SHOW & tELL #8 - Fabric Give-A-Way

I always love sharing on Friday in Show 'N Tell sponsored by Kelli. It is always fun to select something to show and share and then the double treat of getting to visit all the other blogs who are also participating. If you haven't participated yet you must....you will be blessed and be a blessing. Go here to participate and sign-up on Mr. Linky.

Today I am Showing, Telling & Giving Away!!

Over the years I have done a LOT of sewing. When my daughters were young I made a lot of their dresses, plus a lot of my own. My mother was a great seamstress and I learned most of my sewing skills first hand from her. I did take one Sewing Class in Junior High School where we made an apron!!!!

I loved going to the Fabric Store and picking out a new pattern to make, and then selecting just the right fabric for it. My sewing skills were limited to clothing and some curtains, place mats, etc. I never got into tailoring or doing any fancy gowns. Most of my sewing was for us gals, although I did do a few items for my husband & sons. When I was p.g. with our last child I made ALL my maternity outfits (we didn't wear pants in those days!!!).

That's my TELL

about my past sewing skills. At this point in my life I no longer do any sewing. In cleaning out "stuff" for my garage sale last week-end I discovered a box of fabric I had put back and forgotten about. I thought it would be fun to have a drawing here on Show & Tell to give it to one of my Blogland friends who sews and could use a little stash of fabric.

Here is my SHOW

Eight different pieces of fabric ranging in sizes of 3/4 yard, 1 1/2 yards, . 2 1/2 yard, 3 yards & 3 1/2 yards. Most are cotton but there is one satin and one upholstery fabric.

Here is my GIVE-AWAY

SO.... if you sew and could use some extra fabric please let me know by telling me in your comment that you would like to be entered in my drawing for this fabric. I will draw the winning name on Monday, June 1st and announce the winner in a post that day.

Oh, and by the way, even if you are not interested in the fabric drawing please don't forget to leave me a comment. You know how we love to read comments about our posts.

How nice of you to share your fabrics with someone who can use them now. This reminds me of my own stash which I need to review.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I used to sew some but not anymore. Too many other interests--blogging, digital scrapbooking, traveling, etc.

I'm impressed with your skill! I tried to do some sewing for my kids when they were young, but it all looked like I made it! So don't enter me in the drawing - but I had fun looking!

I'd love to be added to the giveaway hopefuls. I just made myself an apron and a skirt in the last month. My oldest is starting to take an interst in sewing. I actually called about a beginning sewing camp for kids just this morning. She is making hedgehogs right now. We're working on its shape. the first one we called "Experimental Hedgie"

I truly enjoyed your show and tell.
I do not sew anymore. I was never really that good at it. I remember my first project in high school was an apron also. I hated to do anything with zippers.LOL
God bless

I am in your camp--a used to be seamstress with more scrap material than I need for the grandkids' craft projects. Sounds like you found one or two takers.

What a nice stash of fabric... and what a lovely, generous idea to give some of it away!

Don't enter me in the drawing... I have way too much fabric already, and not enough time to sew!

Thanks for stopping by my kitchen table, too!

God bless,
Mrs.t

I have never won anything in three years of blogging. I seem to be more the one who gives stuff away:)

But this is a clever way to declutter for sure!

My mom worked in a sewing factory for over 25 years and she made a lot of clothes for us. I never learned to sew but I wish I had.
It's very sweet of you to share your stash of fabric.

Have not sewed since the
70's but what a lovely idea!

Blessings!

I do read your blog occasionally, but know a few people who do faithfully!

This entry is not for me, although my daughters are learning to sew at this time.

I would like to "nominate" Jen over at Double Nickel Farm and "Pen of Jen". She is the most resourceful person I know of, and wastes nothing...

The fabric would offer an amazing opportunity for her and her talents!!

thank you. May God bless you abundantly as you bless others!

While I am not in need of fabric, I too remember the joy of sewing. My Mom is a great seamstress, her mom was also, and I do know how to sew and really enjoy it. It's been years, and now it's time to teach my daughter who is 9. One of the things I learned through sewing is that the inside of a garment is as important as the outside. It's the extras you do on the inside that make the outside even more flattering.

Thanks for sharing!

I have been going through my stash of fabrics and giving some to my granddaughter. I don't sew too much anymore, more into crafts.

Thanks for visiting my blog. It seems we do have a lot in common. I have enjoyed visiting here and will definitely be back.

No morre sewing for me but your fabrics are lovely. Nice idea for a give away. Jean

You sew too? You are so talented my friend! This is such a nice giveaway, but don't enter my name as I did a little sewing in my younger days, but no more. Good idea to give it away to someone who can use it. Fabric is not cheap anymore.

Karen said...

I can sew on a button but that is the extent of my sewing talent! NO patience. It is funny because my mother was VERY crafty. She could sew, crochet, knit, oil painting, just about anything, but me, my hidden talent is still well hidden. They say it is just as important to know what your talent isn't as well as what it is, mine isn't sewing! lol Pray for me though, I love sewing and crafts, but never been able to do any of it.

What a nice idea!! I don't need any fabric myself, in fact I have a lot I need to either use or get rid of.
I hope whoever wins your drawing will make good use of it.

I used to do a lot of sewing too, for myself and my five children, and some of the grandchildren too. I still do a little now and then but I don't make my outfits anymore. There are too many other things I'd rather be doing.

How nice of you Susan!
I want to do a little sewing to make sun hats for babies, so I was looking for some that would work for them.
Thanks for visiting my blog too.

I don't sew anymore either. The fabric is pretty and someone can make some neat pillows, or other things, nice of you to offer it as a give-away!

Was good to hear from you, it's been a while since we talked! Miss you!
