I LOVE A GOOD BOOK

Yes, I love to read......BUT I really love to read a book that speaks directly to an issue that effects our walk with The Lord.

This book does just that.

I first heard about The Bait of Satan, by John Bevere, about 4 years ago. A friend at church had read it and was saying what a great book it was. Then last year it seemed like everywhere I turned someone was telling me about this book. I always wanted to read it but never had.

Now that I have read it, I highly recommend this book. As far as I'm concerned, if you are a serious follower of Jesus this is one of those MUST READ books. The subject matter, Living Free From theDeadly Trap of Offence, is a timely topic.

"And then shall many be offened, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." Matthew 24:10-1 KJV

Two quotes from the book that really spoke to me are:

"Physical growth is a function of time.
Intellectual growth is a function of learning.
Spiritual growth is neither a function of time or learning
but is a function of obedience."

&

"Purposes for shaking.
1. To bring it closer to its foundation.
2. To remove what is dead.
3. To harvest what is ripe.
4. To awaken.
5. To unify or mix together so it can no longer be separated."

I'm wondering how many of you have read this book?
If you have I'd love to hear your comments.

If not, please do. It may just change your life & your eternity.

Hi Susan,
I haven't read this book! but I have read other John Bevere books and have several cd's and vhs tapes of his, and have seen him speak a number of times. He's very imformative on the things of the Spirit!
Hope you have a great weekend! and thanks for your kind comments on my blog! :)

Hi Susan,

As you're aware, I'm currently reading this book. I was especially touched by the part you mentioned...about being shaken. That really spoke to me regarding some things I've recently gone through. God has really been teaching me (or trying) how to love as He loves and I have to admit I couldn't do it on my own. Couldn't even come close. Reading this book has shown me a whole new way of internalizing the things people say and do. satan does know how to bait the trap for us to walk right into, and most of the time we're never even aware of it. This book gives us a 'heads up' so we can be ready when satan comes knocking.

The copy I'm reading is borrowed from a friend, so today I went out and bought my own copy. I want to be able to refer back to it when I need to.

Yes, I've read the book, but it was many years ago, probably when it first came out. We had it in our church bookstore. I would have to re-read it.

I heard that he recently wrote on honor. Is that part of this book, or do you know? I have heard such good things about him. I'm looking forward to reading more of his work.

I've never heard of that book. But I like the first quote you added from it - about growth. You must have had it on fb too, because I remember seeing it and really liking it.

I always enjoy when people share books that have meant a lot in their spiritual walks!
