PAINTING PROJECT
We recently replaced sliding glass patio doors with these lovely French Doors with double pane glass and the sliding mini-blinds between the panes. I absolutely am so pleased with my new doors. They are everything I hoped they would be. With the new doors came the need to repaint the wall they were on.
Here you can see the original white wall of the living room, with white in the dining area with the blue bead board.
Mickey hard at work painting with the light tan color we selected. Here I am painting the tan in the dining area. One of the hard parts of this project was having to empty the 2 bakers racks on either side of the hutch, and all the china from the hutch and buffet.
Here is the finished living room wall and the painted white new French doors.
Here is the finished dining area with the light tan on the wall and the darker brown tone on the bead board. We really like the way it looks and turned out.
Then, on the spur of the moment, I decided I wanted to take down the wallpaper from the kitchen area and replace it. Oh my, what a mess!!!!!
The back kitchen wall with the matching boarder that still needs to come down. So we are still a work in progress and have been living with a torn up kitchen all week!!!!! Mickey and I have done a lot of painting projects over the years but this project seems to just go on and on!!!!
Part of the reason being I hadn't planned ahead of time to strip the wall paper and do the kitchen area. That meant I spent about 3 days shopping for wall paper. Came home with 4 different choices, immediately ruled out 2 and was debating between those 2. Went out again and found another I liked better so returned the first 4!!!!!
Hopefully I can show you the finished project by next week!!! Needless to say we've been doing a lot of eating out and not very fancy fixed meals when I have prepared them at home. But we are loving the finished project and it will be worth it.

I am so far behind in my blog reading between our busy Easter Week and this painting project but am trying to get around to everyone. Please be patient with me. I miss reading your blogs and hate getting behind because it's so very hard to play catch-up!!!

Ah - very nice! I am excited to paint again - someday...
Right now, I am trying to rent a bulldozer, so it will be a while until we can paint!
Looking forward to seeing the end result of your kitchen.

I love it! I can't wait to see your kitchen. Those projects do have a way of multiplying, don't they? One thing definitely leads to another!
Howdy Susan!
Happy Spring to ya!
Love this!
Looks like we are on the same wave length! I repainted the major part of our home over spring break! Read about it on my blog.
Your's looks great!
I LOVE TO PAINT!
I'm moving on to the bathroom's next week...needed a week to recover!
Everything is looking really nice. It'll be fun to see the finished project.
The tan is very lovely!! It may be the color I'm looking for in my hallway. Darker than white - but not too dark.
I love the french doors, too.
Wow Susan, I'm trying real hard not to be jealous. Our doors are in big time need of replacing as well and I just love your new look. I have plain color walls in my kitchen with the same kind of board below as you only stained. I've thought about painting it and maybe after the wedding I will now that I see your.
...or maybe you and Mickey could come and do it for us since you know all the ropes, hehe. I promise to make a chicken dinner for you :o)
That is looking so wonderful! Hon, we are still living with an incomplete kitchen! It has been to cold for Jack to finish painting the cabinet doors so meanwhile we get to look at everything in the cabinets! LOL! I love the french doors! You guys are welcome to come here if you haven't done enough painting. We have plenty more to do!
Love the new looks. It's almost the same color as my living room.
You all have been busy busy busy.
Hugs,
Susan
No worries, Susan! Very nice choice in colors, I'm sure everything will be beautiful. I look forward to seeing the finished project! Take care.
We're heading down to Phoenix for my brother's wedding. Will see family from CO. I'm excited!
Have a great weekend!
Brenda :)
Oh that is a lot of work but looks sooooo nice, i'm sure you are enjoying it to the fullest... Can't wait to see the rest..
I need to do some updating too but hate to start...
Oh, your home looks lovely with this spring dressup. Do you do housecalls??!! I am so not a painter but I know if I just started it wouldn't be all that bad.
Things really look lovely.I know just the fresh feel is great. Can't wait ti see the kitchen.
The new colors look warm! Hard work - I can understand that you did not have time to do other stuff. I need to paint my lounge - I think I must ask you to come and help!!
So, you're coming to my house next? *wink*
I have always loved french doors!
Everything looks so lovely! One dream for retirement is to get our place spruced up. It's been years since I painted and papered everything - yes, I did it by myself. But I can't seem myself doing that any more! It just kind of makes me queasy to think about starting and knowing once you start, you can't stop until you've spiffed everything up!
i know what hard work that all is. but you've done a great job because it looks great. i'm looking forward to seeing your kitchen, too.
You have a good reason for being behind! Everything is looking so nice. Have fun finishing the kitchen!
I of all people understand what its like to get busy and not be able to stay caught up with blogs!
I love the french doors and the new colors! I LOVE IT! I can't wait to see the new kitchen!
Susan, I love the colors you chose, the tan walls against the white door and woodwork. We remodeled our home about a year ago, and we used those colors in a couple of rooms. We love it. I think you'll enjoy it for a long time to come.
Beautiful! I love the new colours, Susan. I am really looking forward to seeing the kitchen too. The lampshade over your table is stunning!
I like the new colors very much! Can't wait to see what you've done with the kitchen!
Loving the tan colors!!! Hope you are able to finish up your kitchen soon and be just as pleased!
I love painting things fresh! The living room looks wonderful, and even though the kitchen was a spur of the moment decision I am sure you will love a fresh look and some pretty new wallpaper:>) I cant wait to see the finished results and whatyou chose!
