A NEW YEAR - A word & a goal

The past 2 years, our Pastor has given us a Phrase for a Goal for our Church for the year. In 2007 it was "Not without Jesus". 2008 was "I want More". I was waiting for Church yesterday to see what the Phrase would be for this year and going to post about these. This year he didn't really speak about a phrase but during his sermon he made the statement "I'm Here for HIM". I love that and am going to be repeating this Phrase throughout the year to remind myself.

For both 2007 & 2008 I noticed some of you choosing a WORD for yourself for the New Year. I had not done that before but am going to participate in this for 2009. The word the Lord laid on my heart is Unity. I was torn between Perseverance, Remnant & Unity.

"Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect, man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ." Ephesians 4:13

Unity - (yoo-ni-tee) - noun

1. the state of being one; oneness.

2. whole or totality as combining all its parts into one.

3. the state of fact of being united or combined into one, as of the parts of a whole; unification.

4. absence of diversity; unvaried or uniform character.

5. oneness of mind, feeling, etc., as among a number of persons; concord, harmony, or agreement.

So, "I'm Here for HIM" to be used use as He chooses in bringing us together in Unity. I am eager to see how God developes me in this word and this word in me.

Have you picked a word or phrase for 2009? I'd love to hear what God is putting on your hearts.

Very nice - I'll have to ask the Lord for a word for me, too.

I ask for a word. It seems like such a great way to focus.

My word is "Hope". It has so much meaning to it, and I have so much to learn about it.

I'll pray that God will give me a word. You mentioned the word Remnant. I've been studying Isaiah for the past 4 months. That word rings strong in my heart.

I'll think on it.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Awesome! I feel so much more "prepared" in a way, when I have a word to focus on.

Thanks for inspiring me to get back on the task of thinking/praying on this!

I would have to say trust is my word for the year, as I've been going through some things lately that has lead me to have to depend and trust in God for HIS care a provision!

I was very blessed to find your blog through my friend Bobbi's blog.

Blessings to you!

Wow! I love this Susan. I think your word meshes nicely with your phrase, and like you said it will be interesting to see how God chooses to make it all real for you in the coming year. Thanks for sharing with us!

By the way. In 2005 I had perseverance. It was awful. I hated that word. It was a hard, hard year persevering through some tough circumstances. I even had to keep a job that I was ready to get out of. It is sort of like praying for patience. BE CAREFUL!!

Ha! I'm glad you got Unity.

What a great post. I would have to say that my word would be "trust". I know that God is able and I can trust Him and I want to remember that each and every day.

Happy New Year!

I believe I'd pick the word 'grace' because I'm realizing more and more how powerful his grace is towards me. I'll be studying this word deeper during this year and really get the understanding of it in my spirit.
