Friday night, March 12th, found 16 of us celebrating Benny's birthday at his favorite Mexican restaurant, Ricardo's.

It was a grand time of celebrating Benny's birthday and family and friends, plus some wonderful Mexican cuisine. We skipped the birthday cake and had miniature sopapilla's with powdered sugar for dessert.

HE GIVES US STRENGTH and oh so much more!!!

Yesterday was a L-O-N-G day, especially for Mickey. He went up to the church around 9 a.m. to help with sets, wiring, etc. for this weekends drama, CHOICES. He did come home for about an hour for lunch. I, and all the many others, arrived by 6 p.m. for practice and we did not get home until 11:30 p.m. We ran through the entire production twice.

By the time we got home I was too worked up to sleep!!!! Mickey is blessed to fall asleep the minute his head hits the pillow :o)

This morning it was up for our Bible study time and prayer, and to the church by 9 for The King's Kitchen. Fortunately, today being the 5th Tuesday in this month, Nancy, and her father, Bill, volunteered to do the cooking on this 5th week. They came in shortly after to prepare the meal with Sherry, Mickey & I assisting.

Kathy, who is part of one of the delivery teams and partners with Joi, was not able to be here today. I told her I'd be happy to step in and substitute for her. Oh, what a blessing that turned out to be for me today.

It was a further reminder, (as if I needed one!!!!!) that God always blesses us above and beyond what we hope or expect. I was just blessed, beyond measure, to get to participate in this side of the ministry of actually taking the meals into these 8 dear, wonderful shut-ins on this route. To see the smiles, hear the appreciations of thanks, and get to pray with them for their needs was a blessing I truly do not have words to express.

Thank you Lord for being not only a good and wonderful God, but giving us back so much more than we could ever give.

Please continue to pray with us for MANY souls to come to know Jesus as Lord & Savior during the 5 presentations of the CHOICES drama this Good-Friday Easter week-end.

MINISTRY

When Mickey started The King's Kitchen I had to bow out of my Tuesday 10-3 commitment to work at the Klothes Kloset each week but I still pitch in and help when I can on a special work day. Judy called for such on Monday 15th.

One thing for sure.......life is VERY interesting &...........around my house never dull!!!!

Actually, Mickey & I both strive to live calm, orderly, neat, organized lives. We are of the school, "Everything has a place, and a time, and everything in its place and time." But, "The well laid plans of mice and men often go astray" and nothing could be more true than this saying for us in this month of March, 2010!!!

Even today as I loaded the pictures for this post and endeavored to move the pictures to the proper spacing, as I do ALL the time on my computer. Guess what? They wouldn't move. So, next best step I was going to delete the first picture, which was out of order, and just use the one snow picture. Guess what? I can't delete it!!! Hence, two pictures of the back yard with snow.

After all that, NOW to the original plan of this post and an update on this most interest month.

On March 3rd, Mickey was busy planting 9 rose cuttings that our dear friends, Don & Barbara, had brought over to Mickey the night before. This is a picture of the front and side, along the trellis around part of our patio showing the finished produce of all planted and covered with quart canning jars. OH.....and the DUPLICATE out of place snow pictures!!!!

It was a good thing Mickey covered up the rose cuttings because THIS is what we had in our back yard the very next day.

Then my computer crashed but my sweet son, Marc, and new family came out Sunday the 7th to fix and reload information on said computer.

1- In the process I lost my entire e-mail address book. So if you haven't heard from me lately via the Valornet e-mail please drop me a note so I can add you to my NEW address book.

2- I can not yet load my pictures from my camera onto my computer, but we can on Mickey's so I have a mess with some pictures on this computer and some on the other.

3- I have a professional accounting system, from my years of accounting work, but when Marc got it loaded back it came up with mid 2008 as the last information!!!! Fortunately, I am one of these that does not trust the "paperless" approach of life that is being expounded and encouraged and therefore had hard copy figures as of 12-31-09!!!! Wheeeeee

4- #3 necessitated my having to rebuild the accounting information by starting from scratch with the 12-31-2009 figures and reposting January & February.

THIS is what a mess my desk was for several days during this process!!!!

As I've already posted I cracked my ceramic cook top in the wee hours of the morning March 16th. The new replacement, shown here on the kitchen table did not arrive until Wednesday, March 24th. Fortunately it came as a single, complete unit and was very easy for Mickey to install.

To say we hope April brings us back to our calm, orderly, neat, organized life is an understatement.

We are working hard, in the midst of this, on the production of the CHOICE'S drama that our church is putting on over Easter weekend. MOST of us connected with this upcoming drama have been experiencing a lot of upheaval and turmoil in our lives. Not surprising since we know satan does not want to see this drama presented and be successful. BUT we know "He who is within us" with see that it goes off just as HE intends it to.

I've also been asked to speak at a Woman's Day conference the woman's ministry is putting on April 24th on the subject of Quench Your Thrist. I think the Lord is supplying me with some much needed input and information......!!! Do you agree?

SOME CATCHING UP on The King's Kitchen

With my computer being out of service for a couple of weeks, and not having access to my picture files, I missed a very important occasion. The arrival of The King's Kitchen Oliver microwavable sealing machine.

Hence, for posterity, and our family records here are the pictures.

These arrived on Thursday, March 4th and we were able to use it for the delivery of our 5th week of Tuesday delivery on March 9th. Everything worked like a charm. We are blessed to have received enough donations to cover the cost and shipping of this wonderful machine. Thanks to all those at Coweta Assembly that are supporting this ministry and making it possible.

JUST IN CASE - say "I love you!"

Saw this and just have to share it because the message is so very important.

One day a woman's husband died, and on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of their bedroom, the wife was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't "anymore."

No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more "just one minute."

Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away, never to return before we can say good-by, say "I love you."

So while we have it, it's best we love it, care for it, fix it, when it's broken and heal it when it's sick.

This is true for marriage... and old cars, and children with bad report cards, and dogs with bad hips, family and aging parents and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it.....because we are worth it.

Some things we keep -- like a best friend who moved away or a sister-in-law after divorce. There are just some things that make us happy, no matter what.

Life is important. We only have one.

We only have one mom,. one dad, one unique brother or sister or friend.

Suppose one morning you never wake up.

I was thinking...I could die today, tomorrow or next week, and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed, friendships that needed rekindling or three words needing to be said.

Let everyone of your friends and family know you love them.

And just in case GOD calls me home ...

I have been so blessed of God that He has placed these "Iron Sharpening Friends" in my life, both on the the blog and in real life. INTO EVERY LIFE.........

This was not one of my best weeks to put it mildly.
So here is my SAD story :o(

The menu for The King's Kitchen this Tuesday was stew. We bought round steak, I very much dislike the packaged stew meats they sell. I decided we needed to be sure the meat itself was extra tender, since we are serving the elderly and shut-ins. SOOO Monday night when we met with the cooks to cut up the potato's, carrots, and all the ingredients for the fruit salad to go with the stew and cornbread I decided to bring home the meat to cut-up so I could cook it in my pressure cooker.

By the time we got home at 7:30 I was too tired to prepare it that night but Mickey helped me and we got it all cut-up in small bite size pieces and placed in the refrigerator.

Tuesday morning I arose at 3:30 (no big deal for me.....as most of you know I'm up at the hour a great deal of the time). Because there was so much meat to prepare I had to do it in two separate batches. I floured all the pieces, browned them in a skillet and placed them in my pressure cooker with beef broth. By 4:30 I was finished with the first batch. I took a small break and at 5 washed out my pressure cooker and began flouring and browning the second batch.

I KNEW BETTER - I TRULY DID so I can't even call it an accident!!! I failed to dry off the pressure cooker. When I placed it on the stove I heard it sizzle (from the water on the pan) and SHOULD (oh don't we love those SHOULD HAVE'S) immediately removed the pan but I did not. I turned the burner up to build up the steam and a few minutes later heard a loud POP. I knew instantly what had happened. My ceramic cooktop range was cracked.

Poor Mickey is sound asleep in bed at 5 a.m. when I burst through the bedroom door, waking him up, crying and telling him what I had just done. He is so sweet and just keeps reassuring me, "Honey, accidents just happen.". But, I know this was not an accident - it was stupidity!!!

So, this strong woman of faith !!!! begins to doubt with thoughts and words like this ......#1 "We'll

never be able to find a replacement top ". #2 "We'll have to buy a new self-cleaning, ceramic cooktop Kenmore range". I even went so far as to get on line and find out a replacement would run over $1,000 plus tax, etc. etc. I'm sure you get the picture.

So, to bring this far to long story to a close.....by mid-afternoon (after we finished up at the church preparing and delivering the meal and returned home about 1 p.m.) my dear husband not only located the part, in Atlanta, GA, but had the order placed and the new cook-top being shipped to us. The cost $249 plus shipping. Whee....much better than we, rather I, "feared".

I wish I had a picture to show you.....but the damage was just hair-line cracks that barely show and wouldn't show at all in a photo.

One of the woman at church last night said to me, "Isn't that just like the devil to attack you in the very area of ministry you step out in. You begin a feeding/cooking program and your cooktop gets ruined". Well, Mickey & I had, and have, already declared, "No attacks and no set-backs are stopping the work that God laid on Mickey's heart and that has been begun."

So after wavering in faith for a brief time, confessing and asking forgiveness of God for being "faithless" we are back on tract and the cook-top is somewhere between there and here.

Thank you Jesus for YOUR faithfulness!!

DESTINED FOR HELL - Book Review

I was recently given a box of books. At first I planned to pick out about 5 of them to read and put the remainder on the shelves of books in our ORC building for others to read. Then, I felt like the Holy Spirit was telling me to first read each and every one of them. I have been doing that.

DESTINED FOR HELL by Luis Torres

was NOT one of the books I would have kept to read if "I" had picked it. I'm so thankful that God lead me HIS way because His ways are always higher than my ways.

I just finished this book yesterday and as I started to add it to my side bar, under books I've read in 2010, I knew I had to stop and post about this book. First, I wept my way through this book from Chapter 11 through Chapter 16 and the Epilogue. I recently posted about being so moved by Dutch Sheets book, INTERCESSORY PRAYER. Reading that book has made me extremely more aware of the power we truly have in our prayers.

Evidence of that fact is so plainly stated in this book on page 84: "To say I was cool to toward the preacher from Teen Challenge is putting it mildly. As a matter of fact, the reception I gave him was frigid. I finally allowed him to pray for me just to get rid of him. HIS POWERFUL PRAYER HAUNTED ME DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. IT WAS UNLIKE ANY PRAYER I HAD EVER HEARD. IT WAS AN UNSETTLING PRAYER, I HAD NEVER HEARD ANYONE PRAY LIKE HE DID. ............JAY COLE PRAYED LOUD! (My caps for emphasis) It wasn't just the volume of the prayer that effected me though. There was a strange and mysterious magnetism that tugged at the long forgotten strings of my soul. Something about his prayer struck dread and hope into my heart at the same time. It's hard to explain, but I felt heaven's awesome presence when that tall, skinny man prayed."

The Lord has really been dealing with my heart lately about the devastation that drugs is having, not only here in our little town of Coweta, but literally around the world. We, THE BODY OF CHRIST, must break this destruction from our midst and the answer is BELIEVING PRAYER. I ask you to join me in just such focused prayer.

If you have anyone in your family, life, surroundings, etc. that is fighting this demon of drug addiction this little 128 page book, first printed in August, 1985, with forward by Nicky Cruz, is a must read. I am passing this book on to a mother who's son is currently dealing with this demon and praying vervently for not only this young man but a young woman who is also in chains to drug addiction.

I once dreamt that: something I didn't want to be true was true. But I knew it was true when I dreamt it. It was something the Lord showed me ahead of time.

COMPUTERS **!!%%**@@

You know you've been missed when even people you "know" and "see" in the flesh begin calling and saying, "Is everything alright with you two? You haven't posted for over a week."



So, a quick update. My computer, with all my pictures, all our accounting records, all the King's Kitchen forms and information, EVERYTHING is ------------ I don't even know what to say it is -------- the problem is, it isn't!!! My computer expert (Son, Marc with a new wife (yeah!!!) father of 5 very busy, VERY active pre-teens (3) and teens (2) and who not only himself, but Deann, have very busy, involved, demanding jobs and are in the midst of redecorating Marc's home they just moved out of) is currently unavailable to get to our house to check said computer out.

Thank goodness we have Mickey's computer which is working. Thanks to Ginger, who last evening told me how to get back onto face book, that helps. I still do not know how to access our valornet or gmail e-mail accounts. If anyone can tell me the secret to that I would appreciate it. When I type in my gmail account it only leads me to a link about bloglines and I don't use bloglines. When I type in our valornet account it gives me some very old references to comments I've made on older blogs asking them to e-mail me. About the time I'm thinking I'm making my way pretty well around all this technology STUFF I find out, take away my "set-up" and my little "icons" and I know nothing!!!!


Beyond the computer issues.......We find ourselves VERY busy. I'm sure any who follow me do not find that surprising!!!


For a quick update:
The King's Kitchen is going fabulously. We got the wonderful sealing machine and 3 compartment microwavable trays and film in last Thursday (March 4th). Spent time getting it set-up and tested. We used it for the first time yesterday and it went well. Mickey & I were at the church Monday night from 7 to 9 with the 2nd week cooking team. Then of course yesterday, Tuesday, we were there from 9 to 12:30 getting the meal ready, packed, out the door and waiting for the delivery teams to return. We had 2 of the delivery people who did not show-up so Mickey and our Jr. High Youth Pastor ran one of the routes.


Klothes Kloset update. As you know, when Mickey began The King's Kitchen I stepped down from my Tuesday 10 to 2 position of working in the Klothes Kloset. Well, this ministry has been so blessed with donated items, and to date not enough workers, that Judy cancelled the Monday morning Bible Study and 5 of us, plus I talked Mickey into joining us, we needed all the help we could get and a strong man!!!, went to the church to sort through clothes and get the storage room somewhat cleared out. The 6 of us worked from 9 to 11:30 and it was unbelievable how much we got accomplished. Many hands truly do make work light and I've always said about this Bible Study group of women, we work together like a well oiled machine and we work hard.


On Saturday, February 27th, 4 of us (myself, Sandra, Carmel & Vanessa) went to a Billye Brim prayer meeting at the ORU chapel from 10 to noon. This is in connection with Empowered21 conference that will be held at ORU in April. We met up with 2 others, Debbie & Tammy, and the 6 of us had a lovely lunch at Pan*era Br*ead afterward. While I was doing this Mickey went to the lake with our daughter, Suzette, and son-in-love, Dave, to look at their ponton boat.

That evening at 7 p.m. Vanessa and her team had the Official Dedication of the Remnant House of Prayer here in Coweta. It was wonderful. Vanessa, Jeff, Nate & Angie have done a wonderful and beautiful job setting up this facility and been so faithful in pursuing and fulfilling the call of God on their lives. The biggest blessing was seeing, and hearing, 4 of the local pastors participate in this city wide vision for 24/7 prayer. Of course our beloved Pastor Gary, who is Vanessa's Spiritual Father, was the last speaker. The 27th was Purim!!!! How neat is that.


Our church, Coweta Assembly, is beginning to experience true revival. It is SOOO exciting to see what many of us have been praying for coming to pass. We are seeing people saved in each and every service and many new ministries taking place. Last Sunday MANY were filled with the Holy Spirit and people were going down to the altar during Praise & Worship. Yes, God is truly moving in our body.


I can't even remember if I've posted that one of these new ministries is a GED class every Sunday evening. I am helping in that area as a mentor. So exciting to see 8 of these young adults taking this big step to improve their lives by studying to pass the GED test.


My friend, Sandra, has started a Prayer Shaw ministry. Read about it here. It is so exciting!!! Sandra has already completed 2 of these shaws that have been given to woman in our congregation who need healing. I bought myself a set of the looms (Mickey & I had to go to 4 Wa*lly Wor*lds before we found them!) She showed me how to start it after we returned to my house on the 27h after our outing. I had done about 5" on mine and suddenly realized I was making a tube!!! Going round & round instead of getting to the end and reversing directions!!!! So I had a "lesson" in ripping out and starting over. Grrrrrr As always, I asked the Lord what He was trying to teach me in this.....and the message I got was to take a little more time and be sure of what I was doing before I plunge so head-long into a new project. Do you think?????
I started over last Saturday, March 6th, and took it to Tuesday night Bible Study to show Sandra and be sure I have it correct this time. I currently have about 6" done.

Last Sunday our latest new ministry was begun. It is an ESL class. English as a Second Language. We have a young bi-lingual man who just recently started attending who is teaching this class. We are excited about this new class and reaching out to the Hispanic community of our area.

Last, but certainly not least, Bobby, our Praise & Worship Minister, is putting on a Drama Easter week-end. It consists of the opening, 5 individual scenes, and an ending. The name is "CHOICES". I was privileged to write one of the scenes myself, and then another gal, Kelli, and I wrote another scene together. I have been selected to act a part in another scene. We are currently practicing every Thursday evening. The Performances will be Good Friday, April 2nd at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 3rd at 6 p.m. & Easter Sunday, April 4th at the 10:45 a.m. & 6 p.m. services. Mickey is going to help build the sets. It is a BIG project and we are very excited about it. Bobby is amazing and oh so talented in this area of drama and worship.

The Good Friday showing is a city-wide program with all the Churches participating. The various ministers of different denominations will be participating and will be assigned different rooms for after service counseling. The people making decisions can visit with the minister of the church of their preference. In all that Coweta Assembly does the motive is not to build the attendance of CA but to increase the Kingdom of God and the ministry of ALL the churches.
I ask you to join us in prayer that God will use this mightily. Anyone who reads this blog, and lives anywhere in the Tulsa-Coweta-Wagoner area is invited and encouraged to attend.

Today is another busy day for us. Mickey & I and Tammy are attending a Food Handlers class at 9 this morning at the Coweta Health Department and this afternoon at 3:30 Kathy & Valerie will be attending. Then Mickey & I are going by Lo*wes and getting some kind of quick-set concrete mixture and going to Marc's Tulsa home and Mickey is making a minor repair on the sliding glass door area. Then as always we'll be picking up Aric, making our weekly Wednesday trip to "R" gym at Mc*d's then bring Aric home to attend Royal Rangers at CA, and spend the night with us. Thursday morning we are up early and out of the house by 6:45 a.m. to make a stop at the doughnut shop on our way to taking him to Tulsa for school by 7:35. We know, at the age of 11, we won't have too many more years of this kind of time with him and we cherish each and every minute of it.

Tomorrow night, drama practice. Friday night celebrating Benny's Birthday. A week ago Wednesday we managed to take daughter, Jacque, out to lunch before picking up Aric & Oksana from school.

Our lives are busy, and blessed and we are very happy. GOD IS GOOD!!!

I am going to take off the monitoring from the comments and hope I don't get covered up with all the garbage I've been getting. If you see some "deletes" in the comment section of this post that will be the reason.

6. Describe March weather where you live in three words. Pleasant and transitioning into wonderful Spring. (Oops 6 not 3 - See #3 above!!!)

KING'S KITCHEN UPDATE -

The King's Kitchen is in full swing and it has been a wonderful, exciting and fulfilling start as we finish up our 4th week. The fact so many people have volunteered to be those helping hands is the biggest joy and blessing of all.

We have 4 groups of cooks. Each group consists of 3 people and they are assigned one week of the month to cook. Since most of our cooks hold down full time jobs we have 3 groups that prepare the main dish on Monday evenings. The 1st week group chooses to cook at 5 p.m, the 2nd week group cooks come at 6 p.m. and the 3rd week group comes at 7 p.m. The 4th group cook on Tuesday morning. Mickey & I show up at the assigned times each week on both Monday & Tuesday.

This group is assigned week 1 each month, but since we didn't serve our first meal until the 2nd week of February last night was their first week of cooking duty.

5 p.m. they have arrived and get right to work .

Frankie peeling potato's & Athena cutting them and placing in the cooking pot. Both of these girls fussed at me about their hair do's and me taking pictures but hey, we came to work, not look pretty. Work they did and pretty to the core they are!!!

Frankie, Athena, Jamie & Kelli. Jamie is one of our Bridge Builder kids and she came to help and put all the biscuits on the baking sheets for us. See the pans of individual meat loafs ready to go into the walk in frig to be cooked and served the next day.

These gals had the best time and were fast. They were completely finished, including clean-up by 6 p.m. They decided they needed a name for their team and choose the name: Mickey's Angels!!!!


Robbin, from Young At Heart, brought 5, yes 5!!!, pies she made. Chocolate, Coconut Cream & Banana Cream. This is the banana. I failed to get pictures of the other two or of Robbin :o(

~Tuesday morning~

Sherry, Mickey & I arrive at 9 a.m.

This is Sherry and she is the main stay of this operation. She is here every Tuesday and some Monday nights. She does ALL the menu planning and all the shopping. Sherry is a gift from heaven to The King's Kitchen.

Here's the other main stay - Mickey placing the boxes containing the slice of pie in sacks that also hold the 1% milk this week.


The completed meal for this week: Individual meat loaves, mashed potato, & cooked carrots. Also, a hot biscuit and butter, a slice of pie and 1% milk carton. The aroma of this meatloaf cooking was bringing people into the kitchen saying, "What smells so good?"

I select a bible verse that we attach to the entree box lid. I change the verse every other week. Misty, the church secretary makes the labels for us.

Cathi & Joi. These two gals do double duty. Cathi comes at 10 each Tuesday to help Sherry, Mickey & I with the cooking and final assembly. Cathi & Joi are one of the delivery teams and Joi helps cook on the 4th Tuesday each week.

Thanks to the Lord for HIS help each week in putting it all together, but thanks to ALL these who are such great and willing helpers. We prepared and delivered to 29 people this week.

In addition to the meals this week we had birthday cards for two of the recipients who had birthdays. One man turned 90 and one woman didn't give us her birth year :o)

Hats off to everyone who is making the King's Kitchen a huge success.
