THE CURRENT - THE TRIP - THE GOOD - THE BAD

We are home for less than 24 hours and Mickey's double bi-pass heart surgery has been moved up to October 9th at 6 a.m. (tomorrow) Please pray for him and this surgery which is to last 4-6 hours.

----------------------------------

A brief recap

As you know Mickey and I left on September 30th to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on October 4th. We headed to Flagstaff, Arizona where we were married and Grand Canyon where we spent our wedding night.

We drove the first day to Albuquerque to visit my forever friend, Joan & her husband, Jim for 3 days. I had set up a luncheon meeting with Kitty, At Home With Kitty. You can read about it on her blog. I will post my side when all this is over.

On Friday, October 3rd, we drove to Flagstaff, Arizona where we had married 50 years ago. I had contacted Brenda, It's All Good, to meet with her. You can read about this meeting on her blog. I will post my side when all this is over.

On Saturday, October 4th, we had spent the day celebrating our 50th at the very place where it all began in 1958. We had a wonderful day. I will post all about this later.

Then we went to Grand Canyon where we had spent our wedding night.

I had to take Mickey to the emergency ward at Flagstaff hospital about 9 p.m. that night. We had our choice to stay and have the bi-pass done in Flagstaff or get him home for the scheduled 10-16 surgery in Oklahoma City. Neither of us wanted to be isolated in Flagstaff alone so we opted to make the journey home. He was released from the hospital at 1:55 on Sunday, 10-5, and we began the 1000 mile trip home.

I drove until 7:30 p.m. when we stopped at Grants, New Mexico for the night. Mickey had said he was feeling okay during this 5 1/2 hour drive. We checked into the motel and almost immediately, when he tried to lay down, he began having trouble again and I took him to the emergency at Cibola Hospital. They then moved him into ICU and watched him all night.

Our wonderful son, Marc, made arrangements to fly into Albuquerque, and was to arrive at 1:00 p.m. (10-6) and either I was to be there to pick him up, or he would rent-a-car and drive to Grants. The hospital decided he was stable enough for us to make the 85 mile trip to Albuquerque and released him at 11:30. I pulled up at the Albuquerque airport at 12:59......his plane was on time......and Marc was behind the drivers seat, with Mickey still in the passenger seat, and me safe and very relieved in the back seat at 1:09 and we began the L-O-N-G drive home.

Mickey seemed to do better as we got out of the high altitudes of 7000' - 6000' - & 5000'. We reached Oklahoma City and checked into a motel at 10:40 p.m. We had planned to drive to the VA Hospital in OKC but Mickey was feeling so much better and he did not want to do that. Marc & I decided we would check into the motel and take him to the hospital the next morning.

At 9 a.m. yesterday, 10-7, we took him to the VA Hospital. They moved the surgery to Thursday, 10-9, at 6 a.m. They did all the necessary pre-opt tests and let us come back to Tulsa. He had a very good night of rest and comfort in his own bed, in his own home.

We are heading back to OKC today around 2 and check into the motel. He will have the surgery in the morning at 6 a.m. Marc, Oksana, Aric, Suzette & Jacque will all come and join us in OKC this evening at the motel around 6. One of them will be staying with me at all times. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is for Mickey & I to have the great children we have, and especially our son, Marc, who always seems to come to our aid. Remember the story here when he showed up, just in time!!!

I know this is rambling and disconnected but I've tried to give you a run-down of our past 4 horrendous days and mostly ask that all my wonderful friends, who are prayer warriors and believers as we are, to pray. I will get word out as soon as possible when the surgery is complete.

We know who's we are.

We know who holds us in the palm of His hand.

We know in whom we put our trust and our faith.

JESUS our LORD & Savior.

Oh Susan, I have chills of empathy as I read this post. My Dad had a triple bypass 9 weeks ago, after a sudden heart attack that came out of the blue- no history, nothing!

Such an upsetting thing to face, but I am praying for you to feel the amazing peace of God surround you and your husband, and know that He is with Mickey and the doctors throughout this procedure.
I am so, so sorry that you are going through this- but I hope you will feel the same comfort that my Mom and I felt, in knowing that this surgery would save his life and restore him to us.

My dad is doing fabulously now, and is back to work and feeling better every day. So sorry this is rambling, but I just want you to know that I understand what you are feeling, and praying for you.

Sorry your trip didn't turn out the way you wanted, but as you already know, GOD has a purpose and a plan. :) I'm praising GOD that by JESUS' stripes Mickey is healed, that healing is the bread of HIS children, that NO weapon formed against Mickey shall prosper. That you and Mickey are the head and not the tail.

Here's some other verses...
I Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

Psalm 103:3 "Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;"

Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

Jeremiah 17:14 "Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise"

Jeremiah 30:17a "For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD"

Exodus 15:26 "And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee."

Proverbs 4:20-22 "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."

Psalm 107:20 "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."

James 5:14,15 "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him"

Be encouraged my sister! Praying for you both!

My prayers are with Mickey as he has his surgery tomorrow morning...please let us know as soon as you can how it all went once it's over.

How wonderful that you were able to celebrate your 50th anniversary in the spot were you were married but what a shame Mickey wasn't feeling well. The higher altitude certainly didn't seem to agree with him!! xoxo

Susan,

My heart is heavy for you as I read this. I think of the fifty years you have loved this man, your partner, your other half, and the way you have written about him...You are in my prayers at 1:00 a.m. in my part of the country. I am up late, and will be lifting your family in prayer. How good the Lord is to have sent your son, Marc, to care for you both during this. May you sense the nearness of our God, the tenderness of His mercies, the power of His healing and His hand in each and every day that is yours and Mickey's!

Hugs to you!

I'm sorry all of this had to happen when Mickey had such a nice surprise planned for you. I hope and pray he's doing all right by now!

We're heading for Georgia tomorrow morning and hoping we can enjoy and relax instead of worrying about Kristen and all the "stuff" that is going on.

I just now read of your journey these last few days. What a scary time for you, dear Susan. I pray the surgery was successful today and that he will have a good night tonight and he'll soon be feeling so much better. My brother-in-law had SIX bypasses in March and he's feeling better than he had for years.
