EDITORIAL - THE POWER OF WORDS

I assume most all of us watched Hillary Clinton give her speach last night at the Democratic Convention in Denver. It was a really good speech and it sure seemed to rally the delegates and others in attendance. I have already declared who I will vote for this year and it is .

This post, however, is not about the election, but about THE POWER OF WORDS.

As I was thinking and praying about this this morning I thought ....why don't we, as Christians, take a good lesson from Hillary Clinton. Why don't we sound the clarion call for unity of The Body of Christ. Why aren't we shouting to The Body of Christ, and subsequently to the world, "Put aside your denominational differences and arguments, band together and fight united FOR God and AGAINST evil."! Quit fighting each other and permitting the enemy to win, at least the temporary battles. We know God wins in the end, because we've read the final chapter!!

There was a good and faithful Christian who closed down her blog recently because she had been duped by another blogger (I'm not familiar with this and don't know who she was making reference to) into believing the blogger was suffering from a terminal illness and then had found out it was a hoax to get money. She was so disallusioned that she threw in the towel and quit. My position is that situations like this should make us all the MORE determined to get our good, honest , true faith and committment in Our Lord and Savior out into blogland. Don't just abandon it to let the evil ones take over and push us out. Use THE POWER OF OUR WORDS for good and for God in blogland, our families, our neighborhood, our community, our nation and our world.

The following is a Percentage source from the CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris - car burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam - Mohammed cartoons). (I have more of these percentage facts that I will share on another post)

It is time for Christians to stand up and boldly use THE POWER OF OUR WORDS to get the truth out FOR our God & Savior Jesus Christ and AGAINST any and all evil in this world: abortion, pornography, child abuse, drugs, human trafficking, genicide, and on and on.

I for ONE am determined to Fight this good fight of faith and to run this race that has been set before me.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

I did not watch it last night as we were out late (past dark) working on a fence.

You make some very good points.

You asked about Jeremy....he is only going to college about 50 miles away...close enough to come home when he wants...whew!

I am with you, Susan. This is a wonderful thought provoking post. I borrowed your two political pictures to put on my blog. I know you won't mind.

i, too, thought it was a great speech. i know why we have two (and more) political parties and the need for them, but i was thinking how great it would be to unite the two parties for the common good of the country and citizens. oh well...

but i guess it's a little of the same reaoning when it comes to christianity. how great would it be to have all the churches in a community (or beyond) to unite for the glory of God. how much more of God's love and compassion would be seen if we used our energy to focus on the lost and broken.

great food for thought, susan. thanks.

I didn't watch the speech...
But what a thought-provoking post! Wonderful thoughts here...words are so important and coming together in unity for what is really important is so vital!

I agree absolutely. And the least we can do is witness daily. The words are more powerful than the sword. I guess the biggest problem I see today is that the ears of many are closed...or too full of all the words out there...and therefore they don't respond at all. How hard it must be to be a teenager or child today being barraged by the constant beat of all those words and ideas.

Have you gotten work on Mickey's tests?

Loved reading about the honey.

Oh, and thanks for the NObama sticker. I attatched it to my blog as well.

I have a differing opinion about her speech but whatever hehe :)

Great post. I am certainly wanting to soak my heart in the Word to protect myself & my home no matter what happens this November. We can't give up standing for what we believe and living how Jesus is calling us to.

I am writing on randisbooks.blogspot.com again - would love for you to visit - but I know you have a ton of blogs you keep up with and I will not be in the least offended if you don't. I continue to follow all your posts on bloglines. so even if I don't comment - I'm here! :)

I wish people were as fired up about Jesus as they are about some politician that came out of nowhere and doesn't stand strongly for anything.

have an awesome day! :)

p.s. I want you to pay special attention to how they are setting up the stage for Obama's talk tomorrow. I won't give you the information I have heard about what they are doing... I want you to see for yourself and see if it's noticeable.

I am right there with you, Susan! I love what you said about striving for unity among the people ofGod. Such a needed message. I didn't hear Hillary's speech, but I know it was fantastic. She is always a powerful speaker.
Well, at least we can pray for unity in our country and in Christ. And we need to hear this message about the power of words. I am ashamed to say that we don't speak out nearly enough. And blogging is one way to do that. This post is great.

Hi Susan,
Christians do need to stand for what is right and not live in an area of "gray"! Right is right and wrong is wrong! We do not need to "Re Create" Right to make it "fit" what we "think" we want! Too many levels of this goes on for too many people.

As usual Susan, you motivated and inspired here.

I watched Hillary's speech. I knew it would be graceful and not live up to the drama the media was trying to throw at us. Hillary did accomplish what she needed to do. I do think she was sort of mediocre about totally throwing support to Obama last night. However, her hubby made sure to do that tonight.

Great post here. I wasn't aware of the incident you referred to. So sad, but you are setting a great example in being more determined than ever to stand for good. Kick that old devil in the teeth, so to speak.

Great post, Susan. I have not watched any of the convention, but you have stated it very well.

Loved the story on the honey crop. It was so interesting to read. Sorry about the bee stings.

Those are some powerful words, dear Susan. And I was veryh sad when our friend closed her blog because of that fake blogger - I didn't get that either! But what a sad thing.

I didn't watch Hillary - cannot stand the sight of sound of her. I get nauseated at the thought of watching any of them pontificate. But you do make a very good point!

Unity.. hmmm.. I wonder if it is really possible.. so many are so far to the left or right.. and I am speaking about us.. maybe we need a humility denomination/party :)

Susan, you are so right, now more than ever, we DO have to stand up and speak for what's right. There are so many voices out there promoting things that are just evil and digusting, and kids today will grow up thinking they are commonplace. I put a pro life sticker on the back of my Suburban and it's so cute, it makes me smile whenever I open the back of my car. I always hope God will put someone behind us in traffic, who will see my car load of laughing kids and maybe change their mind about having an abortion or voting pro-abortion. I need to work up the courage to get a sign and stand outside this abortion clinic in town... I pass it every time we go to the VA hospital and I always think I should join these peaceful protestors out there. My son made me a "stop abortion" banner (so sweet, he made the t's into crucifixes) but I haven't done it yet.

With you in this battle! May the words of our mouth and the thoughts of our heart be acceptable to the Lord!

May we do our part to uphold God's righteousness and the truth of the Word!

Great post :)

Your blog has always been an inspiration to me and I admire you and the stance you take - and how you post about it!

You also bring up a great point about not letting the enemy win (by closing a blog). If anything, we need to get more of His message out there for people!
