A QUESTION - COULD SARAH PALIN BE A DEBROAH ?
On Sunday, August 24th our Pastor, Gary Rogers, preached a message called GOD'S CALL FOR YOUR HELP. It is amazing that he preached this and 5 days later McCain named Sarah Palin as his VP choice!
I was thinking about all this today and remembered the message and decided to post excerpts of it here with my added comments.
In Judges 4:1 " And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord."
Judges 4:3 "And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord: for he (Jaban King of Canaan) had nine hundred chariots of iron; and TWENTY YEARS he mightily oppressed the children of Israel."
So the people have been praying for God to deliver them from their captivity. Then Deborah, who was a prophetess, a wife and she judged Israel at that time, enters the scene in Judges 4:5. In Judges 4:6 Debra sent for Barak, the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnathtali, and said unto him, "Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?"
Barak tells Deborah he won't go and do what God has told him to do unless she goes with him. It wasn't that Barak didn't know what God wanted him to do. It was he just chose NOT to do it.
Then Judges 4:9 "And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the Lord shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh."
The victory was won, because God was with them and had heard their prayer, but it would not have been won if this woman of God, Deborah has not risen up and gone with him.
Is Sarah Palin the Deborah God has called for this time?!!!
God has always used people to accomplish His purposes. He is still using people today. Are we doing our part in what God is calling us to do?
Got is calling by His Spirit for believers to get involved!!!!!!!

Now that is a thought provoking post!!! It mskes you think, msybe she is. And the timing your preacher's sermon is pretty interesting, too!!!
Good post. I don't know if she is a Deborah, but she is a woman of God and I've been very impressed by what I've seen and heard.
I was excited she was on the ticket.
I do think she could be her presents in this election has sparked an interest that I had lost. Many others probably feel the same way too; I do feel she just might be.
I wonder if Sarah believes that she is a Deborah. She does seem to have a knack for calling things like the Iraq War as God's will.. not that I agree with her about that :)
i won't presume to know if she is a deborah or not, or that she is even following God's calling for her life. it's easy to reflect on who we want her to be.
ironically enough, i posted my thoughts on ms. palin today.
Very interesting, Susan. Only God knows for sure, but yesterday I read an article which said when Sarah became Governor, she emailed her former pastor and asked him for a biblical example of people who were great leaders and what was the secret of their leadership. Apparently, he referred her to Esther, a beauty queen who became a real one; whom God gave strength she never knew she had. Her former pastor feels Sarah has lived out this advice as Governor and would do so again as VP nominee.
All I know is, knowing she is a wife and mother, her highest calling, I'm praying that God will somehow take this whole thing and use it to His glory. Our country has been slipping fast and I and many other believers have been praying for deliverance. I'm trusting that if our Lord does have mercy on this needy land, He'll do it however and with whomever He chooses. I'm praying much for Sarah as I believe she has a huge servant's heart. And, of course, for Mr. McCain that he'll have continue to be allowed to serve the country I believe he loves. This whole election is amazing.
