"D" is for .........DAILY and many more

Another letter for Alphabet in August over at Chiot's Run.

DAILY - Being a very DISCIPLINED person I have many things I do on a DAILY basis.  Of course a lot of these fall into the category of household chores and regular health & cleanliness routine, but also on my list are:(1) each morning my husband and I having a time of DAILY devotional readings - reading through the Bible together & reading an additional Spiritual related book and then praying together.  I love to read, and my Mickey is not a big reader, so we began the DAILY habit of me reading to him each morning many years ago.  Recently, I have added a DAILY walk as soon as I get out of bed each morning right at day break. This is my 33rd consecutive DAY to do this and I intend to be DISIPLINED enough to continue it.  I have always been thankful that the Lord divided time into DAY'S and I attempt to live in what I call DAY tight compartments, living each DAY and each DAY only, forgetting yesterday and not worrying about tomorrow.

DEVOTED - I am a very DEVOTED person.  First, DEVOTED to God, then to my husband, to my children and grandchildren, to my Church and my Church body.  Along with this I would use the word DEDICATED because to me these to words go togehter.  In fact each word is a definition of the other!!

DUBIOUS - I am not easily taken in by falsehood or DECEPTION and attempt to see the truth in things.

DUTY - I have a high sense of DUTY to preform well to any and all commitments or DUTIES that I have accepted responsibility for. 

DELIBERATE - I am very deliberate in all I do and say.  Doing things on purpose and not haphazardly.  I do not fit into the DELIBERATE definition of slow and unhurried though!!! 

DISCUSS - I love to DISCUSS various things either in writing or in conversation.  I love to exchange views through DISCUSSION.  I do not like, and walk away from, DEBATING things though because DEBATING borders too much on arguing and I do not like to argue.

DISORDER - I do not like DISORDER, either in sound or in  appearance of things.

DELICIOUS - I love to eat!!!  Enough said? !

DELICATE - I love pretty DELICATE things but I am in no way DELICATE in either appearance or emotion.

HIS TAPESTRY - GOD'S WAYS AND PLANS and not our own

As most of you know our beloved, beautiful, vivacious, wonderful daughter, Suzette, lost her 7 1/2 month l-o-n-g battle with cancer on May 19th at 11:30 p.m. and went to Heaven to be with her Lord & Savior. 

We read the quote below on Sunday morning, May 22nd, two days before her memorial service on May 24th.  It spoke so to our hearts but it has taken me until now to be able to blog this.  

"If you are going through a time of isolation, seemingly all alone, read John 17. It will explain exactly why you are where you are - because Jesus has prayed that you "may be one" with the Father as He is. ... God is not concerned about our plans; He doesn't ask, "Do you want to go through this loss of a loved one, this difficulty, or this defeat?" No, He allows these things for His own purpose. The things we are going through are either making us sweeter, better, and nobler men and women, or they are making us more critical and fault-finding, and more insistent on our own way." My Utmost for His Highest ~ Oswald Chambers - May 22, 2011.

Above everything or anything in life I trust my Lord & Savior and my wonderful Triune God.  I am glad He gave me this reminder in the midst of the worst 5 days of our lives. 

Yes, Jesus prayer is that we "may be one" with the Father and God IS going to see that prayer fulfilled.  And NO, He does not ask, or even want, our opinion but He will and does allow things for HIS plans & purposes. 

I have, for a lot of years, viewed my life as a tapestry that The Lord is weaving.  When I look at it from my view point (the earthly side) I often see nothings but a big mess of knots, threads running askew with no rhyme or reason, and certainly nothing beautiful or very desirous to see.

 But I trust Him because He is the master weaver and weaves only beautiful tapestries and it is He who is weaving my story (and yours too, if are His).

I deliberately picked a very simple design because I know He has much to add before He is finished with me!!

Yes, the things I go through are making me sweeter, better and more noble IF I will but remain in His pliable hands and not rebel against the potters wheel or the burning fire, which ever means He chooses to use in creating my tapestry.

The things we are going through are either making us sweeter, better, and nobler men and women, or they are making us more critical and fault-finding, and more insistent on our own way."

I have, do and will continue to trust you - God - Jesus - Holy Spirit!

CELEBRATING MARC'S 42ND

Marc's birthday was August 2nd.  The 2nd was on a Tuesday and our church has been on a church wide fast from April until Thanksgiving this year with 1 or more people fasting and praying each day.  Mickey & I signed up for June 22nd, the BD of #1 son, David, and August 2nd, the BD of youngest son, Marc.  Sp we went to a nice steak house last night, Friday, to celebrate this special occasion.

Missing of course were #1 sister, Suzette, in Heaven, and #1 brother, David, in California.   We ALL miss Suzette so much but know she was with us in Spirit. 

"C" is for __________________

My third day of Alphabet in August participation is the letter "C".

CUDDLING - My husband and I love to cuddle

COPING - I have high coping skills and can, and do, cope with almost any situation I find myself in or have had to deal with in life.

CURT - I can be very curt and to the point with my response at times.  Especially is I am overly tired.

CONSISTENT - I am very consistent about most everything and especially as it relates to my beliefs on given subjects such as faith, family or politics.

CARING - I am a caring person and take great care in showing my appreciation, affection or concern for people.

CAPABLE - I am a fairly capable person about accomplishing and doing most things EXCEPT where electronics of any kind are concerned.

COZY - I like to consider our home and life style cozy and relaxaing and want anyone who come to our home to feel at easy and cozy.

CALCULATING - This word comes to my mind, not in a negative sense because I do not think I am that, but I am always calculating cost of things, expenses, quanities, etc.  Anything relating to figures or figuring.

CELEBRATE - I love to celebrate and can make a big deal out of most anything and make it an occasion to celebrate.  As a family, and with our close friends, we are always celebrating some occasion.  Just this week we celebrated our youngest son, Marc's, 42nd birthday on August 2nd by going to dinner at a nice steak house.

CHEERFUL - I am a cheerful, happy person and always able to see the glass 1/2 full.

CHILDREN - Next to my Lord and husband my 4 children and 3 grandchildren are the joy and center of my life.

CHRISTMAS - I love Christmas!!!  Not only is it the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus but it is also my birthday so it is double special to me and at our house.

CHERISH - I cherish gifts that have been given to me by special people, memories of fun times and places, my church family, my friends, my family, and all the wonderful cyber friends I have made through this blogging experience.

CANCER - I HATE this disease that stole our precious Suzette from us.  I have sworn the devil is going to be so sorry he ever did that to us and this family as I will spend every day of my life standing against him and this evil tool of his.  I will also pray every day of my remaining life for a cure to this evil disease that takes over and consumes the body and kills.

CHEMO THERAPY - I know this helps some people but I hate it almost as much as cancer because of the toll it takes on the people who are subjected to it. 

CONSUMED - I am consumed with my fight against cancer and chemo!!!!!! 

Sorry to end on such a sad not, but I could not do "C" and not include these.

'B' is for BIBLE

Continuing to play Alphabet in August.

"B" is, and has to be, BIBLE -

it is the core and foundation of my life and existence.  So much so that when I began blogging I selected it as my header.  I think in King James, because that is the Bible I used when I first began to memorize scripture, but I love various translations of the Bible and  currently own:  The large table size KJV Bible you see pictured above - New American Standard - Phillips New Testament in Modern English - Marked Reference KJV - Scoffield KJV - The Message - Amplified Bible - Narrated Bible in Chronological Order - Parallel Bible NIV/KJV & last but not least Franklin compact battery KJV.  I even have this Child's Bible and Pray Book (2 1/2" long by 1 3/4" wide and 124 pages) that was given to me in 1942 by my Sunday School teacher. 

My very favorite Bible, and truly my most cherished possession, is my leather bound KJV Bible that Mickey gave me on our first anniversary, October 4, 1959.  The pages are almost tissue thin in  places - I have notes written, or taped in the front and back blank pages - it is underscored, highlighted and notes written on many of its pages.  I wore out the original cover and we had it rebound in May, 1979.  It is a rather small bible (5 1/4" wide & 7 3/4" long) and it is the one I still take to Church with me.

This became so long and involved I'm not adding anymore "B" words here.

ALPHABET IN AUGUST - A

 I just saw this on my friend Tracy's blog and thought it would be fun to hook-up with this Alphabet in August group which is hosted by Chiot's Run.

ACTIVE - I have always been very active and still am at 73 years of age.  I recently began walking daily and this morning begins my 5th week, or 29th straight day, of walking.  I gradually built my walk time up from .4 mile to .95 mile in 16 minutes.  I thought I was walking a mile by my husband measuring it with his pick-up but when we bought a pedometer last week I discovered it was only the .95 mile.  I am going to keep adding on to that as I am able.  

AFFECTIONATE - We are a very affectionate family.  My husband and I hold hands a lot - while sitting on the couch - at church - or walking in the mall, etc.  We always hugs our grown children each and every time we see them (even though my sons tower over us both in size and height!) and tell each other we love them.  

AVAILABLE - We try and make ourselves available to our church, our friends, & our kids.  I hold a Tuesday night Bible Study/Prayer Group each week in our home.  We call ourselves Women of the Word or WOW Woman for short.  My husband began a ministry called The King's Kitchen where we feed shut-in's in our community once a week.  I'll share more about that when I get to "K"!!  I was asked 2 weeks ago if I would teach the Sunday morning Adult Small Group Class for the coming 2 weeks so I made myself "available" and said "yes".

ACCOMPLISHED - I firmly hold to the premise that anything worth doing is worth doing well so it brings Glory to God.  Therefore, I attempt to accomplish all tasks, goals, chores, duties, projects, responsibilities, etc. to the very best of my ability.  

AMBITIOUS - Ties in with accomplish - to put forth great effort to accomplish my goals. 

SPIRITUAL SUNDAY & A MUST READ - Books 9 & 10

I have not participated in Spiritual Sunday since December of last year so this group of followers is not aware that our beloved daughter, Suzette, lost her 7 1/2 month battle with cancer and went to be with her Lord on May 19th.

The following book "not a fan" has had such an impact on our lives and is such an important book that I wanted to do this post for Spiritual Sunday.  I trust each and every one of you will get and read this book.

If you are a serious reader and, more importantly you are serious about following JESUS and truly making Him LORD of your life, you must read "not a fan" by Kyle Idleman.

This book will shake you out of complacency and make you realize that we have never really sacrificed for our Lord Jesus Christ and that it is time to do so.  At least that is what it has done for me.

It was recommended to me by a young man at church, Kent, who helps us in The King's Kitchen ministry.  He was going to loan me his book, but just his sharing a little bit about it with me made me tell him, "No, I want to buy my own copy because I know this is a book I am going to want to own and read over and over again."

I wept as I read parts of it.  It is good from the first words and chapter but the last three chapters:  Where ever - When ever & What ever are just ........ I'm struggling for words ......... because I can't even find the words except to say:  READ IT!!!

From the Sticker Patch is a lovely book that was written by a fellow Northeastern Oklahoma, Shari England.  Shari is on fb and I friended her when she was recommended by one of my church friends, Jeanne, who also helps us in The King's Kitchen and also attends the Tuesday night Bible Study in my home, WOW Women.

In May Jeanne presented me with a gift of a signed copy!!! 

 Shari writes 63 short devotionals that are easy reading and each has a wonderful lesson for us.  I read, and was blessed, by one of these devotionals on a daily basis.  

    

Again, I cannot encourage you enough to read "not a fan".  If you do so please let me know and let me know the impact it has on you.
