Oksana Lee Joyce - Our Granddaughter-Part II

Here is Oksana and her very proud dad, Marc.
Marc was awarded a cow bell, that had been painted Edison's green, that said "Pom Dad". Wasn't that the cutest!!!! Wish we'd taken a picture of it. :o(
Here you can see some of the girls behind the many trophies that Edison won. This Banquet was honoring the 6th, 7th & 8th grade squads. Oksana is the one in the green top. By the way, the plaid shorts were one of the gifts given to the girls, along with a white top that had "POM" in green sequins. The girls slipped the shorts on over their slacks!!

The girl hugging Oksana is her "Big Me", Aubri.

During try-outs each, going to be, 6th grader is assigned to a 7th grader as her "Big Me". This older, more experienced girl, helps the new ones learn and is just there to support them in any way. Oksana was so blessed to have Aubri as her "Big Me". The girls have developed a strong bond and friendship that I am sure will last for years. Isn't that a great idea? Now as Oksana is a "pro" she will be assigned as a "Big Me" to a new 6th grader coming in.

This brings back so many great memories of my brief "career" as a cheerleader in middle school. By high school I was too involved in theater to continue on the squad. No regrets, though.

Congratulations to Oksana and her teammates.

Like Aisha, I was a cheerleader in middle school. Can you believe it! More importantly my Alicia was a cheerleader in high school and a very good one. We have wonderful memories of her big smile and enthusiasm. What a great time for these kids. You can be very proud of Oksana. This sport takes hard work and effort on the girls part. I love the photos. It brings back such great memories for me :) :)

Your grandaughter is beautiful and you must be so proud. How nice to end the year with a banquet.
I love the "Big Me" idea. We did something similar when I was on the flag team.
