A WONDERFUL GIFT

The Lord blessed us with someone giving us a new (newer to us)

computer recently!!!

Then, The Lord tested MY patience by making me wait over a 5 weeks period to be able to use it!!

Marc, changed out the monitors last Sunday when we celebrated his birthday. Yesterday Marc, Oksana & Aric came out after church for a home cooked roast dinner, with all the trimmings, and he was able to get the processor changed out and all our information transferred.

This is my old computer. This one was built by Marc when we returned to Coweta, in May 2004

GEORGE CARLIN'S VIEWS ON AGING

Keeping with my age theme of yesterday I found these insights by George Carlin fun and wanted to pass them on to you. Have a wonderful day !

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids?

If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half going on five. That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16!

And then the greatest day of your life! You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony, YOU BECOME 21. YESSSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you've just a sour-dumpling. What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away.


Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone. But wait!!!

You MAKE it to 6o. You didn't think you would!


So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycles; you HIT lunch, you TURN 4:30 and you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there.

Into the 90's, you start going backwards; "I was JUST 92".


Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"


May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

AND ENJOY LIFE

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them".

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop" And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with you our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but not to where the GUILT is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!

CELEBRATING MARC'S 39TH BD

Our Internet service has been down so I'm playing catch-up with this post.

August 2nd was Marc's 39th birthday. I cannot believe our youngest child is almost 40!

We celebrated with a family dinner on Sunday, the 3rd.

Here is the birthday honoree!

I always let the person celebrating their birthday pick what they want me to prepare for the birthday dinner. Marc chose Beef Stroganoff. I served it with a large tossed salad, homemade Bread & Butter Pickles (from the cucumbers Mickey grew), green beans & buttered french bread.

Here is the cake, which was purchased by Jacque. It was 1/2 chocolate & 1/2 white cake and delicious!!!

You can see we have 2 tables set up. The regular dining room table with seating for 8 and the card table with seating for 4.

Don't know how I managed not to get a picture of me or Suzette (Marc's oldest sister) but believe me......we were very much present and accounted for!

Marc got lots of really nice gifts. Mickey & my gift to him was Hugo Boss cologne, Pure Power. Along with our prayer for the Lord to bring that Proverbs 31 woman into his life!!!! I mention the cologne name because we made a point of telling Oksana her father was Boss with Pure Power!!!!

The Saturday night before our friends, Don & Barbara, had us over for dinner and then the 4 of us attended the Southern Gospel Worship Gathering that is held the first Saturday of each month. We had not been to this in months but a evangelist, who has preached at our church, and who has one of those wonderful, booming voices, named Chresten Tomlin was one of those singing and we had to go hear Cresten. The other's were a Blind Gospel Pianist named Charley Tipps, a male quartet named The Missourians and a male trio named David's Song (all three were named David!!) from Tyler, Texas. A wonderful, uplifting and very moving evening.

In case you didn't know.......I LOVE my new clothes line. I have hung 3 loads so far.

I have FINALLY decided to do something about my weight!!!! Beginning Monday morning I have walked 15 minutes or more each morning. I will build up a little each day until I get to 30 minutes. I am adding some upper body weight exercises, too. When I find one of those weight loss scales I will be adding it to my blog. I need, and want, to lose AT LEAST 20 pounds.By going public, and adding this, I will be making myself accountable to blogland as well as to myself!

We bought the book "YOU: The Owner's Manual" by Michael F. Roizen, M.D. and Mehmet C. Oz, M.D. last evening. We have only read 47 pages, so far, but it is wonderful!!! These two Doctors write very complicated and complex truths about our body in a very fun and easy to read & understand way. That is not an easy job. The first chapter is on the heart. Needless to say, that is of supreme interest to Mickey & I at this juncture of our lives.

Speaking of the heart, the latest on Mickey is he is to go back to Oklahoma City on Friday, July 15th, at 2:00 p.m. for a breathing test. We are truly believing he is NOT going to have to have bi-pass heart surgery. Please join us in praying for that.

I think this catches me up to date on what is going on in our lives. I'll try and do a better job of staying caught up and visiting all of you, my friends, in the next several days, now that my internet is back on line.

WE DID IT!!

The Clothesline

Last Wednesday Mickey & I went and looked at L*owe*s about putting up a clothesline. Pricing timbers for poles and cross bars, etc. It, like most things, was getting more expensive by the minute....oh yeah, the cement to set it in, etc.

After we got home I went out in the back yard and came in and said, "Can't you just string me a little line between those two trees." Now I know why Mickey hadn't yet cut down the 3rd dead tree!!! He wasn't too thrilled about the idea. At first he thought he's have to move his bird house. I pointed out it was just the two of us and I didn't need anything big or fancy. So yesterday he went and bought a clothesline wire that is covered with vynal and ...........I have a clotheslines. YEAH!!!!

Freshly washed clothes in the basket and my new clothespens in one of the icecream buckets I seem to find multiple uses for.


I decided to pen the bucket on the line and move it along as I hung the items. That way I didn't have to keep bending over and deal with my back.

It has to be 39 years since I've hung clothes on a line!!! My parents bought me a dryer after our 4th child was born and he just celebrate his 39th birthday!!

It was 101 degrees here in Coweta today and the heat index was higher than that, a heat advisory was in effect, but it wasn't bad at all and I was finding this great fun.

OOPS!!!! Seems my little bucket dropped off the line and all the pens are now on the ground.

This was my first small wash and it dried in 1 1/2 hours. Mickey teased me that it would have only taken 30 minutes in the dryer. Right....but I wonder how much electricity I saved? Anyway, I am most delighted with my new little clothesline. Who knows.......I may even start wearing aprons again but I guarantee you I'll NEVER give up the washing machine.

TULSA AIR & SPACE MUSEUM & PLANETARIUM

On Wednesday we took Aric to the Air & Space Museum & the Planetarium. Mickey & I have been to MANY Air Museums in our travels because of my husbands love of planes. Visiting Tulsa's was most interesting because it isn't real big and it covers the history of aviation in Tulsa.

If you look at the very top of the picture you can barely see a hot air balloon. This was Tulsa's first official aviation encounter. On July 4, 1897 a gentleman completed a smoke balloon ascension to a height of 300 feet and parachuted from the contraption to the delight of the crowds below. What is really interesting about this......the man was to be paid $200. He refused to come until he had received the money. The promoters were afraid if they paid him up front he wouldn't show up. The problem was solved by the promoters going ahead and placing

the $200 in a fruit jar that was placed in a store window for all to see. The man did show up, did the stunt and was paid from the fruit jar.

Grandpa is showing Aric one of the old gas pumps and explaining it to him. What was interesting is that the pump only held 10 gallons.

To prove we've all been to space.........well, sort of!!!

There were many interactive exhibits Aric was able to do. Here a volunteer is instructing Aric how to use the robotic arm. Aric is actually standing inside a section of the space ship at the controls.

Here Aric has activated the robotic arm and is lifting this canister from the hole next to the red one and actually moved it across to the other side and placing it in a hole there. Aric and the controls are behind the white section to the right and he is looking at a screen monitor as he performs this feat.

Outside is a nice playground with a space theme. We took time for Aric to play awhile on the different features. Here he is climbing the "rock" wall

He is proceeding to come down out of this rocket ship so we can go to lunch!!!

TASM is out in a remote section north of the airport so we inquired about a place to eat. We were directed to a truly lovely little cafe hidden away among the industrial/aerospace businesses that we never would have found on our own. Imagine our delight when we opened the door to white tablecloth covered tables and beautiful pots of flowers everywhere. Neat as a pin and an absolutely delicious home style cooked meal. What a winner. We opted for a booth, more comfortable for my back & leg.

After our delicious meal we went back to the Planetarium where we saw a 40 minute show entitled Infinity Express. We were wowed and delighted at the beautiful and educational display of the heavens above us.

A wonderful, fun and educational time for all of us "kids".

My show and tell today is something VERY different.

It is two bags of shredded money!!!.

(sorry I didn't get the picture turned before blogging it!!)

My husband worked for Bri*nks Ar*mored C*ar and retired from there in 1997. This explains how we happen to have these interesting items sitting on the shelf in our guest bedroom. We have no idea how many millions they may be shredding 10 years later in 2007-8.

I thought this was an interesting and different item to share. Maybe some of you home school mom's can share this with your kids when teaching about money.
