Family TV is Back!

If you’ve been asking for the return of great television programming that the entire family can enjoy together – control is now in your hands.

Tomorrow, FRIDAY, APRIL 16th, NBC will air a two-hour action/adventure movie entitled Secrets of the Mountain, an edge-of-the-seat thriller that reminds us that when times are tough, families don’t run away from their problems - they run back to each other.

As the story unfolds, the characters display positive traits such as honesty and perseverance - things that moms are trying to pass on to their children. And best of all, it’s a story both kids and parents will enjoy.

To show that this type of entertainment is wanted and appreciated, we need 10 million families to tune in on Friday April 16th at 8/7C.

CELEBRATING MARC'S 39TH BD

Our Internet service has been down so I'm playing catch-up with this post.

August 2nd was Marc's 39th birthday. I cannot believe our youngest child is almost 40!

We celebrated with a family dinner on Sunday, the 3rd.

Here is the birthday honoree!

I always let the person celebrating their birthday pick what they want me to prepare for the birthday dinner. Marc chose Beef Stroganoff. I served it with a large tossed salad, homemade Bread & Butter Pickles (from the cucumbers Mickey grew), green beans & buttered french bread.

Here is the cake, which was purchased by Jacque. It was 1/2 chocolate & 1/2 white cake and delicious!!!

Don't know how I managed not to get a picture of me or Suzette (Marc's oldest sister) but believe me......we were very much present and accounted for!

Marc got lots of really nice gifts. Mickey & my gift to him was Hugo Boss cologne, Pure Power. Along with our prayer for the Lord to bring that Proverbs 31 woman into his life!!!! I mention the cologne name because we made a point of telling Oksana her father was Boss with Pure Power!!!!

The Saturday night before our friends, Don & Barbara, had us over for dinner and then the 4 of us attended the Southern Gospel Worship Gathering that is held the first Saturday of each month. We had not been to this in months but a evangelist, who has preached at our church, and who has one of those wonderful, booming voices, named Chresten Tomlin was one of those singing and we had to go hear Cresten. The other's were a Blind Gospel Pianist named Charley Tipps, a male quartet named The Missourians and a male trio named David's Song (all three were named David!!) from Tyler, Texas. A wonderful, uplifting and very moving evening.

I have FINALLY decided to do something about my weight!!!! Beginning Monday morning I have walked 15 minutes or more each morning. I will build up a little each day until I get to 30 minutes. I am adding some upper body weight exercises, too. When I find one of those weight loss scales I will be adding it to my blog. I need, and want, to lose AT LEAST 20 pounds.By going public, and adding this, I will be making myself accountable to blogland as well as to myself!

We bought the book "YOU: The Owner's Manual" by Michael F. Roizen, M.D. and Mehmet C. Oz, M.D. last evening. We have only read 47 pages, so far, but it is wonderful!!! These two Doctors write very complicated and complex truths about our body in a very fun and easy to read & understand way. That is not an easy job. The first chapter is on the heart. Needless to say, that is of supreme interest to Mickey & I at this juncture of our lives.

Speaking of the heart, the latest on Mickey is he is to go back to Oklahoma City on Friday, July 15th, at 2:00 p.m. for a breathing test. We are truly believing he is NOT going to have to have bi-pass heart surgery. Please join us in praying for that.

I think this catches me up to date on what is going on in our lives. I'll try and do a better job of staying caught up and visiting all of you, my friends, in the next several days, now that my internet is back on line.

PHANTOM of the OPERA

This is the 3rd installment of our Celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary which will occur October 4th.

We decided earlier that instead of doing one bang up party we would spend this year doing some wonderful things because it is a year to celebrate. In April we took a 9 day trip to Norfolk, Virginia to attend the Scottish Tattoo and visit family. In May we took a 2 day trip to Kansas City to visit the International House of Prayer. Last night, July 8th was our 3rd special event of this special year.

Mickey has always loved the music of this show and we play the CD often. Several weeks ago I, unbeknown to him, bought two tickets to attend it and surprised him with them.

We began our wonderful evening with a lovely meal at a Mexican Restaurant.

Then it was off to Tulsa's Performing Arts Theater to see this wonderful musical.

It was a packed house, and it was a Tuesday!!!!

The entire production was WONDERFUL. The voices magnificent, the costumes, set designs, sound effects and orchestra all could not have been better.

What a wonderful 3rd segment of our celebrating we enjoyed last night.

Here are our ticket stubs. We have such great seats. Absolutely dead center and about 1/2 way up on the main floor. If you haven't seen this production and get a chance to do so we would highly recommend it.

Wonder what the next segment of our celebrating will be??!!!!!!

CHRISTMAS in April???

Has arrived for me!!

Funny thing to be saying on April 18th. Well, here's the story. Last Christmas when my daughter Suzette gave me my present, which was 2 separate packages wrapped together she said "Now Mom you have to open the packages before the card". A little odd but I thought "Ok". All my 4 kids always give me the most touching, lovely cards for Christmas, Birthday, Mother's Day, etc. and it's a big joke around our house because they know I'm always going to cry. So I figured she wanted me to wait for the card last so I wouldn't be crying. I opened the first package and it was a Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Live CD. Now I love Mannheim Steamroller and bought my first CD in 1986. I was thrilled. Then I opened the second package and it was the DVD version of Christmas Live. Oh wow, now I not only get to listen to them but I can watch them actual playing the music.

Now I get to open the card.......

Mickey and I just returned from this WONDERFUL

performance. They did 14 numbers, took a 20 minute intermission, came back and did 10 more numbers. The crowd stood with a roaring standing ovation and they came back and did not just one, but two encore numbers. I am sooooo blessed.

I was going to post some pictures with this but blogger kept just putting up the little box with the "x" and no pictures. I hope my narrative, without pictures, portrays my joy. Thank you Dave and Suzette SOOO much.

I am still shocked!! and very delighted.

Music - Music - Music

I love music and I have been so blessed this past 10 days with so much wonderful music.

It began on Tuesday night, March 6th. We drove 85 miles to Perry, OK with some friends to hear

The Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma

This group was organized in 1989 and is divided into 2 groups, Eastern & Western Oklahoma. Each group has about 250 woman, pianist, organ, keyboard, percussion and handbells.

They put on an absolutely spectacular two hour concert. When they began they marched in on the side isles and across the front. The director stood in the center isle and directed as they began performing. They did a couple of numbers with our getting this "surround sound" effect. Then they continued singing as they marched to the front forming the various high rise rows.

The Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma

This group was organized in 1960 by the Church Music Department of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. It was the first choral group of male choral in the Southern Baptist Convention. As a result of this influence, nearly every state convention in the SBC has a similar choral group.

There were 250 men and a full orchestra. To say the concert was "heavenly" is an understatement. I kept closing my eyes while they were singing just to get the full affect of the beautiful sounds.

Debby is married to Gabriel Ferrer, son of Jose' Ferrer & Rosemary Clooney's son.

The entire performance was magnificent. Debby has a very melodious voice and sings like an angel. Accompanied by the Symphony it was just outstanding. She also is quite beautiful, soft spoken and lovely besides.

Debby & Gabriel will soon celebrate their 28th anniversary. They are parents of 4 grown children. In case you didn't know, or have forgotten, she is the daughter of Pat Boone and the granddaughter (on her mother's side) of Grand Ole Oprey star Redd Foley.
