahoma did it anyway.

We passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas, Montana and Utah as the only states to do so. More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi, Florida. Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. HJR 1003 Guess what .......Oklahoma did it anyway.

The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Recently Oklahoma passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles. I'm sure that was a set back for the criminals (and Obamaites). Liberals didn't like it -- But.. Guess what .......Oklahoma did it anyway.

By the way, Obama does not like any of this. Guess what .... who cares... Oklahoma is doing it anyway.

Humor is always good - especially children's

While I sat in the reception area of my doctor's office, a woman rolled an elderly man in a wheelchair into the room. As she went to the receptionist's desk, the man sat there, alone and silent. Just as I was thinking I should make small talk with him, a little boy slipped off his mother's lap and walked over to the wheelchair. Placing his hand on the man's, he said, 'I know how you feel. My mom makes me ride in the stroller too.'.

As I was nursing my baby, my cousin's six-year-old daughter, Krissy, came into the room. Never having seen anyone breast feed before, she was intrigued and full of all kinds of questions about what I was doing. After mulling over my answers, she remarked, 'My mom has some of those, but I don't think she knows how to use them.'

Out bicycling one day with my eight-year-old granddaughter, Carolyn, I got a little wistful. 'In ten years,' I said, 'you'll want to be with your friends and you won't go walking, biking, and swimming with me like you do now. Carolyn shrugged. 'In ten years you'll be too old to do all those things anyway.'

Working as a pediatric nurse, I had the difficult assignment of giving immunization shots to children. One day I entered the examining room to give four-year-old Lizzie her needle. 'No, no, no!' she screamed. 'Lizzie,' scolded her mother, 'that's not polite behavior.' With that, the girl yelled even louder, 'No, thank you!. No, thank you!

On the way back from a Cub Scout meeting, my grandson asked my son the question. ' Dad , I know that babies come from mommies' tummies, but how do they get there in the first place?' he asked innocently. After my son hemmed and hawed awhile, my grandson finally spoke up in disgust. 'You don't have to make something up, Dad . It's OK if you don't know the answer.'

Just before I was deployed to Iraq , I sat my eight-year-old son down and broke the news to him. 'I'm going to be away for a long time,' I told him. 'I'm going to Iraq .' 'Why?' he asked. 'Don't you know there's a war going on over there?'

Paul Newman founded the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children stricken with cancer, AIDS and blood diseases. One afternoon he and his wife, Joanne Woodward, stopped by to have lunch with the kids. A counselor at a nearby table, suspecting the young patients wouldn't know that Newman was a famous movie star, explained, 'That's the man who made this camp possible. Maybe you've seen his picture on his salad dressing bottle?' Blank stares. 'Well, you've probably seen his face on his lemonade carton.' An eight-year-old girl perked up. 'How long was he missing?'

His wife's grave side service was just barely finished, when there was a massive clap of thunder, followed by a tremendous bolt of lightning, accompanied by even more thunder rumbling in the distance. The little old man looked at the pastor and calmly said, 'Well, she's there.

May happiness smile on your world and in your heart..

Spiritual Sunday #4

I am once again participating in Spiritual Sunday. Go here to read other posts on Spiritual Sunday.

"Now we are children of God, and we have not yet been shown what we will be in the future." I John 3:2 NCV

YOU'RE A W.I.P.

"The surest way to get discouraged is to compare yourself with others. The Bible says, "Don't compare yourself" (Gal 6:4 CEV), because some people will look like they're doing a better job and you'll get disheartened, while others won't be as effective and you'll become proud. "Concentrate on doing your best" (2 Ti 2:15 TM). That way, "You will get the satisfaction of a job well done and...won't need to compare yourself" (Gal 6:4 NLT). All the apples on a tree don't ripen at the same time. Paul says, "knowledge and understanding" take time (See Php 1:9-10). One successful author says, "When I began writing, I found myself fumbling with that part of myself. 'I want to be a writer,' I'd think, 'but I have to get this number of books published and this number of good reviews first.' It can take years and many successes in any new area...before we can confidently say to ourselves and other, 'I am'...what has God called you to do? Don't wait until you're successful...Start now by saying you are what you want to become...Yes, you've much to learn...and you may not be an expert...but you don't have to be, to say those two little words I am." "John writer: "Now we are children of God, and we have not yet been shown what we will be in the future." God uses crooked sticks to draw straight lines and imperfect people to do His perfect will. So, push ahead, cut yourself some slack, and remember you're a W.I.P. -

a work-in progress!"

RED & GREEN CHILI PEPPERS

We had another VERY exciting week. One facet if it was spending parts of 3 days working up Chili Peppers.
Our friends who have the Bi-Polar dog, (remember "Bear"?) brought us back 2 large size bags of lovely, wonderful Hatch chili. If you are familiar with it you know how very happy we were to receive this lovely gift.
The first thing with Chili peppers is to roast them. The last time I did some, about 3 years ago, I did it in the oven. Which took forever!!! We do not have a grill but our son, Marc, does so on Tuesday went to his house to do the roasting on his nice, big, gas grill. Can you believe I forgot my camera :o( ? Well, I did.....so no pictures of the process. Oksana pitched in and helped us and we were finished within 2 hours. Oh my they smelled sooooo good. We left a few with Oksana.
I couldn't wait to come home and have some on a baloney and cheese sandwich. Yummy.....but the red ones were also H-O-T.

This picture was taken on Wednesday of all of the roasted chili dumped in my kitchen sink. Don't know why the green chili looks yellow!! I began peeling and removing the seeds from this huge pile on Wednesday. Any one who has worked with Chili knows you have to be very careful not to touch your eyes with your fingers. All the instructions tell you to wear gloves, when working with them, but I am one who absolutely cannot stand to use gloves and have never had any trouble being careful and cautious with my hands.
I share some more of the roasted one's with Marc and my friend, Wantha.
Ahhhh....I finished the peeling and de-seeding on Thursday. Here is the finished product. The 3 tomatos are from our small patio plant and the orange (that is the true color) tomato is a heritage tomato we got. Just one so far!!!!!

Finished, bagged chili ready for the freezer. 9 bags of the green

8 bags of the red.

Can anyone say "YUM"? We can, and do. Thank you so very much Mike, Loretta & Mikey.

Army soldier in Iraq

An Army soldier in Iraq with his tiny 'plot' of grass in front of his tent. It's heartwarming!

Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq, stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil -- to bring them good luck.

If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted. Upon receiving this, say a little prayer for our soldiers that give and give (and give up) so unselfishly for us.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. In Jesus' name, Amen

TOWN HALL MEETING

Friday, August 14th, one of our 2 Oklahoma Senators, Tom Colburn, held a Town Hall meeting from 9-10 a.m. It was scheduled to be held in the Broken Arrow Community Theater. The crowd was so BIG that it was moved 3 blocks to the Broken Arrow Community City gym. Cars were parked everywhere and we ended up parking on a side street down a ways and walking.

Here are people rushing in to get their seats at the gym.

This was the entrance we were heading for.

Two sets of bleachers across the gym floor from the two sets on which we were seated on the third row of one.

Two more sets of bleachers to our right. A total of 6 bleachers and then people sitting on the floor and chairs brought in on the side which had no bleachers.

Senator Colburn answering questions.

A closer view of Senator Colburn.

It was a totally orderly group. The crowd was a group of all ages, although perhaps senior citizens out numbered by a bit. The majority seemed to be against Obama's health care plan as it currently stands, although it was felt that something has to be done about our current health care system. and problems. The majority consensus of opinion is that it needs to be reformed but for the government not to take it over.

There was one woman who walked the entire perimeter of the gym, in front of the bleachers and chairs, the entire time carrying a sign about Change. No one bothered her and she was even one of the questioners.

One assistant walked around and gave the mic to various ones to ask questions. I think there were about 9 or 10 questions asked. Most of Senator Colburn's answers were met with much applause, clapping, hurrahs & stomping of feet.

Tom Colburn is a Medical Doctor so he has a great understanding of the medical system as it currently stands, both good and bad.

We left feeling really good about the interest and support in our area for the Congress to take their time and truly come up with a Health Care plan that will take care of people and the problems we currently face and yet stick to the Constitution. There was a general opinion, with the majority of the people, that Obama and the current majority Congress and House of Representatives are getting our country into too much debt and usurping too many powers.

Our other Senator, Jim Inholf, is not holding Town Meetings but has a statement of his stand on the Health Care issue on his web sight. This Town Hall meeting was one of 9 that Senator Colburn is holding.

We didn't get any national news coverage and I'm sure it was because our area is one they felt would not be contentious or make for big news!!!

We were proud to be a part of this Town Hall. Proud that we have a Senator who gets out among the people, not only at this occasion but others. I hope if you have a chance to attend a Town Hall in your area by your Senator or Representative that you will take part.

We ALL need to be good Citizens of our Great Country and do all we can to ensure that it stays the Great Country is has been. Take your stand and make your voice heard.

August 11 - The movie with Oksana which I will post here.

Mix all this in with Church Sunday a.m. & p.m. - Bible Study Monday morning - Bible Study Tuesday evening - Church Wednesday evening - several Thursday evenings out to dinner with friends, Don & Barbara.

Oh, and bee extraction's (2) - and don't forget all the food preparation for the 2 large dinner parties, plus the clean-up!

Wheeeeeeee I'm tired...... but wouldn't have missed one minute of any of this wonderful, blessed life the Lord allows Mickey & I to share.

School starts next Thursday, August 20th. Boy that seems early. When our kids were in school it started the Monday after Labor Day. Even the kids have been put on a faster pace and schedule.

We wanted to do something "special" with Aric & Oksana before they had to be back in school. I've shared Aric's trip to the Space Museum and we let Oksana choose what she wanted to do.

Monday evening after our family get together at Ma*car*oi's Grill Oksana came home with us and spent the night. After a big breakfast, lazying around watching TV, then fixing and eating lunch and seeing Karen & Tommy off, Oksana and I RUSHED to Tulsa and the movie theater to see Ju*lie - Ju*lia. Now as most of you know, I am not a big movie or video watching fan but Oksana loves to go to the movies.

This is an adorable, entertaining movie and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and so did Oksana. I would highly recommend it to any and all. The story was delightful.....When Oksana selected it she said, "It's about blogging grandma so I'm sure you'll like it". It was ..... I did. The acting was excellent and the story was delightful. I did not realize until we had seen it that it was a true story. I knew the part about Ju*lia Ch*ilds was but not the part about Ju*lie.

Just one negative point.....I think it is highway robbery that 2 small soda drinks and 1 medium pop-corn to share during the movies cost $13.25!!!!!!! This goes totally against my frugal life style and idea of correctness. But, hey.....it's only once a year and what's a movie with out pop and pop-corn? Not gonna happen!!!!

I'll be posting tomorrow about what Mickey & I did Friday, August 14th. Another exciting adventure and privilege.

Today is another busy day - Ronnie is coming over for Mickey to help him with more honey extraction.

CELEBRATING - Karen & Tommy

Mickey niece, Karen and her husband Tommy paid us a lovely visit Sunday & Monday. They had been in Ft. Worth for the Cope*land Meeting August 3-8.

I posted about our visit last year to their Maturia horse farm in Chesapeake, VA. Karen is the daughter of Mickey's oldest brother and we have always been especially close to her because of her & Tommy's love for Jesus.

So I had 12 of us for dinner Sunday evening but didn't take any pictures :o( I made up for it later though as you will see!!!! The dinner was Spiral ham, candied sweet potato, mashed potato, green beans and french bread. Benny brought his delicious Broccoli /Cauliflower/Bacon salad & Suzette brought a Cheesecake Factory cheesecake and butterscotch & chocolate toppings. Yes, we do love to eat and always have a wonderful meal. The ones missing from the 16 present at last Sunday's dinner were David, back in California, and Deann's 3 son's who were with their father.

Monday morning after I fixed breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs, fresh tomato, toast & coffee (milk for Tommy who is not a coffee drinker!) we took them to see Oral Roberts University. They are doing massive construction around ORU (we were not aware of that) and so we were not able to see the presentation at the Prayer Tower. The students were also arriving and moving into their dorms so it was a buzzing place.
Karen in front of the Prayer Tower. Usually there are beautiful gardens to see surrounding the tower, plus being able to go in, see the presentation of Oral Roberts life history and go up and view all around from the center part.

Here are the 4 of us standing in front of the Praying Hands at the entrance off Yale Blvd.

A close-up at the base of the hands. There were a group of young men taking pictures as we arrived and we offered to take pictures for them and they reciprocated.

After touring the grounds and at least seeing all the buildings from the exterior we took them to a local eatery, Ron's Burgers. They have the best chili covered burgers, Spanish fries (french fries with grilled onions and jalapenos) and frosted mugs of root-beer.

We were so stuffed and it was so hot, 101 degrees that day, that we came on back home to rest because we were all going out to dinner again in the evening.

This is NOT a staged picture. Tommy had fallen asleep on the couch. Mickey was asleep across our bed. Karen was sitting at the end of the couch by Tommy. I was doing something out of the room and when I returned here was Karen also asleep!!!!! I had to take the picture and show it.

That evening at 7 we all met at Ma*caroni Grill. Suzette & Dave were absent because Suzette had a business meeting and couldn't come.

Jacque, Benny, Jessica & Josh

Tommy, Karen & Aric

Another of Tommy, Karen & Aric

Susan & Mickey

Grandma with Oksana

Deann & Marc

All 12 of us

Karen & Tommy participated in Mickey & my morning Bible reading of Revelation and watching the chapters we read on the Per*ry Stone tapes. What a treat that was for us.

Then I fixed bacon, scrambled eggs, & toast breakfast again. I'm not very creative on the breakfast end. Karen did a load of clothes and the 4 of us watched the Arlen Spector Town Meeting!!!! We were all glued to the TV. That was something. Glad people are beginning to make their voice and wishes known.

After a lunch of ham sandwiches, chips, cookies and soft drinks it was time for them to leave. We wished they could have stayed another day or two but they needed to be back by Friday and were stopping to see 2 more uncles, Jerry & Ronnie, in Tennessee.

The final shot and then hugs & good-byes and they were off. What a joy to have them for even a short visit with all of us.

Karen brought us a jar of her home make Concord grape jelly. YUM!!!! Thanks!!!

Tulsa Air & Space Museum & Planetarium

Last Friday, August 7th, we took Aric to Tulsa's Air & Apace Museum & Planetarium.

This year there were having a special 2 day celebration honoring the Armed Services and they had 12 aircraft on display out on the runway and they had two huge balloons for the kids to play in out on the grass in front of the Museum. You can see from this picture how large they were.

This was a really cute 3 part balloon blow-up.

This is the middle section and Aric is standing up, so that gives you an idea of the size of these blowups.

Here is another part of this one where they had to crawl through. You can see he is having a grand time and he did both of these many times.

Here's Aric & I in front of the Red Cross emergency helicopter that they use to remove injured service men from the battles

Aric sitting in the cockpit of the Red Cross helicopter with Grandpa looking on.

This special event was hosted by Channel 8 and here is Aric and the pilot in front of the news helicopter.

This wasa T-45 Goshawk used by the Navy for advanced strike-fighter training. The pilot is LCDR Justin Lewis from Choctaw, OK and came from Kingsville, TN.

This is one of Tulsa's Police helicopter. Piloted by Tulsa Police officer Byron Barnhart . Carrying a Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) Camera and the "Night Sun Spotlight," criminals can run, but they can't hide.

In addition to the few planes I've shown pictures of here he also saw: Marine H-34 Choctaw - Air Force T-38 Talon - Navy T-44 Pegasus - Army H-60 Black Hawk - Air Force T-1 Jayhawk - Navy E-2 Hawkeye - Navy C-2 Greyhound - Air Force F-5 Tiger - Air Force T-6A Texan II & Navy E-6 Tacamo. A wonderful display and he pilots were so nice and willing to talk to the kids and explain the air craft to them.

Here Aric is positioning a red dot inside an area by using his feet and hands to manipulate this machine. He also did the robotic arm where he moved, by remote control, an object , pulling it out of a hole from one side and manipulating it to another hole on the other side some distance away.

We didn't take a lot of pictures inside the Museum because we'd shown a lot of it in our post last year here.

Here we are in the Planetarium ready to watch the presentation about the universe called "BIG". And boy is it ever BIG.

This Science Matters truck was parked outside by the balloon blow-ups and was full of various electronic games and tasks. Aric, who loves science, spent a great deal of time in here. In this picture he and the other boy beside him have pulled themselves up off the ground by pulling the pulley.

We had lunch once again as we did last year at Evelyn's Soul Food cafe. A sparking clean place you'd never know about unless you worked in this area near the museum. Delicious food: Mickey & I had turkey & dressing dinner and of course Aric ordered a deluxe cheese burger with fries. Yummy and boy were we hungry, hot and tired!!!!

Looks like this is turning out to be an annual event for us.
