THE ABUNDANCE OF RAIN

This spring and summer has been wonderful in our Tulsa area!!!

We began the year with a record breaking 20 consecutive days of rain from April 18th to May 14th. This broke the previous 13 consecutive day records set in April, 1957 & May, 1935.

We had a MUCH cooler summer than usual, with the temperature reaching 100 just a couple of times.

The month of August has been the coolest and most pleasant that I can remember in my 45 years of living in this area. And, with more rain than usual. We have had thunderstorms the past two days during the night with more predicted over this Labor Day Week-end.

Usually by this time of the year everything is burned up and very brown and dry looking. This year everything is still beautiful, lush, rich green.

What really thrills me about this weather report is I believe, and I sense, that the physical rain is just a manifestation of the Super-Natural rain that God is pouring out on our area in the Spirit!!!! It truly is exciting how we see God moving super-naturally in our area.

I would love to hear from others of you as to what you feel God is doing in the area of the country, or world, that you live in. Is this broader than just our buckle of the Bible Belt here in Oklahoma?

His word promises us the early and the latter rains, and I am so blessed to see this.

"Be patient, therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rains."

James 5:7

Addendum: It is now 9:01 and the rain is pelting down on us AGAIN. Come Lord Jesus, COME!!!!

Wow, I almost posted on this very thing last night because out of nowhere we just got a gully-washer. Unexpected, nothing during the day indicated it was coming, but come it did! In fact, a large tree came down across the main road leading into our subdivision. I truly felt it was a spiritual sign beyond the physical relief that came along with it.

I saw it as God coming on the scene. Suddenly and unexpected. That He was only going to allow the onslaught of His people for so long, and then he was going to come like a pounding rain. Refreshing those in need.

The other thing I saw was that the desert doesn't question whether it's rain or not, it simply receives it. The only life the desert gets is from the rain He gives, and I felt there was some serious application on that. As in, the desert doesn't have to see or understand the cloud, it just receives it's outpouring. We could stand to become a bit more like that.

Long response, but it struck a chord with me.

Thank you Kathy for this!!! God always speaks with 2 or more witnesses and you just confirmed what He is speaking to me.

Your application about the desert just opening up and receiving is awesome. Also, His coming suddenly and unexpectedly. WOW What an awesome God we serve.

It's amazing how or states border each other, but our weather has been so different.
We have had record breaking heat all summer and little rain to speak of.
Keeps up praying. I feel so blessed to live in the area I do. So many churches that are full and ministering to people. So many opportunities to study God's word and reach out to others.

Wow, my chin dropped as I read this because at Wednesday night Bible Study we were talking about this very thing. Pastor was talking about a word someone gave him awhile back about the harvest coming to our area and to get ready not for hundreds but for thousands. That's incredible because we live in a small town, population about 15,000. Remember Elijah and the sound of an abundance of rain? There was a cloud the size of a man's hand. An extremely small beginning with a big ending. Our town and my church had an extremely small beginning, but look out for the big ending because there is a sound of abundance of rain. Praise God. Thanks for the Word, it is confirmation for me.

It has been cooler and rainier here also this summer. I love the application of this to our spiritual lives that you posted and also loved what Kathy had to say.

I went ahead and put up a brief post about the rain as well, Susan. I had to after reading and replying to yours. Yes, we have an awesome God who hears the cry of His people, and we are His. How great that is!

Ours is a summer rainfall country.
2008/2009 summer was extremely wet. The rain was mostly continues pouring - no damages to speak of at all.
The rain continued into winter, the last rain we had was in July, totally so called out of place.

Very interesting, I have been praying for early rain this year, for it to rain now soon instead of end Oct or Nov.
Must say I have seen but not taken the time to think about what I saw!

I´m so glad you are getting so much rain. We here in dry, drought stricken Chaco know what it means to receive rain.
I do think God is testing us, to see if we have faith, to see if we do not give up on praying and trusting Him!
The verse you posted is so fitting.
.....the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rains."
We have patience and will keep on praying for the fruit of the earth!

We had a very dry spell once this summer, followed by a rainy spell. Now we are experiencing a few fall like days. That's very unusual for our area here at this time of the year. Also, we've had no threats of Hurricanes on the Gulf Coast. That is awesome.

I don't know what it all means, but I know I'm thankful!

Blessings Susan, have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Oh that's one thing I remember about Tulsa the last time I was there. I think it was a daily occurrence to hear there was yet another Tornado watch and/or warning. Did you have many of those this summer?
