TO TAKE A STAND ........ or NOT

My blog is first and foremost an avenue to share my faith. Secondly, it is a place to share our family happenings and lives as a future record.

Increasing, over the past year, I have found myself taking a political and moral stand on many issues. I had never been particularly interested in politics in my past years. As I have seen things unfold, especially since 1-20-09, I have been compelled to speak up.

I do take a political stand on my blog because I am of the generation who let O'Hair take prayer out of school because we Christians sat back and said, "Oh God won't let that happen." WRONG...it did happen, because as Christians we did nothing. I vowed then and there that I would not and could not ever again not speak up for my God, my country and my beliefs when they were being attacked.

As I see more and more pictures like this,

and read about 50,000 Islams gathering on the Capital Hill (I posted about this here) I MUST speak out.

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men and women to do nothing."

This is what happened

The U. S. Supreme Court issued two bans. One in 1962 and the second in 1963. Both bans were the result of lawsuits against the teaching of religion and religious practices in public schools. Basically stating that organized prayer in schools was a violation of the separation of church and state. It was decided that publicly funded schools were an extension of the state, and that organized prayer or bible readings were a form of proselytizing. The bans not only banned mandatory prayer in schools but also banned the daily reading of bible passages. The lawsuits were supported by several organizations but the most outspoken supporter for banning prayer in schools came from Madalyn Murray O'Hair, the founder of American Atheists, Inc.

&
ROE v. WADE
Decided January 22, 1973

"If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Psalm 11:3

Please stand with me to defend and protect the foundation upon which our Nation was founded.

Speak out & most importantly PRAY!!!!!!

Thank you so much for posting this. Beyond our Savior Jesus, we in the Body are in such dire need of each other.

As the Church seems to be arousing in these days, the spiritual battle waging around us will no doubt arouse with it. It seems to have reached a fever pitch, but unfortunately, it is my understanding that this is the natural state of things and we, for several generations now, have been lulled into allowing the enemy to steal generations by the wonderland of affluence,.

This being said, we, as the Body, need each other's giftings so that we, as living stones being hewn to fit into place, will function as intended, and in concert with other living stones created by our maker for His glory, as opposed to winning battles for the sake of winning battles. My propensity is to do the latter, and I readily admit my need for the softening influence of those in the Body with different giftings. So I thank our father in heaven for your giftings, and the giftings of those like you.

Hi Susan...We're sure getting the "change" that was promised, aren't we? What's incredible is that so many people don't see it...blinded and deceived..even here in blogland I see support for those that are shaking hands with the devil. Even more incredible is that we are afraid of what is coming, and rightly so, but it is the enemies of God that should be afraid, yet it is reversed. I have to remind myself to replace fear with faith daily, as I watch the attempted destruction of a great nation...perishing due to lack of knowledge. God's mercy in response to a pure heart that loves Him will be heard, if not on a national level, it will be on a personal level. God bless you!

What did you think about Glenn Beck telling Katie Couric that John McCain would've been worse for the country than both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama? I found it a bit inconsistent. What is going on with Glenn?

Susan - that is a call to action! Yes, we have sat back for far too long and let things happen. This post says it all and we must speak out!

Joining with you in prayer Susan. Thank you for the visit to my blog today. I was actually battling something this morning and your comment brought an unexpected confirmation of what God wanted to show me. I had just read (I'm doing Beth Moore's Esther study) and I just read again how Mordecai stood when Haman walked through the city gates. I was getting rhema for my situation and being reminded to stay standing. How interesting that you commented on my blog about the Ginger comment I made - which was again about standing through the slimy darts. I was wavering in my mind about 'should I stand' during this or should I just make nice and move on. I love how God uses His Word and unexpected confirmations to encourage us to stay standing. I spoke to a friend this morning and she encouraged me to stay standing, read my study = stand, see your encouragement = reminder to stand. God is so good and thank you for seeing that comment today - it was a God moment for me.

Blessings,
Melodye

I agree with your first commenter about the giftings in the Body of Christ. Yes we are all called to pray, and thru this intimacy with the Lord, He will direct each of us individually the steps we personally need to take in issues such as the political ones you mention from time to time.
Some may be called to be so bold as to march the Capital steps, while others might be urged to stay on their knees. Both are so important.
I'm glad for your boldness to share your faith and speak out in this time of turmoil.
Thanks!

Thank you for posting this and for taking a stand. I sometimes wonder if I should voice my beliefs on my blog, since so many think it is not the place, but what does God say about being ashamed of Him.... So I do, but not nearly enough.

Joining with you in prayer! ~hugs, Rhonda :)

I agree Susan. The days of sitting back and not coming against opposition to our faith are over with.

If you snooze, you loose!!!!

It's time for those in the faith of Jesus Christ to start building up the rest of the body and stand on the Word of God.

Susan,

Thank you for sharing. Although we may not always agree, I certainly appreciate the heart with which you share. And we DO agree on most things. Your passion is so beautiful and important.

Hugs,

Susan

Susan, you couldn't have said it any plainer, I agree with everything you said. I too have been on the side lines of politics for many years, till just recently my eyes are opened to all the wrongs we have allowed to enter into the scheme of our Country. Thanks you so much for this post, if you don't mind I will refer others to your blog for a eye opener read.

How can any Christian who loves his/her country not agree with you? We must speak out, with firm conviction, but with the love of Christ. We're all with you, Susan.

I agree with you Susan. I'm so glad more and more Christians are taking a stand. What is happening in our country right now is really scary. I'm so glad God is in control and we can be secure in his promises. I see so many end time prophecies coming true.

We must speak out Susan, and I echo what Maxine said, "with firm conviction, and with the love of Christ".
