Early Years

I was going through some old photographs and decided to post this one of me and my 12 year old sister, Marion, taken in 1938.
Marion was so beautiful. She had dark brown hair and blue-blue eyes. I was blond with hazel eyes. My mother was 19 when Marion was born and 31 when I was born. My father was 52 when I was born. (I invite you to read my tribute to my father which I posted earlier.)
Marion died in 1985 of cancer. She was 60 years old and far to young. She preceded my mother to Heaven by 5 months. My mother grieved horribly over her death. I missed them both so much.

That is such a beautiful photo of the two of you. I love how she seems to be protecting you. I would love to read stories about how close you two were.

What a beautiful picture. There is nothing that compares to photography from that era. I have many photos of my mom and grandparents in my home and they are the best pictures I have!

How nice it must be to think of the two of them together in Heaven though.

Hi, thanks for commenting on my blog. It's nice to "meet" you.

I love the picture of you and your sister. It's really sweet. I just received some pictures in the mail today from my Aunt and they were of my dad when he was quite young and quite good-looking. :)

Hope to hear from you more.

Just a beautiful picture of you and your sister. It speaks volumes. I almost lost my sister about a year ago and I am so thankful I still have her. I have 6 sisters but none can take the place of any. Connie from Texas

What a gorgeous photo. It is such great quality. I am so sorry that you lost your sister at such a young age, and your mother so shortly after that. It is so nice to have photos to remember those we love so dearly.

Dear Susan,
I just read the tribute of your father. How wonderful that your mom and dad met. I am a transplant to southern New Mexico(14 months) and I love it!
My dad died 2 months before I was born and I too have a tribute on my website. There's actually 3, No More 12-23-06; The Left and the Fallen Soldiers 2-13-07; and The Iraqi Quagmire 1-10-07.
I hope you stop by and visit my blog(penofjen.blogspot.com). from penofjen to penless writer good day!
