SHOW & TELL #15 Pearl Collar

Well here it is Friday again. At my house that means Show and Tell with Kelli!!!! I really look forward to Friday and seeing and reading about all the wonderful items and things that my fellow blogland friends show. If you haven't yet joined in the fun I encourage you to do so. It is a real blessing. So jump on over to Kelli's, at There Is No Place Like Homeand, and read all about it. Select something to Show and Tell and then sign up on Mr. Linky and share it with all of us.

I am once again showing one of my keepsakes from my teenage years in the 50's!!! This is a pearl (not real of course) collar. If you enlarge the picture you can see it also is adorned with rhinestones. Mine has yellowed over the 50 years I've had it but you can tell how lovely it was.

These were worn with a short sleeve sweater or a sweater set. I looked for a picture with me wearing it but couldn't find one. That surprises me because I wore it a LOT. We also didn't take a lot of pictures in those days.

Do any of you remember these? Do any of you still have one? I'd love to see yours.

Hope you enjoyed my Show and Tell...........Now I'm off to visit and see all of yours!!!

Have a wonderful and blessed day in the Lord.

Wow, it looks like an Indian beaded necklace or one of the crocheted collars that I wore in high school. I've never seen one of these, but I bet you were beautiful wearing it. It's awesome!

Oh Susan, that's beautiful!! I remember those, but I didn't have a pearl one. I think the aging of your pearls gives it such a glow.

It's beautiful. I do remember them, but I was just a young kid in the 50's and I never got to own or wear a lovely pearl collar like that. Great memories for you, though.

What a beautiful "pearl" collar! I remember all those sweater sets...and sometimes see them again on Perry Mason TV shows which Mr. Pear loves to watch...(I giggle at the pointy bras! Those were the days!)

I was thinking I had one of those back then, but surely I would have kept it! My mother crocheted a seed pearl belt for me, and I do still have it! Hmmm, that's another show and tell!

It's beautiful!

Susan I have never seen anything like that. I had a collar that I would wear like a necklace but it was made of lace and crochet and fit right on the dress as if it were made for it. But I have never seen a pearl necklace that looks like a collar. That is really pretty.

Susan,

That is so beautiful. What a treasure. I've never seen anything like this and think it should be "brought back"...how classy looking.

I don't think I've seen a pearl collar, though I do remember the lace collars and crocheted collars and had one I used to wear over a green dress, as I remember.

That is so pretty1

I've never heard of these before, but your's is very pretty. I did not save much from my childhood, and I do not save much these days. You are so good about that.

I remember those1 I had a smaller version, but don't know what happened to it. I think it is great that you kept things like thie and that beautiful little "prom purse" you showed. Wonderful treasures.

I'm not showing this week. Actually, I'm having difficulty just visiting these days. Too many irl concerns taking my energies. I will get back in the groove before long!

Susan...How neat is that. I absolutely love the style of clothes and jewelry from the 40's and 50's. In fact, if I could get away with it, I would wear all of the "flowy" dresses. How wonderful that you kept this piece of jewelry. Even though it may have yellowed a bit, it is still beautiful.

It IS pretty!! What a neat piece of jewelry.

Hi Susan,

I am a bit late to admire your last show & tell. Oh, you seem still have many of those old treasures from your teenage years, havn't you? What a nice keepsake!

By the way, I sent you an e-mail on Friday, did you get it?

Best wishes and have a wonderful week-end! We are just having breakfast in the sun!

Susan~
The last few times I have written comments I wasn't able to post (due to my own technical issues!). I just wanted you to know that I have been praying for you and your entire family... especially your son and grandson as they adjust to the absence of your precious granddaughter. I know your heart aches and I am so, so sorry.

I will keep you all in my prayers.
