KEEP THINGS SIMPLE

As I've been reading blogs lately there has been the re-occurring theme of being too rushed, being too busy, too much stuff, too many things to get done, too many........ (you fill in the blank) Then I read one here on December 3rd (thank you Kim!) talking about keeping things simple.

I have two quotes on my header ---- one reads "A lie is anything contrary to the naked truth." and "If you keep things simple they'll stay pure." I put those two quotes on my blog because they are two truths that I endeavor to live by.

I truly believe we miss so much of REAL life because we so clutter our lives with too many activities and too little time to just be, and especially to "Be still and know that I am God" Psalms 46:10a

This is especially true of the Christmas season. The celebration of our Saviors birth is THE most precious thing. If HE had not come, and if HE had not paid the price for our sins..........man, I don't even want to thank about the what if......PRAISE GOD HE DID and I want to celebrate that, and meditate on that. God coming to this earth as a baby, in the form of sinful flesh and then living a life where HE never sinned. Getting that from our heads to our hearts is a lifetime endeavor. At least it has been in my long life.

Just take some time, let something go......you know in the end it won't matter anyway. But what we do with the reality of Christmas (celebrating the Christ) is the most important (really the ONLY important) thing we will ever do in our lives.

If you do not know my Savior, I pray that you might meet HIM. If you truly meet HIM, you will never be the same. If you know HIM, set some "things", some "have to" aside and CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF CHRIST.

IF WE KEEP THINGS SIMPLE....WE'LL KEEP THINGS PURE.

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God". Matthew 5:8

I think I've worked harder on this idea this year more than ever. Hopefully that means I'm getting a bit wiser as I get older :)

I'm tagging you in a meme that I'm about to post. Hope you can play along.

I totally agree with you about the keep things simple.
Less stress. Less rushing around.
More family time. More time to celebrate Jesus birth and the real reason for the season.

Getting back to keeping it simple gives us the time and understanding of sitting at Jesus' feet. I know I tend to replace 'business' (the normal, daily things that need to be done) with 'busy-ness' (doing things but not accomplishing what's important.)
I probably didn't explain that well, but it did make sense in my head!
Merry Christmas!
Brenda :)

Well written. I was talking to a friend and we both agreed that this year we aren't feeling as rushed. It's nice to calm down and enjoy Christ's birth rather than the shopping thing. I am making more gifts each year.

How is Mickey?????????????

Our lives are definitely too busy at times and we don't have near the still time that we should have. I do take the time though, even if only for a few minutes each day, to remember and thank God for the what we have and Praise Him.

The pace here in American is too hectic for me, Christmas or not. Thanks for the reminder.

This year has been busy for us, and the crowd is about to arrive for the week of reunion - of us will be together for the whole week to celebrate Mom's 90th and Christ's coming to us as a baby. Not to mention my side of the family. We are blessed to have so many together, but it will no doubt be a bit chaotic and wild.

simpler is ALWAYS better!!

my reason for having ALL Christmas gift buying and making DONE by Thanksgiving.

Spend Advent preparing and celebrating the birth of Christ...not running from store to store buying stuff!
