S&T '08 - #15 - HORSEY GIFTS

Show & Tell Friday over at Kelli's is always a fun thing for me to participate in and I missed doing so last week while we were enjoying our Virginia trip. Be sure and Show & Tell something and put your name on Mr. Linky.

Since the family we were visiting all have horse farms I wanted to bring some little something about horses home as a token gift for my 2 younger grandchildren. Since our nieces wanted to pickup some needed items from The Horsey Store (as they called it) I had the perfect opportunity to buy them a couple of "Horsey" items.

Since Oksana is just learning and enjoying to cook I got her this Horse cookie cutter.

The tag also had a recipe for Sugar cookies and icing.

Since 9 year old Aric loves to read I was delighted to fine an OLD, original copy of Black Beauty.

You can see the September 24, 1966 date and also our inscription to Aric. I always inscribe the books I give to people.

Here is one of the many pictures from the book.

Thanks for looking at my Show & Tell this week.

I think every girl goes through that phase where they love horses! I know I did and I remember crying when I read Black Beauty. Have they read any of the Margarete Henry books? I devoured them when I was a kid and read them to the point where some of the pages have disintegrated! Thanks for sharing with us!

Love the cookie cutter, and hope that someday in the future you'll be able to share some photos of cookies made from them.

And the book? Well, I love old books.

Great horse souvenirs. I took Emelia to a little girl's birthday party a few weeks ago who collected horses. We had fun searching for horse treasures! We found a horse purse and some horse coloring books. Cute stuff.
I'm still looking forward to our outing! I can probably figure out a weekday if Mondays won't work.

The cookie cutter & recipe are a great idea - especially when Oksanna is enjoying to cook!

I was surprised to see the picture of the "Black Beauty" book. We had the same book (same front cover) when I was growing up! It was one of my mom's books from when she was younger. I hope Aric enjoys it!

Both of my sisters loved horses, I was afraid of them, but have always thought they were magnificent to look at.
I'm sure your grandchildren will be delighted with their gifts. I remember seeing the Black Beauty Book at our house when I was a child. I think it belonged to mt sister bonnie Jean.
I hope you have a blessed week end, and knowing you I'm sure you will.

What great gifts you chose for the grands!

Thanks so much for stopping by - it is such fun to show and tell each week, and meet so many fun people.

If you read my DIL's story about her brother, I know you will pray for them. So sad!

I remember reading Black Beauty as a child! I think my grade 4 or 5 teacher also read it aloud to the class and I can still hear her voice "My name was Beauty". What strong pictures words can give us, that we remember them 45 years later! Another of my favourites was Heidi.

I hope those horse gifts delighted your grandchildren. They were obviously picked with care, attention and love.

It was nice to catch up with you again. I have been busy with other things for a bit.
