Tulsa Air & Space Museum & Planetarium

Last Friday, August 7th, we took Aric to Tulsa's Air & Apace Museum & Planetarium.

This year there were having a special 2 day celebration honoring the Armed Services and they had 12 aircraft on display out on the runway and they had two huge balloons for the kids to play in out on the grass in front of the Museum. You can see from this picture how large they were.

This was a really cute 3 part balloon blow-up.

This is the middle section and Aric is standing up, so that gives you an idea of the size of these blowups.

Here is another part of this one where they had to crawl through. You can see he is having a grand time and he did both of these many times.

Here's Aric & I in front of the Red Cross emergency helicopter that they use to remove injured service men from the battles

Aric sitting in the cockpit of the Red Cross helicopter with Grandpa looking on.

This special event was hosted by Channel 8 and here is Aric and the pilot in front of the news helicopter.

This wasa T-45 Goshawk used by the Navy for advanced strike-fighter training. The pilot is LCDR Justin Lewis from Choctaw, OK and came from Kingsville, TN.

This is one of Tulsa's Police helicopter. Piloted by Tulsa Police officer Byron Barnhart . Carrying a Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) Camera and the "Night Sun Spotlight," criminals can run, but they can't hide.

In addition to the few planes I've shown pictures of here he also saw: Marine H-34 Choctaw - Air Force T-38 Talon - Navy T-44 Pegasus - Army H-60 Black Hawk - Air Force T-1 Jayhawk - Navy E-2 Hawkeye - Navy C-2 Greyhound - Air Force F-5 Tiger - Air Force T-6A Texan II & Navy E-6 Tacamo. A wonderful display and he pilots were so nice and willing to talk to the kids and explain the air craft to them.

Here Aric is positioning a red dot inside an area by using his feet and hands to manipulate this machine. He also did the robotic arm where he moved, by remote control, an object , pulling it out of a hole from one side and manipulating it to another hole on the other side some distance away.

We didn't take a lot of pictures inside the Museum because we'd shown a lot of it in our post last year here.

Here we are in the Planetarium ready to watch the presentation about the universe called "BIG". And boy is it ever BIG.

This Science Matters truck was parked outside by the balloon blow-ups and was full of various electronic games and tasks. Aric, who loves science, spent a great deal of time in here. In this picture he and the other boy beside him have pulled themselves up off the ground by pulling the pulley.

We had lunch once again as we did last year at Evelyn's Soul Food cafe. A sparking clean place you'd never know about unless you worked in this area near the museum. Delicious food: Mickey & I had turkey & dressing dinner and of course Aric ordered a deluxe cheese burger with fries. Yummy and boy were we hungry, hot and tired!!!!

Looks like this is turning out to be an annual event for us.

Hot and tired one can see.
That is testimony to one thing, it was a good day out.

What a fun day with your dear Grandson, he's so cute! How nice that both you and Micky could spend the day together!

My boys would have loved all the military airplanes. Their one grandfather was in the Navy and has taken them to shows at the Willow Grove Air Base in PA.

What a fun day, especially for Aric! We went to quite a few of these sorts of things because Andy was a plane and helicopter fanatic from the time he was 2.
