MY WEIGHT LOSS WEEKLY UPDATE

I began this weight loss journey on August 4th
Thanks to Sarah I now have a ticker where the lady bug moved.
My little lady bug (which has turned into a butterfly??) moved 2 lbs the wrong direction!!!

Holding myself accountable and posting every week on Monday...
good, bad or indifferent.
Monday 8/11/08 - Weight Loss 4 lbs - Exercise 6 days walking 15-20 minutes
Monday 8/18/08 - Weight Loss 0 lbs. - Exercise 5 days walking 15- 20 minutes
Monday 8/25/08-Weight Loss 2 lbs-Exercise 4 days walking 15-30 minutes
Monday 9/1/08-Weight Loss 1 lbs-Exercise 3 days walking +added weight exercises
Monday 9/8/08-Weight Loss 1 lb-Exercise 6 days walking most 30 minutes
Monday 9/15/08-Weight Gain 1 lb-Exercise 2 days walking 30 & 39 minutes.
Monday 9/22/08-Weight Loss 2 lbs - Some walking.
Monday 9/29/08-Weight Loss 0 lbs - No walking.
Monday 10/20/08-Weight Loss 2 lbs - Much driving!!
Monday 11/10-weight Gain 2 lbs-Much stress!!
Weight Loss after 12 weeks - 9 lbs and 11 to go!!
Waist measurement down 1 inch.
We do not plan to walk on Sunday, the Sabbath and a day of rest.
The walking is so much easier since Mickey has joined me. He certainly does not have any weight to lose but the exercise is good for him, too.
This process is SLOW, but as long as I can lose 1# a week, or at least not gain anything I consider it successful. After all 1# a week is 52# in a year!!!!
Well, I am reporting about 3 very challenging weeks here. As you know, we have been through one of the most stressful times of our lives and I AM A STRESS EATER! Anyway, I am determined to get back with the program beginning today. Back to actually planning our meals and I am going to begin by making some whole wheat bread today.
I am not VERY happy about the backward movement but it is what it is.
I said Good, Bad or Indifferent
This one counts as BAD - But it is not going to way-lay me from pressing on.
Have a blessed week!!!
I measure my waist the 1st of each month, and since I won't be by a computer on October 1st or on schedule November 1st but I measured today. My waist it the same.....a total of 1 inch in the waist. I am very happy about that!!!

Good for you for being so vulnerable for the rest of us - you are setting a great example!

BTW - thanks for your previous post, too - good to see that your family is surrounding Mark.

Did I ever say that I love Mickey's haircut??? I think he should keep it :)

Blessings!

Good for you - I should do it every week, too, good bad or indifferent! Isn't it fun to set up the ticker?

You are my hero Susan!!

I'm wishing you much success on this. I lost 8lbs before the wedding and then ate myself silly during the stressful times. I didn't gain, but had hoped to take much more off.

I guess it's time to start a counter for myself again.

As an absolute ignorant what body thing concern, I think to walk is a most wonderful exercise.
May you be able to continue with the plan and few and far in between interruptions for it.

You are brave. Some day I need to be brave too. :)

Great job on the 4 lb. loss!!!!!

I know the next 16 will come off quick, too. I think I will jump on the bandwagon and set up a ticker, too. It looks like it would be a great motivator!! =)

MightyMom said...

Susan, I did that. just delete the ticker and start from scratch. The bookmark or favorite the site to update and use a password you'll remember so you can update it from now on.

If you start it at 0, then go right back and put what you've lost it'll update.

keep on losing@

Hang in there. I'm trying to lose weight too, but the Summer schedule of craziness and all the FREE FOOD that people keep shoving in front of me have made it very difficult. Just stick to your guns and walk whenever you can, even if you have to split it up into 3 ten minute walks instead of one longer one.

I did not lose any weight the past few weeks, but I also did not gain any - Halleluiah! And today I did aerobic shopping with GrammaJ. I think pushing around 70 pounds of kitty litter in Cart A and 50+ pounds of bottled water and sundry items in Cart B constitutes exercise!

Hi Susan. I tried to do the meme but couldn't get all the names I picked to highlight. I thought I did it right buy it just wouldn't work. Sorry.
I hope your sinus infection is one of the quick ones and will be gone real soon.
I am working at getting some weight off too and need to get my dogs and me out for a walk today. It isn't too hot and it isn't raining. No excuse!

Sue Seibert said...

1. How is Mickey?
2. The meme is up on my blog.

Dawn said...

I'm sorry you can't get that little bug to move! It doesn't work when you click on the ticker and change it from the web site?

Tina said...

sorry you are not feeling well Susan! Saying a prayer for you.

Great job on the exercising... I would be doing that if I didn't feel like the baby would fall out. LOL

Lori said...

Good job at the weight that you have lost.

I say you have had a rather busy, rough week. YOu deserve to take a break on the walking.
I do hope that you are feeling better soon...as well as Mickey too.

We have been walking a couple miles everyday. The kids have a paper route right by our home. The street right beside. So it works out real well. We get the daily exercise that we need plus the kids are making some money (mostly put in their savings account). They are excited about that.

You keep up the good work - even if you don't see the scale moving as fast as you like, you should still be proud of the healthy choices you are making!!

Make sure you are drinking lots and lots of water! That should keep your body from infections too!

I hope you are feeling better now!

I do have the book and because it is soo great I am happy to "donate" it to someone who has not read it...as everyone must! So not sure how you want to do that?? If not I will give you our Stateside office address and put it in someone's hands that needs it! Let me know what is easiest for you! Thanks!!!

Sorry to read you were sick. Did you catch Mickey's virus?

concerned parent said...

You too are on a journey like mine to get healthy so Good For You and Mickey too it is not always easy to find time to get moving/walking but I am sure you both burned many calories cleaning house.

Barbara said...

Congrats. You are doing well.I walk miles every week and don't lose anything. That is because I have always walked miles and my body is used to it and I am probably at my optimum weight for my age.

MightyMom said...

I'm gonna fix that ticker for you. it's driving me nuts to see it sitting at 0 when you've made such fabulous progress!!

Every little bit counts, if there is a bit of slide down the hill so much easier to be able to continue. Not looking at a huge mountain to climb.

What a privilege for the grand kids to have grandparents like yourselves.
I will continue to 'think' of you.

Congratulations on your 2lbs loss! That's exciting! And even after eating such nummy looking homemade bread.

Good job on the walking too. I hope that as the weather gets more rainy you are able to still walk or at least find another source of exercise.

It's exciting to see the waist shrinking, isn't it! Since Jeremy started his diet, I'VE lost about 10 lbs and at least 2 sizes! Slow & steady weightloss is the way to go - keep it up!

I fell off the wagon, but I'll be back as soon as my chirpractor finishes "fixing" my wayward hip.

Great job, Susan!
I've always heard it's better to lose weight more gradually like you're doing and then it's more likely to stay off! You're doing great!

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!
I need some of your determination I think. I try to get out and walk the pups when I can and watch what I am eating but my weight has remained the same for several years.
I'm so proud of you.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.

I can understand you turning to those comfort foods during Mickey's hospitalization! I love snack food, and sweets! Can't seem to conquer those cravings! I lost seven pounds before my 50th class reunion, but have gained it back :-(

You'll lose your weight, you just had a set-back with Mickey's surgery. Don't be hard on yourself!

Hey Susan,

I love it that you do this. I so need to join you.

I checked my "followers" on my blog and you are there. It must only show 18 on the page then when you click "view all" you are in the list. So I think all is well.

Hugs,

Susan

I am finally just getting caught up with your vacation stories....what a journey. I am so glad that God was with you on your journey and everything worked out ok. I so enjoyed all the photos and seeing all the places that you visited both now and 50 years ago.

Great job, Susan. I started eating healthier and lost 5 pounds right off the bat, now I'm stuck and might have to work harder to loose more.

By the way, stop by my blog, I gave you an award!

I think you are doing great considering the month you have had!

First of all, I had some help so I am back to blogging. Second, I think I can help you with your weight loss. Check out Linda Spangle's website www.weightlossjoy.com. She has an excellent book for motivation as well as Food is Easy/Life is Hard. Sorry, sometimes I get those two mixed up when I don't have the book in front of me. It is motivating! I've lost weight applying some of those principles in my life. I am going through the 100 Days a second time around because there's so much to learn, practice and do.

Hey we all stumble and I can get the stress eating me too as far as that goes I have not moved either way so not good either. Great attitude

groovyoldlady said...

Good for you...get back on track and remember that it could always be worse. I lost nine and gained nine!

Barbara said...

You could well have hit a plateau Susan, the frustrating part of this journey.

the voice of melody said...

Don't worry about one pound going in the wrong direction. You're doing very well actually - slow and steady wins the race you know! :)

Many sweet blessings!

Accidently ran across your blog last night and was so blessed by having visited it! But then there really are no "accidents" where the Lord is concerned.

Blessings, peace and all that is good, Memaw
