MICKEY UPDATE

We made the 130 mile trip back to Oklahoma City VA on October 31st for Mickey's

follow-up on his double bi-pass heart surgery. We left the house around 6 a.m. and were there by 8:30. First to the lab for blood work, then to EKG , and then for an x-ray of the heart. We also had an appointment with the Heart Rehab person who we were suppose to see before he was ever released from the hospital but since he was discharged on Columbus Day which was a holiday we didn't get it. We were happy to learn that the care and things we had been doing the past 3 weeks were correct :o) !!!After these tests were done he had a 10:30 appointment with the Heart surgeon.

Here he is with the adorable PCA, Bethany, who was the first person to talk to us on our first visit, back on September 12th, about having the surgery and was the person today who read all the reports and examined him.

Everything was perfect!!! The picture of his heart is perfect, his EKG read just as they wanted it to, his lungs are clear & healthy, and his blood work was all good, except the kidney was a little high but nothing that concerned them.
This isn't a very good picture, due to the sun glare, but this shows him leaving with his newly repaired heart and a clean bill of health. HALLELUJAH

Yesterday he had an appointment with his Primary Care Physician here in Tulsa. Another GOOD report. All is well. The only thing now is for the healing to continue and for him to build back his strength.

This is Mickey as we began his first outside walk. We were to start walking at 5 minutes a day and gradually add to it each day until he is walking at least 30 minutes. Yesterday we walked 14 minutes. We are adding a minute or 2 a day. The weather here has been delightful and making it very easy for us. As it gets too cold we will begin going to Wal-M*mart to walk.

Thanks again to all who prayed for us, and especially with us, during this path. We are only 2 days shy of it being one month since his surgery.

JESUS is our healer...and He uses Doctors and He supplied us with the very best!

CLEAN UP - CATCH UP - THIS & THAT

Since the vacation I've had a hard time trying to "catch up" so decided to post a mix-match of things here.

I had posted about our living room, dining area & kitchen re-do and the wall paper jog. We had one last step - which was putting up a border all around the wall paper. Mickey finished that job and here it is. It finished it off nicely we thought.

Many of you prayed for our dear friend, Jack. This picture was taken 4 days!!!!! after his quadruple heart surgery. We would not believe how great he looked. The surgery was on April 7th. They were back to the Dr. last week and he is doing so good he doesn't have to go back for 3 months. Thanks to you all who prayed for Jack. We just praise the Lord for this victory!!!!!

CLEANING & NEW FURNITURE

Saturday, August 25th found Jacque, Mickey & I busy cleaning her newly purchased house and beginning the first feeble steps of turning it into a home.

On our way over we stopped and picked up doughnuts for all who would happen by, and us too of course!!

First things first-Mickey anointed all four entrance doors with oil and the three of us prayed that everyone who enters will be blessed and that God will rule and reign in this place.

Then began the cleaning and I mean it was real time cleaning because it needed it. Jacque tackled the master bath and I took on the main bathroom. Lots and lots of elbow grease in those areas. Mickey was busy cleaning out the outside gutters. As he said, "It bothers me to see tress's growing off the roof"! Now it wasn't quite that bad but weeds were growing out of them.

Then Mickey and I tackled washing some of the windows. The house was built in the 60's and I don't believe they had EVER had the storm windows removed and all four panes washed, We did the living room, front storm door, sliding den door, dining room, & kitchen windows.
In between the cleaning we had to stop as a few pieces of new furniture was delivered. The couch barely squeezed through the front door and took Mickey & Jacque's help to do so. Didn't help that it was super heavy.

During this time Marc, Oksana & Aric came by to see the house for the first time.

This is the new entertainment center. It is unfinished but will be stained to match the wood on the sofa & love seat.

This was a VERY welcome sight!! Suzette brought over boxed lunches for the 4 of us from Jason's Deli. Yummy!! Ham or Turkey sandwich, potato chips, dill pickle, mayonnaise, mustard, chocolate chip cookie and mint.

This hard working, very hungry crew greatly appreciate these as the four of us sat down in the middle of the den floor to eat.

After our very brief lunch rest Jacque & I began lining the kitchen cupboards with shelf paper.

We worked for 6 1/2 hours and were all worn out and decided to call it a day.

Mickey & I had been invited out to a 6 o'clock dinner for 12 at some dear friends.

We rushed home, I checked my e-mails (a must do!!), jumped into the tub, got dressed and rushed out the door for dinner.

I must admit we were so tired and worn out we certainly were not the life of the party but as always had a great meal and wonderful fellowship.

OUR HEARTS ARE FULL OF HIS BLESSINGS FOR THIS FAMILY.

JULY 24, 2007 - A VERY SPECIAL DAY

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 was a very special day in our family. This is the day that our daughter, Jacque closed on her house in Tulsa. Jacque is our daughter that lost everything she owned in Katrina Hurricane in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on August 28, 2005.

Here Jacque & I are in the kitchen where we'll probably be preparing this years holiday meals and occasions.

The house is full brick with a 2 car garage and extra wide driveway extending to the side for extra parking. The house itself consists of 4 bedroom, 2 full baths, formal entry, formal living, den, kitchen with dining area, large laundry room with built-in desk/work top. The bedrooms all have built-in bookshelves. The carpet is almost new and a very nice brown color. The flooring in the entry, kitchen, baths, and laundry room is ceramic tile. Included in the price was a refrigerator and washer & dryer.


The house needs some updating and cleaning but believe me Jacque will have it fixed up like a doll house in short order.


We are so proud of Jacque and the progress she has made since moving here with us on September 15, 2005. Talk about starting over from scratch and doing great!!!

Now the next step for Jacque, and the rest of our family, is to convince her only daughter and our oldest granddaughter, 21 year old Jessica, to move to Oklahoma from Mississippi to join us.

P.S. Mickey will be very glad to get his storage barn and part of his garage back!!! Jacque and I have been busy loading them up with items of furniture and things to give her a head start when this glorious day arrived.
