SHOW & TELL #17 - Counted Cross Stitch

My goodness.....here it is Friday again and time for Show & Tell at Kelli's, There Is No Place Like Home. Isn't this fun? I love seeing what everyone shows each week. What a great, wonderful idea you host, Kelli. Thank YOU!! If you're new go over to Kelli's site and find out all about it and the guidelines. Pick a Show & Tell and post it and then go back to Kelli's again and sign up on Mr. Linky. It's that easy!!

My Show & Tell for this week are two Precious Moments counted cross stitch pieces I did in the 1980's.

This first one hangs in our main bathroom and says, "No tears past the gate."

This one I did for my husband and says "My love will never let you go." It hangs over his dresser in our bedroom.

I hope you enjoyed viewing a couple of my counted cross stitch work.

Now it's time for me to go and visit all your Show & Tell's.
Have a great Friday

Wow, I have a friend who does cross stitch crib blankets for families in crisis...and the work has ALWAYS fascinated me. It astounds me that so much work is involved...and they come out so perfect each time!! I'm really envious of your talent.

Mine's shared

Susan I LOVE Precious Moments! I started the "No Tears Past the Gate" one years ago, but then I kept having kids so didn't finish it! LOL I made a Precious Moments cross stitch for a friend of mine too and one for my aunt. I love cross stitch.

Susan,
I'm a precious moments collector, and a cross stitcher, so I loved this. MANY hours went into those, I know!

I would be way proud of those cross stitch treasures. I am just not able to do that kind of work. Never turns out correctly...So I just really admire that kind of work.

Take care,
Connie

Susan,
I like both the cross stitch pieces...both are such good thoughts....

After doing my Show and Tell in the wee hours of the morning, I remembered something else I wanted to add....if you have time to return....Betty

I strated teaching the girlies to cross stitch this week. Silly-Head took one look at the simple butterfly pattern (large aida cloth, simple pattern for children) and immediately told me all the colors she wanted to change!

My mom used to cross stitch all the time when I was little, and her favorites were the Precious Moments scenes.
Brings back memories.

I love the cross stitch. I used to do that until I had kids. I even made my friend a baby blanket for the crib and had Craig's grandma turn it into a comfortor for me. Love it!

Beautiful work. I was a teenager in the 80's and I remember both x-stitching a lot and all the Precious Moments things in everyone's homes! I never was patient enough with the xstitch to make it beautiful back and front... it looks like you were (are)! Thanks for sharing.

I love Precious Moments! I have done some counted cross stitch, but it has been awhile. Yours are lovely!

How wonderful and precious indeed, Susan!

Do you still do cross stitching nowadays?

I did some pieces a couple of years ago but ... oh, I don't dare to say it... I sold them on our yard sale last year because I did not like them anymore!

It's raining over here, I just came back from the office! My wish for some sunshine this week-end won't come true!

Best wishes, Anita

Very pretty and neat work you've done on these! That's a lot of counting!! My eyes won't allow me to work on my cross-stitch much these days. I miss it!

I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch years ago. Those are cute as can be Susan.

They are beautiful - precious moments and cross stitch are a perfect combination. I did some back when we were first married - but it is too hard to keep my place with the little ones around, so I've taken up knitting. I don't really have time for that, but at least I can pick it up and work on it without have to count!! lol

Have a wonderful weekend Susan!

Those are really cute. I used to cross stitch some of those patterns back in the 80s, too, but I got out of the habit. I collect the figurines and actually have the little boy holding the fish. It's very cute.

Susan, I have a collection of the figurines and I cross stitched until my fingers about fell off. I loved it! I made many, many gifts and am sad to say that I do not have one single piece in my own house to show my handy work. Oh well, I'm glad I blessed others with my craft.
I still have all of my figurines downstairs in a cabinet. I hope to take up knitting this fall. I think I'm going to take a class so I can learn how to make a baby blanket....just in case :)

I've always loved Precious Moments, I have seven figurines. I never did the cross-stitch, but my daughter did it for me! She was only ten or twelve and I would pay her to do the ones I wanted! She was very good at it!

I can't sew, but I love to do counted cross-stitching! I have mine packed, but when I unpack them, there is one I definitely would like to share. I made it for my oldest daughter...while I was pregnant with her actually. I started one for my son, but never finished it, we were moving(at the time-9yo ago) and it got lost in the shuffle, but when I unpack this time, I hope to fing it...and finish it.

Lovely job!!

God Bless,
Amber

Sandy what a lovely show & tell.

Precious mements are just that "precious moments" that we remember, like child holding your hand, or a father watching over his child.......yes a lovely post as always you touch our hearts with your posts.
