SHOW & TELL #32 - Partridge Wall Hanging

Show & Tell time again over at Kelli's. Go and check it out here.

My Show & Tell for today is this Partridge In a Pear Tree walling hanging.
It is quite large, measuring 4'9" tall by 3' wide.
I made this piece in 1965 - That would make it 42 years old!!
It was a pattern I saw in a Woman's Day Magazine.
The background is blue canvas. You can see the blue color has faded over the years.
The other piece are felt and of course the tassels and partridge tail are yarn.
That year I made this Partridge for myself and one for my sister Marion.
I also made two other similar, but smaller wall hangings of a Reindeer for my mother and mother-in-love.
Boy, looking back I am amazed at all I got accomplished in those years.
This hanging has hung in our home EVERY Christmas.
My daughter, Suzette, now has the Reindeer that belonged to my mother.
Jacque has already put in her "dibs" for this one!!! She'll get it!!
===========
Trust everyone had a wonderful and BLESSED CHRISTMAS
WE DID!!!
We celebrated ours Christmas Eve, our family tradition, with a BIG turkey dinner with all the fixings that Mickey & I prepared.
We bought only for the grand kids this year and then drew names for the adults.
It was really nice not to be so gift centered!!
Jacque drew my name and gave me a lovely pair of black slacks and a 2 piece, pink Cardigan sweater set. Lovely and fit perfectly.
Bennie drew Mickey's name and gave him a HoMedics back vibrator that fits, upper and lower, into a chair. Everyone took turns trying it out!!!!
==========
Christmas morning Suzette and Dave had us all over to their home for Christmas Brunch and to celebrate my 70th Birthday.
This had been planned for weeks but I was only informed Christmas Eve so it was a delightful surprise :o)

I got two of those lovely Mom birthday cards that touch your heart and make you cry, which I did!!!! It's a joke in our family that I always cry over the sweet cards that my kids give to me. I mean, those big cries where you look so ugly!!!

THEN Suzette, Jacque & Marc presented me with a new Brighton Purse.
Can I say, YEAH!!!!
I have a very old one that I have used for about 9 years now.
==========
For those of you that wonder.......it "ain't" bad being 70!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday! You are an amazing woman! I have two very dear friends who are 70. Although I'm a bit younger, my "elder" friends are full of fun and the joy of the Lord, and are some of the most precious people in my life. Wishing you many happy returns of the day.

Dear Susan,

We learnt that (British? American?) Christmas song at school and I still remember the lyrics "... a partidge in a pear trea....".

I am glad to learn that you had a very merry Christmas - and even a surprise bithday party!

I am so sorry to hear that MY little surprise did not yet arrive. But I cross my fingers, you know, Santa was very busy during the past few weeks before Christmas. Please let me have a short note as soon as you get it! And thanks a lot for your last mail, I'll answer it very soon!

Warm wishes, Anita

Happy Birthday, Susan!!! Both my in-laws reached 69 within a week of Christmas and my mom will also be 69 in early January. We made my MIL laugh with her card. I just can't make myself buy sappy ones, even if it IS how I feel sometimes.

Glad you have such a nice Christmas and birthday! You are a sweetie!

Who knew...I thought you were turning 69. You are one amazing 70 year old!

Your holiday sounds grand being together as a family.

My mom loves cards, too. She keeps them forever and sets them out years later because they meant so much to her. She sends tons of cards to people as well.

And no one vlogged you for the opening of the cards!?!?! heehee I know you are just loving me for that statement, huh?

It sounds like you got some lovely things and had a wonderful celebration.

Still wish I could have come and sang on your doorstep! I did hear that you had some visiters stop by and sing though! :-D

Ruth suggested that I stop by your blog. My husband is an associate pastor of music at our church. I'm new to blogging. I have another photo devotional page at

http://myra.lifewithChrist.org

Please stop by either page any time! I need some blogging buddies!

Happy Birthday! I didn't know you were a Christmas baby! So was my grandmother (born on the 25th) she had the most special, loving personality, bet you do too!

I love the partridge in a pear tree you made! Did you read about the 12 days of Christmas meaning on my blog? The partridge and tree are very meaningful!

Katherine

Sorry to be late with my comment, we just returned.
