IN GOD WE TRUST

You may have heard in the news that....the Post office...has been forced to take down small posters that say "IN GOD WE TRUST".

The law, they say, is being violated.

I heard it has been proposed on a radio station show, that we should all write

"IN GOD WE TRUST" on the back of all our mail...after all, that is our national motto, and it's on all the money we use to buy those stamps with.

I think it is a wonderful idea!

We must take back our nation from all the people who think that anything that offends them should be removed.

Write it on the back of your envelopes!

"IN GOD WE TRUST"

I think this is a great idea.

In fact, I will start writing this on the front of all my envelopes, too!
If you like this idea, please join in.

It has been reported that 86% of Americans believe in God.

Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having "IN GOD WE TRUST" on our money

and having GOD in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Could it be that WE just need to take action and not let the 14% tell us what to do?

I would love to hear your comments on this and whether you will join in this campaign. It doesn't take but an extra minute to write IN GOD WE TRUST on that envelope every time you affix that U.S. Postage stamp.

I am in. Although I rarely use the post office anymore I will write this when I do.

Makes me sick in a country that was founded on majority now caving to the minority.

Of course it is sad and expected. How else would America not be recognized in the Book of Revelation? We must slowly wane in prominence in order not to be seen.

I believe that the waning will occur totally from the inside like you have shown.

Sad but my thoughts.

This is a hard thing to watch happen and unfortunately soemtimes I feel powerless but THIS IS something I CAN do that and PRAY. Thank you Susan for this post.

Seems like it should be written right around the stamp. That might make a point!

Hope you are feeling better today!

i, too, will write this on my mail. unfortunately, i don't mail much anymore. i think it would be cool for the post office workers to see "in God we trust" on the majority of the mail going through their facility.

you know, you can make your own stamps. maybe that's what we should do. have stamps with the simple message, "in God we trust."

I think the minority tries to bully the majority and the majority won't stand up for itself. Rather than just opt out (in this case...not use the post office is they are so offended) they think their wishes need to be implemented.

What a great idea to write this on our envelopes. I hadn't heard they were removing signs. So sad...

I'm with you!!! I think it's terrible how people are trying to take GOD out of everything. This nation was founded under GOD!!! We are living is scary times.

Christmas is almost depressing...they want to glorify Santa Claus rather than Jesus and Santa Clause came about BCZ of JESUS!!! On top of that people who work at the stores are forbidden to say Merry CHRISTmas.

Thank you for your birthday wishes, my Birthday was WONDERFUL!!!!!

God Bless,
Amber

This reminds me of when they removed The Lord's Prayer from the schools! I think it's ridiculous that they've made the post office remove those posters...GREAT idea for everyone to write IN GOD WE TRUST on the envelopes!!! I'm wondering when something similar will happen here in Canada's post offices. xox

Here's an idea. Get a rubber stamp made and imprint In God We Trust on every envelope, front and back. Saves a few seconds since we're so used to being penless writers, right my friend? (smile)

YES Susan, I already write it or put stickers with the motto on all my letters, cards, and BILLS! I actually had read this some time ago and jumped right on the band wagon. I think its great you are making so many aware! Let's do it!

I had not heard that about taking down the signs. thank you for sharing. I like the rubber stamp idea--just go ahead and stamp up a bunch of envelopes and ahv ethem ready! However, we don't mail a lot of htings these days--everything is email or online, etc. How do people manage without a computer?

Now, how can you say the law is not being violated? I thought we were to keep a separation of church and state.
Wasn't this nation founded on ideals on religious freedom? Were they not fleeing from religious intolerance? Isn't that why the Pilgrims came here in the first place?
"We must take back our nation from all the people who think that anything that offends them should be removed"
The people you say? So minority isn't as important at the majority? We don't have as much rights as all of you do? Can't we keep everything secular, and keep religion home? We can't all be happy here?
"Could it be that WE just need to take action and not let the 14% tell us what to do?"
How would you feel if you were said 14% and the rest of the nation was Muslim or Atheist? I'd hope you would stick to your ideals.
Now, I don't see why this offends you so much. I mean, you have your free speech, and we have ours. You have your religion, and we have ours. Now, don't you think that, if there is more than one religion, that maybe we should just keep it out of things not involving religion? This is the Post Office, not a church. I believe that should be religion neutral, am I correct?
The Post Office is releasing stamps for the holidays, for many religions. Now, what disturbs me is that Christians with the ideal of "taking back the nation" are getting angry that the post office is also releasing a Muslim stamp. Now, how is that not fair?
I'm sorry to say, but this is not a Christian nation. This nation was founded on religious freedom, not forcing the minority to do what the majority says. This is a nation of freedom, a melting pot. We are not all Christians. I would hope the majority would respect that, and keep religion out of things that don't need it. If you are going to include a religion, then I would hope you include ALL of the other religions, if you feel so deeply on including religion.
Yes, all of them. Every single one that America believes in, down to the last person. They have just as much right as you do.

"According to an 11/17/02 article in the Amarillo Globe-News, this controversy got started when a retired engineer Frank Williamson donated small posters to Post Offices that said "In God We Trust." They were ordered taken down because of a prohibition against displaying most handbills and fliers from individuals. There was a howl of protest. As a result, the Postal Service announced that a poster of its own design would be posted in all 38,000 Post Offices across the country. That was helped by the discovery that a resolution in the House of Representatives in 2000 had been passed encouraging posting the motto in public buildings." (per Truthorfiction.com)

If Christians were really trusting in God, would we be worried about posters? What are our priorities?

If Jesus had a choice, do you think would he stop an unjust war(s), stop usury, feed the hungry or hang a poster with the motto, "In God We Trust."?
