SHOW & TELL '08 #7 - Book Shelf
This Friday caught me off guard for Show & Tell due to the many posts I have been doing answering ALL the questions I was asked on my Blogoversary Celebration. But Friday at my house has to be Show & Tell so hop over to Kelli's and join in the fun.
Recently I shared with you about looking for a white bookcase for our Grandson's 9th birthday. We looked all over town, to no avail, and were so thrilled when we finally found one at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. Well, later we stumbled on a new one!!!! My husband said, "You've been wanting another bookcase so why don't we buy this for Aric and you just keep the other one". Well, that didn't take any arm twisting on my part.
Here is the bookcase and my books which we placed in the office (where I live on my computer!!) I am so happy to have it. I was able to move all our travel scrapbooks from the top of my computer to the two bottom shelves and still had room to place the huge dictonary and family bible. The two upper shelves contain 92 of my Christian books. I have another 36 in various places around the house. It is so nice to be able to not have them double shelved and in alphabetic author order!!!! Also great that I have room for new ones I will be acquiring!!!!

That's wonderful! I have a few book shelves with double layers, too.
great idea, I would guess that it feels wonderful to have them all organized.

Hi Susan-
Just dropping by to say how much I enjoy reading your answers to the blogoversary questions...I like the one about Your Mickey and how he and your mom left you alone to get rid of those old letters...I teared up too.
blessings!
Bobbi
Isn't it a great feeling to get organized like that!
I know what you mean about "where I live with my computer!!" ;-)

We love bookcases because we love books. You found a good one! It's great to have the right place to put your stuff. Enjoy...
Terrific....but one question [oh oh....another question for you to answer] ---the name Aric, is that pronounced like Eric? How unique. I really like that.
My Show N Tell is shared, if you haven't stopped by I hope you will; for a visit.
making room for more book...yes!...it's a good thing!
you'll have to share your "trip albums" sometime. :o)
What a frugal find at the Thrift store! It's a beauitful bookcase for all your wonderful books that didn't have permanent a permanent home before as well as giving you space for more :-)
BTW - I've REloaded my S&T photos so they SHOULD work now! Thanks for the comment you left even though you couldn't see them :-)
Blessings,
Mrs M
That was a nice buy ! very practical !
Great solution to the book storage dilemma! I have several stacks that have not made onto shelves. I need to be looking for a great buy like you found!
lol... I love how your happy to get new furniture. I get like that too! Now...just for fun, what I like to do with bookcases is cut some pretty fabric to fit the back portion only and glue it into place. If you use a mixture of white glue & water you can take it off easily later if you want to change it out. :-)
A 'two-fer' is always a good thing. Would love to hear more about your trip albums.
Hootin Annie - Yes Aric is pronouced Eric. When the pediatrician asked the name at the birth, for the birth certificate her comment was, "You've got to be kidding!". We all love it.
Susan
92!!! Wow, I love your organization. I have a white bookshelf just like it...but I keep in full of stuff I am selling online. Sigh. One day I will have a regular bookshelf!
Thanks for stopping by!
(alphabetized by author too! Amazing...)
bookcases are one of the most wonderful inventions!! Ya, gotta love them!!
What nice shelves. I'm sure it feels so good to be organized.
I must add that I read your blog-aversory questions.I loved your answer to Larissa's question about Mickey being the right one for you. What a touching story. Thanks for sharing that.
I also must add that I spend only one hour a day at blogging right not. I know that this is not the time and season in my life for blogging. I love it and could be addicted to it, but I set the timer, as my husband and young children need me at this time.
I didn't do show and tell this week, but I will next. Blessings, Kathi
Sounds like you have a wonderful book collection (and a wonderful husband!).
Be careful, Susan, that bookshelf is going to fill up real fast! LOL! Happy S&T :)
It's so hard when we have more books than fit on the shelves! Glad you were able to find shelves for you and Aric!
Nice bookcase, Susan, and you can't beat white.
:) Your Valentine's dinner was VERY special!! How very thoughtful of you.
I know what you mean about bookcases; I've got most of the shelves in our library full of my stuff, and another bookcase upstairs full.... I LOVE BOOKS!
Thanks for sharing - and for visiting my blog today. :)
Have a blessed day!
Nice bookshelf! I wish I had one!!!
Hugs, Sharon
That looks great! I love crisp white against colored walls.
It is so pleasing to see books all organized on a pleasing shelf. I am glad you found yours.
What a great find! We never turn down another book shelf at our house either!
Hugs,
Kelli
How nice for the Lord to give you double of what you wanted. He also knew you needed and wanted another bookcase for youself. :)
