ANOTHER BIRTHDAY = Another Family Meal & Party

Honoring our Suzette's birthday.

For family birthday's we either take the birthday person out to the restaurant of their choice, or I fix a family a family meal of their choice. When Suzette and I were shopping a couple of weeks ago I asked her if she'd like Dad & I to take them out to dinner and she quickly said, "No! I want a home cooked roast dinner."

Here Birthday is actually December 13th, but we gathered at our home on Friday night, December 12th to celebrate. As per her request the menu was large pot roast dinner with carrots, potatos, celery, onion and gravy. In stead of a salad I served the sliced fresh pineapple (that was in Rich & Regina's lovely fruit basket) and cottage cheese. The bread was braided french rolls I had bought. Jacque brought the dessert and instead of Birthday cake we had a delicious Raspberry Cheesecake. As usual I served white & red grape juice cocktails.

Top row: Suzette, Dave, Aric, Oksana & Benny
Front row: Marc, Mickey & Jacque (I was the photographer)

I'm in this mix and Jacque is taking the picture- Benny's taking this one.

Now come the gifts. Here Suzette is reading the BD card from Mickey & I. I'm one who always buys a card telling them how precious and cherished they are to us, because they are. You can see her serious look as she reads it

Our gift to her, offwhite gloves & scarf to go with a new black Cashmere & Wool coat she had just gotten.

Marc, Oksana & Aric's gift of 4 lovely tile
OU coasters. You can see Suzette looking
at her husband, Dave. They are HUGH OU
fans!!

Jacque & Benny's gift, A pink Bass Pro
Sweatshirt. Remember the "pink" one Dave
first got for his BD!!! Hum....wonder if Mom
(me) is getting a pink one for my BD?!!!

Another gift from her sister, Jacque. Remember the flower pot Jacque bought for me for Mother's Day on her trip to Florida. See it here. Well, she had bought this one for Suzette at the same time and had been saving it until now. Jacque is always thinking ahead. These flower pots were so cute and special!!

Another fun, special family day for this Joyce clan. Mickey & I are so proud of our family!!! Granddaughter Jessica was missing, working as usual, but she'll be with us Christmas. YEAH!!! Son, David, missing. David is now living out of state but he will be coming in on Christmas Day to spend 8 days here. We are looking forward to seeing him.

We did a bit a celebrating on Friday night, too. It was my dad's 79th birthday. I was at the hospital in the afternoon and thought I felt up to stopping at my parent's later that night. It didn't take too long to realize that I should have stayed home. I don't think I ever missed my dad's birthday.

I love that your family all gets together. We used to when the kids were little, but somehow it went by the wayside. Life is so short and I wish we would all slow down and enjoy one another more.

Sounds like a wonderful family time for all. Best wishes to Suzette. Birthdays are wonderful. We had a party for my youngest on Saturday, but her birthday isn't until a week from today. She's turning sweet sixteen. May post a picture or two of the party later.
