INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

I had two brave souls that stepped up to the plate to be interviewed by me. Myrna of Cherish....the Word, and Pam of Midnight Musings. So here goes ladies........

1) If you were going to lose EVERYTHING you owned and could only save ONE item what would it be? And why? (this has to be a thing, not a person or animal)

2) What was the worse mistake you ever made? Why or what caused you to make it?

3) What one person has had the most influence in helping you become who "YOU" are today? Why or how? (this has to be someone you've personally known during your lifetime)

4) If you had a 2 week all-expense-paid vacation to anywhere you wanted to go, where would you go? Why or what would you do?

5) What is THE one most important quality or trait that you look for in a friend? Why?

6) What one trait do you find the most annoying in a person? Would you still be friends with that person?

My BEAUTIFUL Angel

Kelli is hosting Show & Tell Friday. I've been reading the posts the last several weeks and so enjoying them I've decided to participate this week.





I will not only be doing the Show & Tell but continue showing you my angel collection.

As you can see this is my BEAUTIFUL Angel because she is the prettiest of them all.
She was a Christmas present to me this past Christmas from my daughter, Jacque.

I was stunned at her beauty and delicacy holding the gentle dove in one hand
and the other resting near her arm.
Her lovely blue eyes and faint pink lips.

Her slender hands and fingers.
The filigree of her wings.

At 17 1/2" tall she is one of my largest angels.
The picture doesn't capture it, but she is totally white and silver with silverspecks on the

doves, wings and her flowing dress.
She has a very prominent place in our home and hearts.

HAVE PASSPORT WILL TRAVEL!

I Am SO happy. Look what just came via Fed-X about 30 minutes ago. MY PASSPORT!!

Now I', ready to go....well not quiet....my bags not packed......my rides not ready (Hurry up Don!).....oops.........most important of all........Mickey's passport did not come yet. Surely can't go without my darling hubby.:o)

Well, let me tell you.......come the end of June us four Okies are on our way to Nova Scotia! Not only to see the Halifax Tattoo but also to see The Ship Hector at Pictou (for those of you who haven't read the earlier post about our previous experience with The Ship Hector go here ) which was a highlight of our previous journey to Nova Scotia.


SO YES, I HAVE PASSPORT AND I WILL TRAVEL.

INTERVIEWED

I was one of the eight brave souls who volunteered to be interviewed by Leigh Ann aka Momma Roar. Here goes.

How would a good friend describe you? Loyal, steadfast, real and truthful. Since I have a forever friend of over 60 years, another that would have been 50 years (had she not gone to heaven and left us early!!) and another current 31 year old friendship I think I would qualify for loyal and steadfast.

If you could go back in time, say 10 years, what is something you would tell the "you" of 1997? Oh Leigh Ann I love this question. I was so excited when I first read the list and saw this question. Why? Because 10 years ago, almost to the exact date!!! May 5, 1997 my husband had just retired, we had just closed on selling our large home we no longer needed since the kids were all raised, I took a 6 month leave of absence from my job at a CPA firm and we headed off (On Cinco de Mayo - remember I'm originally from New Mexico!) on my husbands dream of going to Alaska. I would tell myself - DO IT. We did and we are so glad we did and have never regretted it for one minute And it led eventually to 4 years of traveling in a 30' 5th wheel all over the U.S.A. and Canada.


How do you determine or evaluate success? I had a preacher one time who use to say, "Success is the ability to help another in need." Even though that is not original with me I think it says a lot and I believe it. The "help" we give another in need does not always have to be monetary (although it certainly can be). It sometimes is just saying the right word, having the correct advise WHEN ASKED (not just randomly offered without being asked!), just a smile at the right moment or to the person who needed it at that moment, a touch on the arm, a hug, an invitation, just saying "I care" or "I love you", being there to lend a helping hand when needed. To me these are how I evaluate success.


What were your most/least favorite subjects in school? Why? Most favorite - Math, because I was good at it. Least favorite - Spelling, because I was not good at it and am still not. Thank goodness for spell check!!


What are your hobbies? What do you do in your spare time? I use to do a lot of embroidery, counted cross stitch, crafts of different kinds. I would still love to do those things but my eye sight has gotten such that I can't do them justice any more so I don't do them. My new hobby certainly has to be Blogging. I absolutely love it and spend every spare minute doing it. Someone asked me the other day if I had time to do their accounting work....before I could even answer Mickey said, "She has a full-time job." I knew what he meant!


Describe the most rewarding experience of your life thus far. Marrying Mickey Joyce and maintaining that marriage, in spite of some hard and bad times, for 47 years. Included in this is raising our 4 children and seeing them love us and hold us in high esteem.

BREAKING BREAD TOGETHER

Last night was a fun night at our house as we entertained guests. Actually we had 2 of our favorite friend couples (Don & Barbara & Jack & Mary) in to meet our daughter, Jacque's, special man in her life, Benny. So counting Mickey & I there were 8 of us.

We have such great friends and we love getting together and seems like a lot of the times we spend together are eating at each other's homes. There is something special about "Breaking Bread Together".

I am putting the finishing touches on the table setting in this picture. I had been cooking all day because the meal I prepared was a family recipe I've had for years. It is spaghetti, but it is made not only with home made sauce but also a big roast. It is yummy and one of my specialities. We also had a big tossed salad, home made dressing, and garlic bread. For dessert I had a chocolate cake and then Mary (who was not suppose to bring anything!!!!) brought not one, but two home made pies. Apple & Cherry. Apple because she knows Mickey loves Apple Pie and Cherry for me. Thank you Mary, you're always such a sweetheart. So you could have your choice or sample all!!

We had a fun evening of laughter, talk and just enjoying each other. Sweet, sweet fellowship. Lots of talk about everything from The Lord to Benny's new boat he just bought and Jack's new motorcycle, our upcoming trip to Nova Scotia. We have no shortage of talking material. Dinner was at 6:30 and we broke up about 9:30.

The Lord blesses us so much and one of our true blessings has been the wonderful people he brings into our lives.

OUT OF THE MOUTH OF BABES

As you know I posted, just yesterday about our son, Marc, being a single dad. Well this morning, on the phone Marc shared the following with me.

Marc & Oksana had a counseling session yesterday afternoon. Usually grandpa and I pick Aric up from school and then Marc & Oksana come in when they are finished with the counseling. This time we had a mix-up on the counseling date and since I had already scheduled this dinner for the 8 of us there was no way we were available to get Aric. Marc said, "No problem I'll just take him with us".

Well, seems 8 year old Aric got a little bit upset because HE wanted to go into the room with the counselor and "have a little talk". The counselor spoke up and said, "We'll perhaps we can just do that next time. We'll have to ask "Dad"." To which, Aric replied, "HIS NAME IS MARC". Gotta love these kids!!
