TESTING OUR FAITH

I, like I'm sure the rest of you, have been sitting in amazement as we watch what is happening in our country. I want to scream at the top of my lungs......

WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?

As you know I did not support Obama during the campaign and election. The very things we are seeing come to pass is exactly why I did not support him. Sadly, he is implementing his agenda at a MUCH swifter pace than I think any of us expected or believed he could.

After Obama giving the tax prayer's money to pay for MORE abortions and his soon to be enacted clearing the way for partial birth abortions I cannot keep quiet any longer.

Add to that Biden's announcement which he just made, this is coming true faster than any of us have even feared.

What they are doing is going to be the death blow to our GREAT country, as we have known it. If the Lord does not return soon they are mortgaging our children and grandchildren's future to a load of debt and servitude they will be unable to bare.

As a Christian, I believe we are fast racing toward the return of our Lord and Savior.

"If God doesn't soon bring judgment upon America, He'll have to go back and apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!"

This statement frequently attributed to Billy Graham, actually originated with his wife, Ruth, during a review of her husband's manuscript for his book, World Aflame, published in 1965. He had just finished a chapter vividly describing the sinful conditions in America, and gave it to Ruth to read. She was very much sobered by the writing and returned the document to the study where he was writing and laid it on his desk, saying, "Billy, if God doesn't come soon and bring judgment upon the United States, He's going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!" The account was recalled briefly as an illustration in a message by Dr. James Kennedy (pastor, Coral Ridge Presbyterian, Fort Lauderdale, Florida), entitled "Prayer and the World Crisis", at the National Prayer Congress, Dallas, Texas in 1976.

That book was published in 1965!!! Think how much worse everything has gotten in the past 44 years!!!! Some of you were not even born then.

I believe this is a testing time for every living soul, not only in American, but world wide. I believe as Christians we are going to have our faith tested as most of us never have before.

One scripture that has given me pause for years is Luke 18:8b

"Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"

My constant prayer is that my faith will pass the tests whatever they are.

Sobering thoughts today Susan. I agree with you. I can't believe some of the things that are going on, that people don't even seem to think twice about.

Susan, what announcement did Joe Biden make? I don't watch the news, so I missed it.

As for the Sodom and Gomorrah thing, remember though that God could not find even 10 righteous people there. The same is not true for America. But many, many in the church have fallen asleep, (including me) and God is using this to wake us up and hopefully bring many to Himself. The children and I have been devouring God's Word every day, as much as we can. His Word is the only thing that can sustain us and keep us from fear.

Susan, my head is just spinning right now too and my heart hurts for the future of our country. We see it going so wrong, but we feel helpless to do anything about it. It is very sobering.

I'm doing Kay Arthur's Precepts study in Isaiah and I tell you it is amazing. We know the future, but this life on earth is going to be a struggle for so many. I just pray it will turn American's hearts towards God.

you saw it in our youth didn't you? The train is a coming, its time to get on:)

How comforting to know we were chosen for this time, that Heavenly Father has faith in us:) And we know who the winning team leader is:)

Thank you for this little reminder to put my 'important' affairs in order.

God bless us!

Sad to see what is going on. Our need to pray is so important. My husband posted an interesting video you might like at:

Amen Penless. It goes without saying that I'm in agreement with your views here. You've read my blog long enough to know that. The speed at which all is happening is alarming. Each day, I try to steer away from political posts, but once in awhile we must express ourselves, even in the realm of politics. Which nowadays I find hard to keep separate from my views as a Christian. We are turning further and further from God and His view of sin. Having a 22 yr. old son and an 11 yr. old son cause me much concern about what conditions they will be required to live under in the future, and then their babies--oh my, I really can't let my mind go there! Christians better be praying and walking in the Spirit, ever ready to speak up for truth and justice. I get weary with Christians who don't care to read or research some of these important issues and how their reps. and senators are voting!! We ALL need to be calling the capitol OFTEN!!

I'm so thankful for His faithfulness to help us with our lack of faith. His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

Firstly our responsibility is to work out our own salvation. Who is GOD if we have to be concerned for what man does.

You speak the truth here and so many are just blinded as the Bible tells us they will be in the last days. "Even so come Lord Jesus"
We need to be bold and speak the truth as you have. I'm with you

I feel the same way. What is happening in Washington is alarming. I have e-mailed my senators to voice our opinion. We have e-mailed the white house and even phoned them.
For evil to flourish --is for us to remain silent.

What I can't believe is that he said he was going to do it and yet Christians voted for him in droves - shameful! I am sick to my stomach every time I hear another promise that he has kept.

These are indeed scary times. I have used that phrase about Sodom and Gomorrah many times and didn't know the origin. But it is so true! Even so, Lord Jesus, Come!

I agree whole heartedly. Can the end be far away at all? I doubt it very much.

Yesterday I called both my Senators offices regarding the "bail out". I don't know if it will help...but at least the person on the other end of the phone listened.

Even the small things we do...we never know how God will use it.

...and (I'll add) it's always important to be polite and respectful when calling or writing.

Thanks for the good reminder to keep our eyes fixed on Him.

I get so anxious and uptight some days...and frustrated at people's disbelief that is woudl happen...what did they think was going to happen agendas were clear during the election. Yesterday I received an email from David Shibley of Global Advance (great man of God) that I'd like to share with you as it really helped me "get right" and get focused more on what to do. I'm sure I have your email so will shoot it to you. Thanks for your honesty...we need that now!

>What they are doing is going to be the death blow to our GREAT country

But I beg to disagree, Penless. There is a majority (after all, he was elected!) who believes he is the one person that can restore international respect to your great country, after the shambles of President Bush.

Are you not at least pleased that President Barack Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act into law?

My heart cries out as well. There is a reason God gives us guidelines for living our life and following his plan.

Oh, I fear for those who live according to their flesh and turn their backs on God way.

The latest here is that the Social services have taken 2 young children, a boy and a girl, away fron their grandparents who looked after them (Mother a Heroin addict) and put them into the care of 2 homosexual men because the grandparents have Diabetes and are in their 50's.

We are so blessed to know tht God is still on the throne.

Yes I know that empty spaces get filled u p. Not so many empty now as I have spread things out a bit so they are easier to access.

I don't disagree that what's happening these days is of concern. I also know that circumstances similar to these have happened in the past. What remains the constant is the God is in control. I just hope He hasn't given us over to a reprobate mind. I will, however, continue, to put my trust in the Lord and trust that He can make the crooked paths straight. My prayer is that we, as Christians, will do our part. Our part is to humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways.

Excellent post, Susan. I too am very concerned with the way Obama is starting out his presidency. It amazes me how many people think anything he does is going to be wonderful. I don't think so.

Susan,

Your words are all so true. I agree. Everything seems to be happening faster than I even thought it would. I look around and wonder why everyone can't see it. It's hard for me to understand that. It depends on the worldview you have, I suppose. I'm praying everyday. But it's going to take us getting bolder, just like you did!

I enjoyed what I've read on your blog!

Blessings,
Tammy

Susan, I had heard this quote before, but did not realize it was from Ruth Bell Graham. She is one of my favorites. I have most of her books especially her poetry.
I have long stood up for the innocent unborn precious babies.
I am praying for Christians to wake up, stand up and praying for the lost.
