'TIL DEATH DO US PART - October 4, 1958

I've shared so much of our lives in my 100+ posts I thought I'd share a few pictures of us when it all began. This is us as we prepared to walk into the church to be married.

Meet the happy couple -

Mr. & Mrs. Mickey Joyce

The new bride & groom with Dr. Hood, Pastor of 1st Baptist Church, Flagstaff, Arizona who had just performed the ceremony.

My dress was a very light grey and the hair piece and shoes were turquoise.

I still have the dress - but haven't been able to fit into it for years!!!

Here we are on our honeymoon in Las Vegas. We stayed at the Stardust Hotel. This picture is a dinner show at the Shara.

Yes, sorry to say we both smoked in those days. The show we saw this night was Tony Bennett. I was so disillusioned because he was short, and had about 2 1/2" heels on his shoes!

Mickey at Meteor Crater, Arizona on our way home.

Susan at Meteor Crater.

Mickey with the 2 other girls he married!!

Suzette 3 years & 10 months - Jacque 2 years & 10 months

They were legally adopted and became

Suzette & Jacque Joyce on

January 18, 1960

Me with our 2 precious daughters. The girls dresses were black & white. I bought them to wear for the planned wedding before we just decided to go to Flagstaff by ourselves to get married. I still have Suzette's little dress. I gave Jacque's to her when Jessica was born and Jessica wore it!! It was one of the many things Jacque lost in Katrina.

What a beautiful family!

Today is our 33rd wedding anniversary and I have shared about it on my TT post. It is good to look back and look at the snapshots of our life! Thanks for sharing yours.

And may I say--it's not so important that you don't fit into that beautiful wedding dress any longer...it is most important that you still fit in your husbands heart!!!!

Well...that's my story...and I'm stickin' to it! (It has nothing to do with the fact that I no longer fit in my wedding dress either!!!!

Amen!

Diane

I think that I see the love oozing over here too!

Now I understand the comments when we went to Meteor Crater!

I am touched at Mickey 'marrying' you all. Makes me smile a mile wide!

I loved the Tony short thing. I was told along time ago Hollywood etc. uses the short men, to not be out of frame in the photos with the women. So as we still see many Hollywood/ music are still short!

I love to hear about peoples lives. Thanks for sharing Susan. I think it is so wonderful that Mickey took your two girls in as his own! You don't find very many men like that now a day! You two have had many wonderful years together and I pray that God blesses you with many more!

Thank you for showing us the pictures. They are great. Where did Jacque live when Katrina hit? My brother-in-law lost everything and my parent-in-laws lost a home in Port Sulphur. That's where my husband grew up.

Oh, I did go see Big White Hat's blog, but I didn't see the autism post/section. Maybe I'm looking wrong??

I'm just loving your posts this week - what wonderful pictures to share! How sad that she lost the dress. You ought to take a picture of the one you have and post it!

Our wedding anniversary is next week!

Hey, what's wrong with short people? (just kidding!)

Love those old black & white pics...so much more interesting than color somehow! Very sharp couple, I must say! It's awesome and a wonderful example to see your remaining together all these years...probably because you put your marriage recipe in practice!
