Since it's Friday that means it's Show & Tell time at Kelli's. Pick something special to show us. After you write your post sign up on Mr. Linky so other's can come and see and read about it. It's lots of fun and some really neat & unusual things are shown.

I am showing a piece of my Indian Jewelry.

This turquoise bracelet is special to me for several reasons:

  1. It was given to my mother, by my older sister and her husband as a gift.

  2. It was a blue ribbon winner at the New Mexico State Fair in the 1950's.

  3. My mother gave this bracelet to me before her death in the 1980's.

  4. I was born and raised in New Mexico and have a love of the culture.

The bracelet is constructed as follows:

  1. It has 3 bands of silver that run from one side to the other.

  2. Each side has the identical etched silver shape on the side of the stone.

  3. The stone itself is surrounded by a twisted silver filigree.

  4. The stone is a large beautiful turquoise.

This bracelet will remain in our family and be handed down as a heirloom.

Thank you for letting me show you my lovely 50+ year old tuquoise bracelet and share it's history with you.

  2. what a nice piece of jewlery. I haven't owned a piece of indian jewlery in years. I once remember my father coming home from a road trip (he was a truck driver) with some copper bracelets made from some Indians. I recall it turning my wrist green!

I'm late posting my S&T, but just did. We are still on vacation, going home tomorrow. We've run into some sickness, etc. while here, but I'm still having a good time! Glad I have my computer, and some good reading here with me, and the weather is great!

  24. It's absolutely gorgeous ! Turquoise are one of my favourite stones and I have quite a lot of jewelry in turquoise. I mostly bought it in Egypt. But I saw a lot of jewelery when we were in the States in 1971 for the first time. Many at that time "Indians" sold them on the streets in Arizona. Unfortunately at that time I didn't pay attention to turquoises.
