ABUNDANCE

On May 13th I posted about Mickey's strawberry patch and the small handful of ripe berries we had picked here.

Well, 10 days later, here is what we harvested Saturday.

Here is my ever faithful ice cream bucket that I use for everything with the freshly picked strawberries.

The large bowl of washed and pitted berries.

Best of all.... my bowl of fresh sliced berries with sugar and cream that was my Sunday breakfast. Yum!!!!

As if that wasn't enough......here is fresh picked spinach, green onions, and radishes from Mickey's labors. I took this picture just before making a wonderful salad along with my home made Vinaigrette dressing. A lovely addition to our Sunday lunch of meatloaf, baked potato, cream corn and toasted garlic bread.

Abundance indeed!!!! Webster's "great plenty" and "more than enough".

Not too much longer until I can buy berries at the ami.sh stand up the road!! I cannot wait - your picture makes my mouth water!! LOL

I really want to have a raised bed garden, but not this year. I do have basil and red peppers growing in a flower bed...we'll see what happens! I cannot wait to see how many pepper I get and then make red pepper jelly with them!!

Susan, you made it not only look so good, but you made it sound so good. I wanted to jump right through the screen and re-do Sunday lunch! The beautiful harvest! I wonder how much fun it was to enjoy all those things before weeds, as in the early days of Adam and Eve. Wonder what kind of yummies they got to grow? :)Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Nothing beats homegrown. My favorite are homegrown tomatoes.

MMMM...the strawberries and fresh veggies look amazing! It's so fun to eat the things grown with our own hands. I don't have my strawberry patch anymore...way to much work for me to keep up with, just didn't have the time. Looks like Mickey is doing a great job with yours!

WOW! I just planted my garden - wasn't able to plant all those yummy things, as I wasn't here early enough. LOVE the strawberries. Takes me back to childhood when we had an entire patch of just strawberries in Minnesota. we picked and picked and picked and my mom froze and froze and froze. YUM YUM!
