SHOW & TELL '08 #11 - Banks

Here we are at yet another Friday and of course that means Show & Tell hosted by Kelli. So get your Show & Tell item ready. Take a picture, write a post, and go to Mr. Linky and share it with all of us. Also, be sure to visit and see all the wonderful items that are shown each week.

My Show & Tell this week is 2 fold.

The two banks on the right are Mission banks. This is a project called Speed The Light. These are actually cans of Prin*gles and are used by the high school department of our church as a fund raising project for Missions. Those in the congregation who choose to participate are given a can. You take the can home, eat the Prin*gles and then save your coins. When your can is full you take it to the church and it is used totally for missions around the world.

The can on the far right says "Every Where" and has a world map as the background with 5 separate pictures of children from around the world. The next can says "Sacrifice" and has various pictures and the scripture "This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."

1 John 4:10

You would be amazed how much money is raised for Missions with this project.

**************************************

The can to the left is one that I did just for kicks. I had an empty can of Prin*gles so decided to look around the house to see what I might use to cover it and make a little, cute bank. What I found was this left over piece of wrapping paper. You could use various things, wrapping paper, fabric, plain paper and put stickers or drawings on it, boys theme of sports or cars, girls themes of various things, just let your imagination go.

I know many of you like to have projects for your children and I thought this was something inexpensive and fun they could do.

Cute bank idea!! We have a plastic baby bottle at home from our church that we are filling for a local pregnancy center!

If you take the pringles can and drill a hole in center of the bottom metal part - you can make a neat toy. I had this idea when I taught - tape a task to the inside of the lid and lay several cans around the room. The kids pick them up - look through and read what they are to do and then they do it! Now that Quintin is reading, I might have to do some - and make some banks too! Thanks!

That's a GREAT idea! My 2 youngest grand-daughters are coming into town on Wed and this would be a great "Gigi & Me" project for them to do! They could save their change and then give it to missions at THEIR church! I have a LOT of scrapbooking scraps and stickers that they could use! Thanks for the idea! They could also take it back on the airplane without a lot of hassle!

those are great....at my church back in alabama, we used mini m&m "cans" for our mission project....they were the perfect size for a quarter and once they were all filled up, wrapped with a one dollar bill on the outside, made a grand total of ten dollars.....its a great project idea for my kids too....

Hi Susan!
What a neat idea! I'm going to have to pass it on to our youth leader. My girls would love to make a bank of their own to save money for some of the missions our church supports too. Have a great weekend!

Great idea - my crafty granddaughter would have a great time with that - she's in to saving money.

As the mission chair of our church, that is an intriguing idea. We've used the mini M&M's containers - they hold uarters perfectly, and about $10 in each one when they're full.

That's great ideas, Susan. To get our kiddos started learning about missions at an early age is so important to help them see their are many needs beyond their own. Thanks for sharing!

Love your idea. I think I will use it for my Teen Sunday School class. Sometime it is hard to motivate them. But give them food and they will do anything. LOL Thanks for sharing this idea

That's a good idea. I think it's neat that you give out a can full of chips. Gave me several ideas.

That is a great idea--and they look nice too. We have had various thinks like that---blessing boxes--you put money in them when you have felt blessed--the money helped college students going into the ministry. Then there was another kind of box for missions. My hubby and I always had one and when it got full we used it on a weekend getaway.

Dear Susan!

I hope you are doing fine. Unfortunately, I am a bit late to visit you for S&T. Í had to do overtime hours at work on Friday and yesterday, it was so warm and sunny outside that I did some gardening all day long! I so much enjoyed putting my fingers in the dirt after my long winter gardening break!

Your banks a a wonderful idea idea to collect money.

Blessing, Anita
