SHOW & TELL #19 - Thomas Moran Print

It's Friday again which means Show & Tell hosted by Kelli at There Is No Place Like Home. If you haven't participated before go here and read all about it. Then select the items you'd like to share with us today and post about it. Then go back to Kelli's and sign up on Mr. Linky.

What I am showing today is a very old Thomas Moran print.
This print hung on our living room wall as I was growing up and I now have it hanging in our master bedroom.

It is in the original frame. About 9 years ago I did repaint the frame the brown color it now is. The original was an ivory color. On the back of the print, written in pencil is the purchase price of $3.19! This print has to be more than 60 years old.
Thank you for letting me once again show you one of my very old treasurers.

So is your bedroom painted blue? I see what looks like a blue wall peeking from behind the picure!

I enlarged your painting and the rocks looks so realistic. I love the natural, rugged look the painter portrayed. I wonder where he got his inspiration for this one? DO you think it was a place he chanced upon once or perhaps lived near by the fantastic scenery?

What a beautiful print. Have you ever thought to take it in and see if it has increased in value over the years?

that is so cool that you have something so visual from your childhood hanging in your own home.

this has made me think of what was hanging on the walls during my childhood. i don't remember anything from my own home but i do remember some from my grandparent's homes. there were a couple that i remember just staring at as i tried to fall asleep in their bed. i wonder what happened to them.

thanks for sharing.

That's a really pretty print and I think the brown frame enhances it nicely.

I love looking at all your very old treasures, too! How wonderful that you already know this painting from your childhood!

Susan, I finished another project this week: A new look of an antique sewing machine cabinet! We found it on ebay three weeks ago and worked on the new look over the past few days! This afternoon, I put it out on the patio! Are you curious? ;-)))) I will for sure post it on one of the next S&T's!

By the way, I guess I won't participate next Friday because we will be travelling!

Have a wonderul week-end my friend!

Best wishes from Germany,
Anita

Susan,

What a beautiful picture and I like that you painted the frame brown. Makes it look very rich and the colors seem very vibrant.

What a treasure. It is a very nice picture. My folks had an oil painting of Mount Shuksan. It was always on the wall. I miss it.

My parents have an old turn of the century photo hanging in their home from the late 1800's. It's hard to believe it's so old.

The only thing old in my house is DAVE, hehe.

Love the painting, Susan. Thanks for sharing.
