Our trip to Nova Scotia is coming up soon!
If there is ANYONE reading this from Nova Scotia would love to hear from you.
We will be in both Halifax and Pictou.
We went around Cape Breton in 2000.
Is there anything, or any place, that is a must visit?
Any advice and information will be greatly appreciated.
We are also going up and around the Gaspe'
Any information about what to see and do here will be appreciated, too.

Mickey's veg look great. Mine won't be ready for a month or more. I was late planting, and only have lettuce so far.
I am so impressed with the veggies!
Oh and I have heard the 'grill' comment from the boys. All up in my grill! Then they smile with the braces!

Sounds like a wonderful trip. I wish I could grow plants and veggies like that. I think the soil isn't as fertile here as it is in other places.
The "grill" is funny. I love it that she seems proud of it. I remember keeping my mouth shut for weeks when I got mine.

I'm late dropping by here but I just found you and I saw your question about Nova Scotia. We have been there several times, our daughter went to Acadia University in the Annapolis Valley, she married a guy from Chester, they lived in Halifax and will be home for a couple of months. So our ties to NS are deep!
In no particular order, these are some of our favourite spots:
- Peggy's Cove - world famous, on the South Shore drive out of Halifax about 1/2 hour
- on the way, Mahone Bay with the 3 beautiful churches along the water, a very interesting pewter studio and a great quilt shop.
- Lunenberg(continuing on down the South Shore) for the history, especially of Germans in NS
- across to the west is the Annapolis Valley for farming, orchards and the history of the Acadiens
- the west coast of NS borders the Bay of Fundy with its enormous tides. You can see the Tidal Bore near Windsor - just ask in the Valley and they'll point you to the farmer's field vantage point (seriously!).
- In Halifax: Point Pleasant Park ( although Hurricane Juan and the pine beetle (I think) have devastated it but you can still see the harbour, the defense fort ruins and beautiful trees. Along the waterfront, the Maritime Museum is interesting and has good Titanic and Halifax explosion sections. Pier 21 is where immigrants landed and were processed. It's been restored and is full of history, memorabilia and emotion. Also on the waterfront, you can take a harbour cruise and have lunch in many different restaurants. Our favourite is Murphy's on the Water. Go up on Citadel Hill to see the fort and hear about defense of the harbour.
