SHOW & TELL #17 - This & That

I am so happy to be able to participate in Show & Tell this week. I've missed the past two weeks due to my knee surgery. Got to Kelli's and sign up on Mr. Linky after you've written your Show & Tell post and join the fun.

I want to show my lovely Mother's Day gifts.

(enlarge all photos by clicking)

My daughter, Jacque, gave me this lovely flower pot she had purchased for me during her recent trip to Florida. The words on the pot "If I had a flower for each time I thought of my mother, I could walk in my garden forever. Unknown" It had 3 lovely Celosia plants in it.

As you can see the pot is pictured with only the lovely red Celosia in it. The reason for this is they grow to be quite big. My other daughter, Suzette, gave me an entire flat of three variety of bedding plants: Celosia, Lobelia, andMarigolds. When Mickey planted the flowers in the flower beds we took 2 of the Celosia out of the pot and added with the many from Suzette to plant outside.

This is my gift from our youngest son, Marc. The picture did not turn out well because it is actually a mirror with two hearts on it, one at the top and a smaller one at the bottom. The words read: " Mom, May today you know a blessing...for you have blessed me in so many ways! 'Now these three remain, faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.' 1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV

I have such great kids!!!!! Can you tell they know I love "words"!!!!

This is an 11 1/2 year old Christmas Coca-Cola set. If you enlarge the photo you can see the 1996 date in the right hand corner.

What is so special about these is I just received them last week!!! One of our neighbors, Wayne, brought them to me. He and his wife are cleaning out and down sizing and they had 2 of these sets and he brought it down to see if I'd like to have them. You bet!!! Thanks!!!

This is our first crop from Mickey's strawberry patch he planted last year. 10 berries.....hey, it was enough to add to our fruit salad last night for dinner and make it extra special and very tasty!!

This is a tiny little Woody Woodpecker that flew into our French door late last evening and was sitting there stunned. We could tell he wasn't hurt badly and decided it was a good time to get his picture. Mickey tried to open the door for a second, better shot and he immediately flew away. Isn't he precious?

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share this hodge-podge of blessings. I've really missed Show & Tell and glad to be back.

I wondered where you have been? It sounds like you're recovering from your knee surgery, glad to hear that!

I loved the variety of things you shared today! Don't you love getting plants rather than fresh cut flowers? Last Mom's Day, my oldest had a mini rose bush delivered that bloomed right before Mom's Day this year!

Yummy berries, I am jealous! When I was visiting with Meine Mutti on Wed, she told me how once when they wer sitting in their kitchen with the window open as well as their front door, a hummingbird must've thought it was a straight shot through their house. He got his beak caught in the screen and was stuck for a few seconds before working it free! Ha Ha!

You have thoughtful children. I do like the colors on that painted flower pot.

I wrote on my blog this week about the goldfinches that keep pecking at our window. Your little woodpecker has some buddies over at my house. ;^)

I've entered you in the drawing for the book I'm giving away on my Field Lilies blog. Thanks for visiting.

Hi Susan,
When you mentioned your knee surgery, I had to go back and reread your posts. I don't know how I missed that and feel so terrible. I always try to offer a prayer for those times of special needs.
I'm so happy to hear that you came through it well and are on the mend.
Loved your show and tell. Mickey is 9 ahead on the strawberry count from us! We only have 1 and are trying to keep the squirrels away from it..

What wonderful gifts you received from your kids!

I discovered today that we have strawberries coming on our in our yard - we had some years ago, but they died out. Looks like they have come back voluntarily somehow. I hope we get some berries before the bird do!

I hope you have a smooth recovery from your surgery. I'm sure you are going to be so pleased with the results. Nice gifts. I've had birds fly into our windows at times and found them lying on the ground or deck. You had a "lucky" little bird-cute.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope your knee surgery went well. I had knee replacement at 55 and it has been great. Took about 2 years though before I felt that way. Hope you have a great week.

Like you I love it when my kids, grandkids and great grandkids say or give loving words. These are the gifts that take root in our heart.
Your flower pot is so sweet and your berries look good enough to eat! LOL
My strawberries are covered in blossoms right now. I have to get net over them to keep the birds out before the berries form.

Blessings Susan.
