Mickey and I decided to start off our 56th Anniversary celebration with hosting a dinner party for 9 of our friends the evening before .

 The table is set

The meal consisted of:  Susan - Beef Strogaoff - black & regular olives - white & red grape                                                       juice - tea - coffee
                                      Shirley - Greek Salad
Patty - Home made yeast rolls

Sandra - Toll house cookies & vanilla ice cream
In other words--a delicious feast prepared by ALL.

After a leisurely, wonderful meal we decided to wait until later for dessert.
(because we were all stuffed!!)
Moving to the living room we watched a Bill Cloud dvd
"Eating From The Tree Of Good And Evil"
This is an excellent teaching that Mickey & I share with everyone we can.

My wonderful card and Pandora charm from Mickey
Charm is a Red Heart set in silver on one side
and "love" in Red in the silver on the other side

The card reads:
Celebrating the day
I put a ring on your finger
and promised to love you
forever...

...and thanking you
for making that promise
so easy to keep
Happy
Anniversary

And added in his own handwriting
"I love you so much.  Thank you for sticking with me for 56 yrs."

 The heart charm itself.

I am a blessed woman!!
So thankful for God truly making Mickey & I "one flesh", as HIS word declares, for 56 years.

GREAT FRIEND - Great fun & times Visit

My forever friend, Joan, who I've known since the 2nd grade (folks that's 68 years!!!) and is truly like a sister to me, and her husband, Jim, came to visit us for 5 glorious days.

Just arriving at the airport.  They got here just in time for us to all rush home, put up their bags and head for Wednesday night teaching by our Pastor Steve on the 7 churches of Revelation. We ate a light supper after getting home from Church.

I'll be posting a separate blog about our unexpected adventure on Thursday, October 13th!!!!!!

(left to right) Jim, Joan, Susan, Mickey, Barbara & Don

Mickey & I celebrated our 53rd anniversary on October 3rd, but because I knew Joan & Jim were coming we put off "celebrating" it until Friday night, October 14th, with the 2 couples we've know the longest.  Don & Barbara had met Joan years ago in Albuquerque but have heard about her for years.  We had a wonderful time and a wonderful meal at Logan's Road House and then came back to our home and talked and talked for hours.

Joan having fun with our King's Kitchen crown.

Saturday, October 15th we showed them around Coweta starting  at the Pumpkin Patch.

That evening I fixed my beef strogenoff dinner for the family.

Marc & Jacque with "Aunt" Joan who they'd not seen in a long time.

Shot of Mickey as 6 of us (Mickey, Susan, Jacque, Joan, Jessica, Aric) were playing Phase 10 - the rest were watching sports on TV.
BEAUTIFUL flowers, a gift, along with a lovely card, from Joan & Jim in honor of our 53rd.

So missed Suzette & David not being here.

Sunday, October 16th, we went to Bro*ken Egg for a fabulous breakfast before taking them to the airport for their flight home to Albuquerque.  They promised to come in 6 years to celebrate our 59th!!!!  Believe me, I will hold them to it.

HAPPY VALENTINES and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

I know it's a few days early for Valentines but since 3 of our favorite people also have anniversaries I'm post this today.
(picture from 2 years ago on his birthday)
FIRST, Don & Barbara, our dear friends of 36 years, celebrated their #45th yesterday, February 11th.  We love you guys and are so thankful for our long, important friendship.  We've been through the good & the bad together, travelled much of our beautiful country together and most importantly, share the Love of our Savior and Lord together.
Happy Anniversary!!

SECOND, Son Marc and daughter-in-love Deann are celebrating their FIRST, yes 1st, Anniversary today, February 12th.  It's been a difficult year for these two, as they blend two families and 5 children together.  We love you so much and wish for both of you nothing but the VERY BEST.  May this year #2 be all that you hope and dream it can be.  You are a pure joy to us, Marc, and we are so very proud of you.
THIRD, these love birds, our wonderful daughter, Suzette, and son-in-love, Dave, will celebrate their 17th Anniversary on Valentines Day.  This picture was taken just 5 days after Suzette's diagnoses of cancer.  The past 4 1/2 months have been a real testing time in their lives but they are passing this test with flying colors and we are so very proud of both of them.  We believe year #18th will be their best year ever.

We thank God for the wonderful friends and family He has blessed our lives with.

CELEBRATING OUR 52ND & UPDATED PRAYER REQUEST

This is what being married 52 years looks like. I wish for each and everyone of you the happiness and joy in marriage that Mickey & I share. God has truly made us "one flesh".

We opted to celebrate by going out to dinner with our oldest daughter, Suzette, and son-in-love, Dave. We were going out to The Kin*gs Pa*lace for a nice steak dinner.
but it being a Monday they were closed so we ended up at a BBQ restaurant. The food was good and the company fantastic and we had a delightful, enjoyable, actually fun time.

Dave smooching Suzette. Happily married 16+ years and facing the battle of their lives but yet with a smile and a kiss. We are so proud of these two.

Updated Prayer Request For Suzette

God has opened the doors for Suzette to be interviewed for acceptance at the Nat*ional Inst*itute of Hea*lth at Bethesda, Maryland on Tuesday, October 12th at 1:30 p.m. This in itself is truly a miracle and a GOD THING.

This interview is to see if she will be accepted by the Cancer Institute of Health for their aggressive, cutting edge treatment for that purpose. All of her medical information, including the MRI, petscan & blood work have already been received by NIH. She & Dave will be flying out of Tulsa at 6 a.m. Monday, arriving in Bethesda at noon. She will have this interview on Tuesday and they will return to Tulsa by 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday. They are having to pay for their airline tickets, motel and car rental for her to go.

Please join us in praying:

  1. For a safe, easy, uneventful flight up.
  2. For a nice afternoon and rest for both of them on Monday night.
  3. FOR GOD'S CONTINUED FAVOR as her healing is being manifest.
  4. FOR HER ACCEPTANCE IN THIS PROGRAM
  5. For rest for both of them on Tuesday night.
  6. For a safe, easy, uneventful flight back on Wednesday
  7. For whatever the next step it.

If she is NOT accepted into this program on Tuesday she will immediately begin Chemotherapy on Thursday here in Tulsa.

"I have heard thy prayer. I have seen thy tears; behold, I will heal thee; on the third day thou shall go up unto the house of the Lord." II Kings 20:5b

speaking of the righteous..."He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is secure, he will have no fear, in the end he will triumph on his foes." Psalm 112:6-8

#52 AND COUNTING

Today is our 52nd Anniversary. I was 20 & Mickey was 25 when we were married in Flagstaff, AZ. on October 4, 1958. It was the best decision we ever made......second of course to making Jesus our Lord & Savior.

Here are previous years posts , if you care to read them: 2009, & 2008, & 2007.
Two years ago we were dealing with emergency hospital visits in Flagstaff,AZ, Grants, NM, & Oklahoma City trying to get home and Mickey having double bi-pass heart surgery. He recovered swiftly and is going full steam!! God took care of that for us.
This year we are dealing with just learning of our wonderful, beautiful, first-born daughter, Suzette, getting a diagnosis of lung cancer.......BUT God will take care of that for us, too!!!! She will be healed and have the victory and go full steam.

THREE FOLD CORD

"And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him, and a three fold cord is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12

HAPPY 51ST ANNIVERSARY TO US!!!!!!

October 4, 1958 - October 4, 2009

Then

Now

More in love today than ever and enjoying every moment of every day together.

Last year we were at Grand Canyon celebrating our 50th Anniversary where we had spent our wedding night. BUT, as often happens, plans sometimes go awry and Mickey ended up spending the night at the Hospital in Flagstaff. We headed home early, and he spent the next night, October 5th, at the Hospital in Grants, NM. He had double bi-pass heart surgery on October 9th.

He is fit as a fiddle - we have had a wonderful year and we look forward to celebrating #52 next October 4th.
