SHOW & TELL #17 - Counted Cross Stitch
My goodness.....here it is Friday again and time for Show & Tell at Kelli's, There Is No Place Like Home. Isn't this fun? I love seeing what everyone shows each week. What a great, wonderful idea you host, Kelli. Thank YOU!! If you're new go over to Kelli's site and find out all about it and the guidelines. Pick a Show & Tell and post it and then go back to Kelli's again and sign up on Mr. Linky. It's that easy!!
This first one hangs in our main bathroom and says, "No tears past the gate."
This one I did for my husband and says "My love will never let you go." It hangs over his dresser in our bedroom.
My Show & Tell for this week are two Precious Moments counted cross stitch pieces I did in the 1980's.

I hope you enjoyed viewing a couple of my counted cross stitch work.
Now it's time for me to go and visit all your Show & Tell's.
Have a great Friday

Wow, I have a friend who does cross stitch crib blankets for families in crisis...and the work has ALWAYS fascinated me. It astounds me that so much work is involved...and they come out so perfect each time!! I'm really envious of your talent.
Mine's shared
Susan I LOVE Precious Moments! I started the "No Tears Past the Gate" one years ago, but then I kept having kids so didn't finish it! LOL I made a Precious Moments cross stitch for a friend of mine too and one for my aunt. I love cross stitch.
Susan,
I'm a precious moments collector, and a cross stitcher, so I loved this. MANY hours went into those, I know!
I would be way proud of those cross stitch treasures. I am just not able to do that kind of work. Never turns out correctly...So I just really admire that kind of work.
Take care,
Connie
Susan,
I like both the cross stitch pieces...both are such good thoughts....
After doing my Show and Tell in the wee hours of the morning, I remembered something else I wanted to add....if you have time to return....Betty
I strated teaching the girlies to cross stitch this week. Silly-Head took one look at the simple butterfly pattern (large aida cloth, simple pattern for children) and immediately told me all the colors she wanted to change!
What nice cross-stiches. :) No Tears past the Gate is so sweet and touching.
Love it. I love precious moments. I have a little collection of them.
I used to counter cross stich too.
Hello Sue, very cute cross stitches. I am not posting on the show and tell this week bacause my posting does not fall in the new guidelines but stop by and have a view. Sarah
I've always enjoyed Precious Moments. You have great patience to create these. Blessings...
Susan I love Precious Moments! You did a wonderful job!!
I love visiting on show and tell, I am really enjoying getting to see all of the things you find special!
My mom used to cross stitch all the time when I was little, and her favorites were the Precious Moments scenes.
Brings back memories.
Beautiful, Susan! And I love Precious Moments!
I have never cross-stitched in my life, but maybe one of these days, I'll learn...love it!
nice work there, susan. i used to do counted cross stitch and loved it. it was so relaxing and i loved the process of the picture taking form by my hands. do you still cross stitch?
I love these!! My sister loves to do cross stitch and she blessed me and my husband so much with one for our wedding.
Oh, and Precious Moments...so sweet! :) Happy Friday!!
I love the cross stitch. I used to do that until I had kids. I even made my friend a baby blanket for the crib and had Craig's grandma turn it into a comfortor for me. Love it!
My oldest son's nursery was decorated in Precious Moments. I love cross-stitch, and I'm working on poem about fatherhood for my husband.
Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful work. I was a teenager in the 80's and I remember both x-stitching a lot and all the Precious Moments things in everyone's homes! I never was patient enough with the xstitch to make it beautiful back and front... it looks like you were (are)! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful! I love Precious Moments!
I love Precious Moments! I have done some counted cross stitch, but it has been awhile. Yours are lovely!
How wonderful and precious indeed, Susan!
Do you still do cross stitching nowadays?
I did some pieces a couple of years ago but ... oh, I don't dare to say it... I sold them on our yard sale last year because I did not like them anymore!
It's raining over here, I just came back from the office! My wish for some sunshine this week-end won't come true!
Best wishes, Anita
Your cross stitches are lovely.
Susan,
The pictures are so sweet. I like Precious Moments.
Very pretty and neat work you've done on these! That's a lot of counting!! My eyes won't allow me to work on my cross-stitch much these days. I miss it!
I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch years ago. Those are cute as can be Susan.
They are beautiful - precious moments and cross stitch are a perfect combination. I did some back when we were first married - but it is too hard to keep my place with the little ones around, so I've taken up knitting. I don't really have time for that, but at least I can pick it up and work on it without have to count!! lol
Have a wonderful weekend Susan!
Those are so adorable! I have lots and lots of Precious Moments cross stitch and I adore them.
Those are really cute. I used to cross stitch some of those patterns back in the 80s, too, but I got out of the habit. I collect the figurines and actually have the little boy holding the fish. It's very cute.
Susan, I have a collection of the figurines and I cross stitched until my fingers about fell off. I loved it! I made many, many gifts and am sad to say that I do not have one single piece in my own house to show my handy work. Oh well, I'm glad I blessed others with my craft.
I still have all of my figurines downstairs in a cabinet. I hope to take up knitting this fall. I think I'm going to take a class so I can learn how to make a baby blanket....just in case :)
I've always loved Precious Moments, I have seven figurines. I never did the cross-stitch, but my daughter did it for me! She was only ten or twelve and I would pay her to do the ones I wanted! She was very good at it!

For some reason the first paragraph was missing! I also said yours are beautiful, and such special sentiments!
Katherine
I Precious Moments and cross stitch and even have a couple of Precious Moments pattern books, but never did any of them. Maybe some day! They are so cute!
That was supposed to be "I love Precious Moments..." Somehow I left out a word! :-)
I love your precious moments cross-stitches Susan!
Hope you have a blessed weekend!
love,
Annie
Very Nice
:)
I love cross stitch - and I love Precious Moments. Needless to say, I loved your show and tell.
Have a great week.

I've been out of town so I'm playing "catch up" tonight on my blog reading. It's been fun seeing what you've been up to.
Hugs!
Kat
Oh, I just adore Precious Moments and your cross stitch is absolutely beautiful!!
Julieann
I used to do cross stitch years ago too. I have no idea where they are now! Lovely pictures to share with us, Susan!
I've always loved the Precious Moments characters and those two pictures you cross stitched are just gorgeous!! xox
They are beautiful. You did a great job!!
I can't sew, but I love to do counted cross-stitching! I have mine packed, but when I unpack them, there is one I definitely would like to share. I made it for my oldest daughter...while I was pregnant with her actually. I started one for my son, but never finished it, we were moving(at the time-9yo ago) and it got lost in the shuffle, but when I unpack this time, I hope to fing it...and finish it.
Lovely job!!
God Bless,
Amber
It is very lovely. I wish I could do something like that.
Oh, they are just lovely, Susan! What sweet little messages!
Hugs,
Kelli
Beautiful cross stitch Susan. It's lovely to have these to keep and pass on to children.
Sandy what a lovely show & tell.
Precious mements are just that "precious moments" that we remember, like child holding your hand, or a father watching over his child.......yes a lovely post as always you touch our hearts with your posts.
Lee-ann
I love your cross stich!! You did an excellent job. I well know the time one of those takes! I am (well, was) a cross sticher, too. I also have done a Precious Moments one that I love.
I used to do so much more cross stitch and have gotten into other hobbies seeing your finished pictures makes me want to start again. Very good work thanks for sharing.
I have nominated you for an award over at my blog. Your posts are great reading.
