Anonymous Writing about Age

Well, I'm not QUITE 80 yet, although 72 is mighty close!!!, but wanted to share this cute and I'm finding so true writing.

Today, dear Lord, I'm 80,

There's much I haven't done.

I hope, deal Lord you'll let me live

until I'm 81.

By then, if I haven't finished

all that I want to do,

Would you let me stay awhile

Until I'm 82?

So many places I want to go,

So very much to see,

Do you think that you could manage,

To make it 83?

The world is changing very fast,

There is so much in Store,

I'd like it very much to live,

Until I'm 84.

And if by then I'm still alive,

I'd like to stay, till I'm 85.

More planes will be up in the air,

So I'd really like to stick,

And see what happens to the world,

Until I am 86.

I know, dear Lord, it's much to ask,

and it must be nice in Heaven,

But I would really like to stay,

Until I'm 87.

I know by then, I won't be fast,

And Sometimes may be late,

But it would be nice to be around,

Until I'm 88.

I will have seen so many things,

and had such a wonderful time,

I'm sure that I'll be willing,

to leave at 89.

MAYBE!!!!

My personal addition to this: There is so little time and yet so much to accomplish. I am thankful for my health, the ability, and the desire to serve Him.

Colossians 3:17 - "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." KJV

&

"Let every detail in your lives - word, actions, whatever -- be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way." The Message

Although I am far from 80, it did cause me to smile too. Pray we will have good health when we are advanced in years.

I like the poem! I think you will be using whatever years the Lord gives you wisely - until He calls you home!

I may mot be 80 yet but my body says I am because of all my medical issues so this poem is appropriate even for me. Love it and I think the poem shows the human spirit and curiosity that doesn't just stop because we age. Our inner spirit is still alive and well, even if the outer body isn't.
