FAMILY - FUN - EATING - What we do best!!

Mickey's niece, Regina, her husband, Rich, & their dog, Shep, from Warrington, Virginia came and spent two wonderful days with us. It was such fun having them.

Friday night we took them out to eat at a lovely Italian restaurant and had a grand leisurely time. Then we drove them to Rhema Bible College where we saw the wonderful display of tens of thousands of Christmas lights they put out for this area each Christmas season. One of our "must do" each season. As always, it was wonderful.

Saturday morning, after I fixed a nice breakfast of sausage links, scrambled eggs, stewed apples, sliced oranges, Cinnamon rolls, toast & coffee, we headed out to show them our lovely city of Tulsa.

Tulsa is very well know for the beautiful Art Deco buildings we have from the 1920's & 1930's. We spent the morning driving them around to see them. Around lunch we went to Utica Square, Tulsa's elite shopping center. Regina bought a couple of gifts for some friends. Then we had lunch at Gol*die's Hamburger, some of Tulsa's best burgers. Then we drove through Woodward Park and then we went to Philbrook Museum. Philbrook is the mansion of Waite Phillips, the founder of Phillips Petroleum and was built in the 1920's. We saw beautiful art work of the Victoria era, plus Christmas trees and Gingerbread houses made and decorated by Tulsa's school children. The Lord blessed us with a lovely day weather wise....bright, beautiful, blue skies and temps in the high 50's.

Philbrook - You can read about this beautiful 72 room mansion, built in 1927 and given to the City of Tulsa and opened as an Art Museum in 1939, here.

We got home about 4:30. We had planned dinner for all the family, so they could meet Regina & Rich, at 6 o'clock. I had prepared 3 cheese enchilada's, a big pot of pinto beans with ham, prior to their arriving, because I knew we'd been running around all day and I didn't want to spend our time in the kitchen. All I had to do when we came in was fix a huge tossed salad, heat up the enchilada's and we were good to go.

Jacque & Benny were the first to arrive. Then Suzette, Dave, Oksana & Aric arrived. We were scheduled to pick Oksana & Aric up from school on Friday and they were going to spend the night with us as Marc's company celebrated their Christmas Party in Oklahoma City Friday night. Suzette & Dave graciously picked them up and they spent the night and day with them. Marc was the last to arrive and dinner was served.

Jacque, Benny & Regina

Marc serving himself enchilada's.

Mickey & Aric dishing up their Pinto beans.

Suzette & Dave waiting their turn.

Benny & Jacque full and satisfied.

Benny being a great sport and letting Oksana take a picture of him in an old Easter hat I got her about 10 years ago when she was 3. Don't know HOW I failed to get a picture of Oksana but she was very present!!!

Regina, Rich, Susan & Mickey. Thanks so much for coming. We had a wonderful time.

The lovely fruit basket Regina & Rich brought us. Wish I'd have thought to take a picture of it while the beautiful wrapping and bow were one it :o(

Then, OF COURSE, we had to watch OU beat MSU for the Big 12 conference game in Kansas City!!!!! Mickey & I are not big football fans but our kids are!!!!! Rich & Regina were rooting for MSU as they had lived in St. Louis for 12 years. We were quite the rowdy bunch!!! In case you haven't heard....OU won and will be playing Florida for the National Championship!!!!!

Our next big thing is this coming Friday night when I'm having another big dinner and we're getting together to celebrate Suzette's birthday!!!! Then comes Jacque's BD, granddaughter, Jessica's BD, then Christmas. WHEEEEEEEE !!!!

Your time out and about sounds so fun! I must be hungry because all I could think of is how all that eating sounded so good! Finally I am able to post a comment. We got the internet going and then the dogs chewed up the phone line and we lost it again...but a bit of duct tape later and it is one again! ( the ross's have been known to be called rednecks from time to time!)
I hope you and Mickey are doing well. You both look great!
