Life in our Small Rural Town

Is very interesting
and sometimes surprising!!

Last Sunday morning as I walked into my bedroom to get ready for church I looked out the window to see two cows in our front yard!

By the time I shouted to Mickey & we got the camera the cows were not only already in front of our house but we had added this police car & police man who had just arrived and gotten out of his car.
In this shot the 2 cows are being "herded" by the patrol car and 2 police men on foot down the road.  You can see other neighbors had come out to see.

A second patrol car arrives as yet another, third, cow has arrived in the yard across the street, and just to the south of us.
With the patrol car pursuing this 3rd cow proceeds into the yard directly across the street from us and on her merry way.

Well, it was a surprising event and added a little humor to our early Sunday morning so I thought I'd share it with you.

Happy herding!!!!!

It is so wonderful to hear of a place where herding cows is what occupies police instead of getting shot by robbers as what happened here.

Okay, this is sooo funny. You know...if your ox is in the ditch...

I can imagine the amusement you got from that little experience, Susan! When we had our own cows they had gotten out and into our back yard before. But was not so funny when trying to round them up one ran into the edge of the above-ground swimming pool and tore up the pump (sigh). They can cause some damage being so large. We had Herefords.

Small town living is always interesting, isn't it? I remember a few years ago seeing a sickly looking coyote in our front yard. I called the police and one showed up in my drive and got out with a rifle. He asked me if I minded if he shot the critter!! Said critter ran away before that shot was fired, though. I never did know what happened to it.

I love it Susan! I wish I still lived in an area where this could happen. I miss the farm a lot. Of course I am well aware of the damage a cow can do to a garden. LOL

I have enjoyed browsing through your blog catching up. This post is funny! The policemen here in our small town get their excitement with "herding" alligators when they come into the neighborhood yards!
