HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR
I am a very reflective person. Especially at the beginning of each New Year I endeavor to reflect on the up coming New Year. To ponder and consider what I hope the New Year will hold and especially to set new goals and resolutions for myself.
So I begin January 1, 2008 quoting Paul, to the Philippians, and setting the following as my goal for this year.
"(For my determined purpose is) that I may know Him (that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly), and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection (which it exerts over believers), and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed (in spirit into His likeness even) to His death, (in the hope). 3:10
"That if possible I may attain to the (spiritual and moral) resurrection (that lifts me) out from among the dead (even while in the body)." 3:11
"Not that I have now attained (this ideal), or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own." 3:12
Phillipians 3:10-12 Amplified - I love the amplified translation as it adds to and stresses the truth of what is being said.
'THAT I MAY KNOW HIM"!!!!
&
"I press on to lay hold of and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus has laid hold of me and made me His own."

I love these verses and learned to pray them over my friends many years ago.

Thanks for being such an inspiration during this last year. There were many times that your words brought life and promise back into my heart.

While I read your thoughts I saw this bit. Surprise to see it again at the end. We are truly one because of HIM!

Ah, to know Him more and more. More of Him, less or me, that is my daily plea :)

I love that, and I know exactly what you mean. I love mostly that although we grow closer to Christ, there is always more room for growth...you never stop. Happy New Year, I hope you and your family have a very, very blessed 2008!!!

Wonderful post. I had quests for 14 days and they left today. I am absolutely exhausted and it was the first New Year ever that I did not have a change to think about the new year. Sigh. Will catch up though.

In all honesty, that is also my ONLY resolution: to know Him and the power of His ressurection. All the rest is just fluff!
