A Very Special "win" from a Very Special Friend.

My very talented blog friend, Sunny, of Sunny's Studio, and Changing Lanes, recently had a drawing for a small 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" oil painting.   I have been amazed at Sunny's art and I left comments each and every day.  I WON!!!!  And, when my oil canvas arrived and I realized it was the manger scene above I was just so delighted!!!

I have it sitting on the bookshelf in my living room, right in front of the small (6 3/4") antique books that belonged to my father.  Trust me, it will reside there each and every 365 days of the year!!!!

I absolutely was thrilled when I heard I'd won, and then when I opened that package and saw WHAT I'd won.  Thank you so very much Sunny.  I truly treasure it and your friendship.

YEAH!!! - I am no longer cameraless

I know it's no big deal to you but it's a BIG deal to me. After several days of looking, pricing, comparing, asking questions, seeking advice I am now the owner of one of these. I'd take a picture of my pretty new, green colored camera......but since I'd need the camera to do so, and how so and that can't be done I had to take a picture of the box!!!

I ended up spending about double what I wanted to spend, as a new camera was certainly not in the month of December with 6 birthdays and Christmas but I couldn't stand not having a camera.

For a good laugh today, please go here to Becky's blog and view the picture there. I love how fun and creative people can be!!

GOD MADE THE STARS & THE MOON

Don't know if you could see this in your part of the country last night or not but the position of Venus and the Moon was just perfect last night.

Not the best pictures in the world but not bad for just our little digital camera. These were taken off our back patio between the trees.

Part of Gods Great Big Beautiful World
How could anyone NOT believe in Him?

YOU LOOK JUST LIKE YOUR MOTHER

The picture, on the left, was taken of my mother, Pauline Dickey Errett, in 1973. She was 67 years old
This picture on the right was taken of me this year. I am 69 years old.
Happy Mothers Day!
I wrote a tribute to my Mom that says all the things I feel and would say about her this Mother's Day. I hope if you have not read it, and have the time, you will do so.
The name of this post is based on the following story. In 1962
Mickey and I and our 2 young daughters, our sons were not yet born, made a trip back to Tennessee to visit his family. On the return trip to Denver, where we were living at the time, we stopped in Missouri and dropped in unannounced on my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who all lived around
there. Since my parents and I had lived in New Mexico all my early life I had seen my grandparents only on 4 or 5 occasions before this.
The 2 days we were there everyone kept telling me "You look just like your mother!". Now when you are 25 years young and your mother is 56 years old you do not remotely feel that you look like her, nor do you want to.
It has only been the last few years, as I'm approaching the age my mother was when she passed away and I see pictures of her compared to pictures of me now that I can see just how very much I do resemble her.
I am very proud of the fact that I not only resemble her in looks but I hope I have many of the traits that she instilled in me during my life time. She was a woman of true grace, refinement and character and I have endeavored to be like her. She taught me many things: honesty, politeness, and good manners. I always knew she was there for me and for my family. We ALL miss you very much Mother.

SENIOR PICTURE.........and more!

This post is for Leigh Ann aka Momma Roar who recently posted a childhood picture of the "baseball" girl and then her senior picture and asked us to post our senior picture. I'm going to do that and a few more.

This picture was taken of me in 1942 when I was 4 years old. My mother had made the dress for me. It was a royal blue velvet and the star buttons were pink as was the hair bow. I felt so elegant and pretty :o)

This picture was taken in 1951 when I was 13 years old. Like most 13 year old I thought I was "grown up".

This is my senior picture. It was taken in 1954. I was 16 years old and "KNEW" I was grown up!

They didn't LET us have our boyfriends in our senior pictures, Leigh Ann. I'm glad because it wasn't Mickey so I wouldn't be posting it!!!!

This one was taken in 1993. I was 56 years old and "THOUGHT" I was old!!!
I'm posting this because Leigh Ann's senior pictures were taken in the 1990's and I was already "old". By the way, for those of you who have read my post about my Angels birthday cake. This is the birthday cake my son-in-love, Dave baked for me. He had no idea what a big deal that would be for me as I'm had so few of them since I have a Christmas Birthday.
Thanks for letting me share these with you. Who else is going to follow Leigh Ann's request to share your senior picture? Be sure and let her (and me, too. Please) know so we can come look and see.
Happy Mother's Day

Paper Angel

I haven't even finished blogging about my angels and God blesses me with a new one!!

Monday night some dear friends, Jack & Mary, invited us over for a delicious dinner of Corn Beef & Cabbage. Mary is a gourmet cook and every meal she prepare is divine and always set on a beautiful table. She has many sets of beautiful dishes and the table setting always blends with what she has prepared. Such a joy and treat always. She even had a home made apple pie. Yummy :o)

Jack and Mary have given me quite a few of my angels and know how I love my angels. So after dinner Mary presents this darling card to me. It is hand made (she got and other delightful designs at a garage sale) out of paper, and then raised fabric, button, yarn etc. Isn't she precious? I love blue and have a lot of blue in my home so she fits right in. Of course, any angel always fits right in. If you go back and look at my post about my 3 fabric angels you can see she almost looks like them!!

In case you're new to my blog page and would like to read about some of my other angels you can do so by going to My Little Angel.

If you're not bored with my angels you can read more here and here. I still have a few others blogs to do about some more angels later.

Thanks for sharing one of my loves and treasurers. I'd love to know about some of your collections and loves.

P.S. I hope these links worked. Remember I'm still learning!!! If not kindly please let me know.
Thanks!
